the heat does not work, no hot water, black mold in building, breakers kept popping. Also, the roof leaks as do the hall windows in Winter,,,,snow. 2 out of the boilers function which is why the heat and hot water are nearly non existint. The owner refuses to correct these issues. He has been turned in to the city building inspector and he refuses to investigate
Had 9 rooms here for business and again was satisfied. This time had a new room for office and it was great. A Big living room kitchen and bedroom. What a spacious place for us!! Tv was adequate and Wi-Fi worked. The staff was so nice and helpful it makes the stay so much more enjoyable. Would stay here again and recommend it to you for business
The hotels front desk staff were rude and after waiting on them 15 minutes they finally came out of back room and without saying anything he placed himself into the chair and just looked at us like I was expected to just start talking. I said hello, and the man just said "what do you need". After getting our room I had to return to the office three times as we found the toilet wouldn't stop running, then the TV didn't work, and the third time because the outlet outside the bathroom didn't work. The first night the rooms around me setup a party in the parking lot, playing music and drinking beer. The 20 or so Hispanic men kept this party going until 3 am. Police came out two times because of fights. The next morning the sidewalk and parking lot had trash all over them. I discussed the issue with another man who was in the office, without any answer if they would address this issue. The second night also had a party from the same group. Starting around 2 pm this party didn't end until almost 4 am, again leaving chicken bones, beer cans, and other trash everywhere. The room was poor and the bed was lumpy. I will never return to this hotel.
Great place to stay. Rooms are clean and the service was great. I would recommend this place to anyone coming this way. Great bargain and great folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I enjoyed my stay!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've stayed at this hotel annually for many years - dating back to when it was the IronHorse Inn. My expectations are low but they accommodate dogs, the location is handy (easy walk to DakotaMart) and you can back your car up to the room door. But this visit brought a new low. I opened the door to discover the usual: two beds, flat pillows, dirty and barely hanging on heater vents, very limited access to power outlets. But on this room I had some additional surprises. The ceiling over the shower was moldy, sagging down and flaking debris into the tub. There was no telephone to call the front desk, so I had to use my cell to call the main number and talk to them that way. There was no coffee maker in the room - but had one delivered later. The greatest thing however was the temp control for the shower. It would switch back and forth from SCALDING to icy cold. Yes, I do mean scalding - like it would immediately turn skin red and I'd have to jump out of the shower because taking time to turn the hot water handle would result in burns. I reported this to the front desk and they acknowledged that they are having problems with some rooms but they have to do a remodel on the bathroom to fix because the parts are no longer available. They shouldn't be renting the rooms because of this condition - but they do. To cap the experience, the power to the heater goes out on a night when the temperature was going to be around 0 degrees. The front desk said they would report this to Billy (the asst manager I think) but we never heard back. I called them again and they said it looked like others were having the same issue - again they never called back. Horrible experience. Calls to the property management company responsible for this hotel has so far gone unanswered. I urge everyone/anyone to stay away from this hotel.
Their website said rooms were remodeled with hardwood floors and recliners. When we got there, the room had carpet that looked 10 years old, wet and moldy ceiling tiles falling into the shower, and mud on the floor. My alarm clock did not work, and the replacement one they assured me would work had a faulty alarm. I was on a hunting trip and appreciated them allowing my well trained house dog in the room with me. The staff was rude and unfriendly, and my hunting partners' room did not get maid service for 2 days. There were large garbage containers in the parking lot where guests cleaned their fish and birds and they were not emptied the whole time (5 nights) we were there. There were garbage bags piled around the full garbage containers and they smelled horrible. I will definitely stay elsewhere on my next hunting trip.
Nasty rooom, no breakfast as advertised. Mold in the tub/shower. Blood and other stains on the bed spread, Carpet was absolutely disgusting. The couch was from anoter era far, far, in the past, as disgusting as the carpet. All other rooms in town were booked to capacity, so there was no other choice. Maid service is non exixtent, had to get clean towels from the desk at night. Our family booked 2 seperate rooms, both a pit of dispair.
It was 106 that day. Luckily I was in a first floor room because upstairs on that south side of the building, as I saw on the way to do laundry, was like a solar oven. The walkway was glassed in and even with windows open it was beyond belief. I don't know if anyone was staying up there but there was trash in bags and just here and there on the floor. I caught a mourning dove and released it out the window before its little brains were fried. My room had a bullet hole in the window that didn't open. The room was large and even had a recliner which was a first for me in a motel. It had a fridge and microwave. As with all the rooms I've had in SD, it was clean. The rooms on the other side had a much nicer setting with trees. It was convenient to a grocery store, restaurants, and downtown. It cost more than the Capitol Inn on the other side of town and wasn't as nice. If the Capitol Inn were full I would consider staying here but not otherwise.
Stayed one night and that was more than enough! The main sleeping area was alright but you sure didn't want to use the bathroom. It was filthy, the toilet hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long, there were dead and living bugs in the bathroom and the floor in the bathroom was filthy to the point I took my sandals in with me so I didn't have to touch the floor after my shower. I was very disappointed in this hotel. The staff was fine but the manager should check the work of his staff to be sure things are cleaned, he was not surprised when I told him the bathroom was filthy and had bugs in it. I wouldn't recommend staying there.
I can't say enough about this place. My husband and I stay in alot of hotels during the year. We stayed last year and went back this year. We will continue to stay in this hotel as long as its around. Wonderul rooms and beds. We were met with a beer as well!! Very friendly people and terrific rates. Its the only hotel know of that goes DOWN in its rates for Sturgis. Horray to you!!!! Mimi & Tom, Wayzata, MN
