If you have need of a sterile hotel, don't stay here!!! The Parador Inn is one of a kind and truly fabulous. It's hard to stop looking at the decor. The outdoor garden was a great relaxation spot. And our hosts- RJ and Rayzette, and of course, Ed can not be topped!
We just stayed at the Parador for one night as we were in town for Monday Night Football. It was a great location... walkable from Heinz Field... and in a great safe neighbourhood. Ed was a great host, and we would stay here again for sure!
I really love this place. the owner and his dogs a wonderful. Everything is so full of lovely details. You can sit in the beutiful garden and watch the birds, the dogs and the squirels and have a good time. Ed cooks you a amazing breakfast, each day it's different. Reggae and latin music is on the air. You can walk to subway, the aviary, the matress factory and other point. There is good thai restaurant and an american burger bar near by. both recommended. Ed can offer you cheaper tickets for the major museeums. Enough room for Parking and easy to find.
Hidden gem in Pittsburgh! Beautiful quiet home with lots character. Easily walked to PNC, Point State Park, downtown, cultural district, and finally the strip. We rode the Amtrak for fun! Had a great time in Pittsburgh meeting up with friends!
So here's the deal - I actually write a column for bed and breakfasts for the past 28 years. Full disclosure: I have stayed overnight at likely 300 plus B & B's for that column. The Parador is one of them. I get paid to write a column. So why go back when you can go somewhere else for free? In all of the years I've been writing this column, I have returned to only 3. THREE. This is one of those three. And I don't write reviews on Trip Advisor unless I have returned on my dime. So why do I return here? (Been here three times now) The place reeks of history. That's cool - but I've been in tons of place with as much history. Breakfast is good - but I've had lots of good breakfasts. (Ed always has three courses - a yogurt with fruit, home baked bread and a hot entree. If you leave hungry it's your own dang fault. ) For the age of the property the rooms are nicely done with this fun Caribean theme. His housekeepers do an admirable job cleaning nine rooms - and do they miss stuff now and then - sure - but if you tell Ed, it is fixed immediately. The location is perfect for me - it is literally walking distance to PNC park -I came in for two games this year. Every room has one dedicated parking spot. So that's a great convenience, not to mention saves ya the headache and cost of parking near the park. But I mostly come back because quite frankly I just really like the innkeeper. Of the three places I return to on my dime - for each one it is the innkeeper and the location. (I mean WALKING distance to PNC park - but also lots of other cool places to visit nearby). So if you are visiting Pittsburgh's North Side this is a great place to land. Ed will welcome you but not hover. He let's you alone. He assumes you are smart enough to ask questions. Does not hammer you with lists of 'this is what you can't do' and offers a brand of hospitality that I personally love. Looking forward to the 2020 MLB season.
We have stayed several times in the Ruellia suite which comfortably accommodates our family. The location is excellent - easy walking distance to Heinz Field and PNC Park, the Aviary and much more downtown. We've found several good restaurants right down the block as well. Ed and his staff are professional and very helpful with suggestions for where to go and best ways to get there. The breakfasts have been delicious and varied over the course of several years going back.
We stayed for two nights in the Lady Palm suite on the top floor - an absolute steal for the price. Walking around the neighbourhood was relaxing and fun. We were there for a baseball game - an easy walk away - and were delighted with the food and drink options in the area. Breakfast at the Inn was amazing, very sweet, but nicely made. Sitting at tables with the other guests was also a good way to get tips about the city. We will definitely be back in the winter. The only small downside was not having blinds or curtains in the bedroom, so we woke up far earlier than we intended!
This was our second visit to the Parador. We love the hospitality shown by Ed and his furbabies. It has such a warm vibe. The mansion is a gem. We stayed in a ground floor room off of the courtyard because we happened to be traveling with our dog. Not every room is dog friendly so all before booking if one is available. The morning breakfast was outstanding and Dempsey made some new friends. We'll be back the next time we're in the area. Walking distance to the casino and sporting venues.
The rooms were magnificent; breakfast outstanding. Location was perfect - near stadiums, beer pubs, park and great restaurants. Couldn't ask for better or more informative hosts. We will return if only to sit on the gorgeous patio, sipping wine and petting RJ and Rayzette - two of the finest dogs anywhere! Thank you Ed for a great experience. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.
I enjoyed my stay — so did my owners. It was great to meet two new friendly black dogs — August. PS) My owners give it top marks for comfort, cleanliness, and great time in a really interesting part of the city.
