The Baray Villa is a must if you are in Phuket! Their interior is simply stunning, and the room itself was such a comfortable stay. We took advantage of the 3hr massage package they offered and it was the absolute bliss and money well spent indeed - nothing can compare. Moreover, the service was inviting and extremely pleasant; we were offered juice the moment we arrived at administration.

As soon as we opened the door to our villa we were speechless. Both levels were decorated beautifully, so rich and elegant. The plunge pool leading to the private pool was simply exotic. You truly have to visit to experience this hidden gem. Check-in was a breeze. All staff were very courteous. We will definitely visit again in the future.

The pictures do not really show how large the villa is. It is quite large and I feel that it was so much fun to have all that space. It was nicely decorated and appointed in the style of the hotel's theme. The private pool that leads out to the Baray villas only pool was a super cool feature and it was so much fun swimming around because it was like you were swimming in a jungle. The trees and the waterfalls with fountains made it so peaceful. There is also the swim up bar, which everyone mentioned. I felt the happy hour was a little impractical because I don't see many people wanting to swim up after 4pm in the cold water :O Perhaps they could make it a little earlier when the sun is actually shining on the water because otherwise it is a little chilly in the water depending on what time of year you go. The living room is huge with a large L shape sofa (not sure if there is a name for that), and you can invite the whole village if you wanted. Only draw back was that it smelled like mildew. Probably from previous guests not drying off after swimming. They tried their best to put smelly sticks everywhere (diffusers), but we had to just get use to it. Two bathrooms is nice when you both need to use the pooper, but we ended up only using the toilet downstairs because the toilet room upstairs smelled bad. We live in Thailand so we are aware that sewer systems are not so great, so we just ignored it and used the one downstairs. But, paying this much per night, it shouldn't be a problem guests are having to deal with. Had an issue the first night with sleeping because the AC unit was not working. So hot upstairs, so did not have a good sleep. The next day they came and fixed it immediately, and the next 2 nights were excellent. Bathroom upstairs has a lovely bath tub and separate rainfall shower, I took so many baths and had a relaxing time. The bedroom has a giant King sized bed that is not normal King sized, it is larger. Wonderful. The outside area has 2 loungers and even an outdoor shower to rinse off before going back indoors. The breakfast every morning was nice to have because they had different selections and there was something for everyone. Was it 5 star quality food? No, but it was sufficient enough to enjoy and relax in the beautiful restaurant where you eat. They had french toast and little pancakes, there was an egg guy at your command, and there were even a couple of vegetarian options for those types of travelers. We ate there every morning. It was just decorated so well everywhere you went at the hotel. There were giant swinging beds with decorative pillows and majestic looking loungers that overlooked magnificent water features. This place is so set apart from the hustle and bustle of Phuket, you could go explore and then come back and end up in a mysterious jungle palace. We had hoped for a little more of a friendly Thai greeting when we first arrived, as this is what expected when you pay a little more for the experience, however, the reception were sort of just going through the motions. They were not rude in any way, just lacked any effort to make you feel welcomed to the hotel when we first arrived. Perhaps they can take it as a positive criticism, when guests arrive, no matter how old they are or where they are from, it makes the biggest difference if you greet them with a warm welcome to your hotel. Perhaps they are tainted from so many foreign tourists who are not nice, but we are two nice travelers and it makes us feel so unwelcome when we are not greeted positively. Not just in the reception, but everywhere at the hotel. There was a coldness about the staff. Though I will not forget to mention a young lady in the evening who was very kind to us when we rented videos. She was who made us feel a little better about our choice. All in all, the place is great, so unique, you will not find a place like this anywhere else in Phuket. I would have loved to give 5 stars, but there were just things that brought it down significantly. Do not hesitate to stay here, just realize there may be some quirks that you might deal with. Thank you Baray Villas, we had fun and enjoyed so many aspects of your hotel!

We stayed in The Baray villa for 4nights. It is amazing.. really beautiful. Villa room is really a wow! The bed is huge and comfortable. Although it sure does look like it need some refurbishment/maintenance work, but still the amount paid to experience is worth. Management please note that the ceiling of the main bedroom in rm202 is leaking. Probably from the aircond.. The villa pool was not that clean due to it environment, lots of fallen leaves and insects in the pool which there is this pool staff trying to clear all the leaves in pool on daily basis. However, it does really makes one feel like as though they are swimming in a lake/jungle. Very natural and relaxing. I do not suggest people with sensitive skin to dip or swim in this pool. The Breakfast selection is small. The only highlight is the eggs station. For me is good enough as I can save some spaces for delicious phuket food during lunch. All staffs in the resort we came across are very nice, accommodating and helpful with an exception of a particular gentlemen that do our check in is not really present to talk to. Think the name is pronounce as tuk tuk. Always saw him in a black polo tee unlike the rest in traditional Thai uniform. We need a late checkout for the baby to sleep as our flight is in the night. His first reaction is.. late check out have to Pay. You need to vacant the villa by 12noon. I asked can't u practice some flexibility? NO, sorry.. have to pay for full day rate! Becoz of the young kids, we agreed to pay for it. Sorry. cannot due to there guest arrival. No more villa on that day. (9th Sep) Well then, can u move us to a small room instead? Where u expect a couple, with our helper, 2 boys n a baby with luggages to go at 12noon which our flight is at 10pm? Here he goes againOk. But need to Pay. After checking, he said..Sorry No rooms. 100% occupancy on that day. Then he suggest us to move opposite to Colour hotel. He mentioned is the same owner. With no choice, we agreed to pay one night stay price quoted by him for day use till 6pm. We know there isn't a pool in that hotel When I ask so can my 2 boys walk over to use the common pool. He said No. lol. When I make a

Cant get over how beautiful this place is - it's honestly like something out of a dream. The hotel is a tranquil, silent paradise. We went in the rainy season which maybe why there wasn't a huge amount of people there but we stayed in the villas which have private pool access from the rooms and we had the entire but to ourselves - including the pool bar, had to ring the bell for service which was promptly answered (can't expect the poor bloke to stand there all day on the off chance I might fancy a pina colada - but if you're hanging around the bar he will stay - we decided just to bulk order some drinks so we didn't feel a nuisance) the breakfast selection was lovely. I enjoyed at night time there were always little frogs on the walk up to our room because of the dampness of the climate at the time. Being said how quiet it was, you would not believe what's going on on the doorstep - bountiful bars and restaurants but you can't hear a thing. And I'm talking more bars than you could drink at in a month! There's a lovely beach nearby as well. The locals are friendly and can't do enough for you (example: spilt my drink all over the bar and a shack looking type place that runs down a side street (about 20 min walk) during a heated game of Jenga and they happily made me another one at no cost). Always felt safe as there was always lots of people around tourists and locals. If ever win the lottery will move in!

We spent our honeymoon here in the Villa and it was a piece of paradise. The villa rooms were romantic, the jacuzzi pool that leads in to the main pool made for a great experience. The cleanliness and access to amenities of the rooms was exceptional and the staff were polite, prompt, helpful and friendly.

We visited Phuket the last week in July and stayed at the Baray Villa at Sawasdee Village. The property is absolutely beautiful with its eclectic mix of Thai, Moroccan architecture and furnishings. The flora and fauna is perfectly matched to the architecture. The private pool and the main pool are both great. Check In was fast and efficient. No problem at all, I had called in from Phuket Airport and they were expecting us. Mr. Tuk the manager there took very good care of us, he walked us to our Villa and explained everything about the room which was very helpful. The Baray Villa is more than enough place for a family of 4. it has all the modern amenities one would want from a luxurious hotel room. The breakfast buffet is perfectly adequate with decent quality food and excellent quality of fruits. We have not eaten better Papaya or Watermelon anywhere else in the world... Just one issue for the management to work on. The in-room internet router logs you out every time you leave your room, and consequently you have re-login every time you return which is pretty annoying. We are looking forward to making this our go to place when we visit Phuket again..

That is my first experience for phuket. Private pool is very nice. all staffs are very nice as well. in the room there are two floors and they have mac box for any usage, spa, jacuzzi and speaker for music.but unfortunately that time i spent just 2 nights to stay there. if i have a chance to go to phuket again, this place will be my first choice.

I was very attracted to this hotel by pictures and positive reviews and was very excited to be able to access the pool in my room. But, the villas are old, the plumbing is bad, the pool is unpleasant, and the staff are not as friendly as other Thai hotels I've stayed at. At one point this hotel would have been very nice, but now it has degraded and quite literally stinks...

Stayed for nine nights in the Moon room (201) and after staying in tons of hotels, motels, B&B's and other accommodation types around the world, can honestly say this is one of the best places I have stayed at. The villas themselves are very large and split across two floors. Downstairs contains a large lounge area as well as a second bathroom and toilet. The lounge area contains a large couch, table, desk and a TV with access to an outdoor private deck with two deck chairs, a small clothes line and direct access to the pool. There is also a cold jacuzzi (spa) within the lounge area that serves as access to the main pool area. Between the bathroom and the lounge there is a small fridge with mini-bar items, along with a selection of free tea and coffee, jug plus coffee maker, a bottle and wine opener and sundry cups and utensils. 6 x bottles of water are provided on a daily basis for free, along with a small fruit platter and a small bucket of ice. Upstairs contains a large main bathroom with a huge freestanding bath, a separate shower and toilet and two separate sinks. Sundry shampoo, conditioner, soaps and other bathroom supplies are provided. The main bedroom area contains the larger bed I have ever seen in a hotel, two couches, an area for soaking your feet in either hot or cold water while sitting on one of the couches and a large TV that is fitted to the wall on an adjustable arm so that it can be rotated for viewing anywhere in the room. A selection of books is also provided in the room and they have further books in an onsite library that you can check-in and check-out if you require reading materials. The TVs had around 30 channels with around 6 being in English with two of those being movie channels. The upstairs TV also has a wired Mac computer attached to it which you can use to access the internet if you don't have a portable device. Free wi-fi internet speed was reasonable and we had no problems or drop-out issues. We found the location to be great. About a 10 minute walk to the beach, and close to restaurants, shops, and other amenities. The villas provide paid for laundry service, however as with most hotels this is expensive. Plenty of places including right outside the complex which offer much cheaper laundry services (50 baht per kg) which can be picked up the next day. Room service is also available if you require it. The hotel has two pools. A private one for villa guests which is accesses directly from your villa, and another one for all hotel guests which is next to the check-in area. Both have bars that are open to 7pm which is also the close time for the pools. Some reviewers have mentioned that the main villa pool is quite cold, however we didn't find this a problem in May and swam in it every day during our stay. Often we had the entire pool all to ourselves. Our stay included free buffet breakfast at the on-site restaurant. Overall while not the best buffet breakfast I've ever had, its a pretty good spread with a mix of western and Thai foods. So good but not great. The restaurant itself is pretty and well laid out with smoking and non-smoking areas. Coffee is pretty good and freshly made to your requirements. We also had dinner one night and the food was pretty good compared to other restaurants we ate at. Prices are slightly above surrounding restaurant prices, but you also get a 10% discount on the food cost (not alcohol) if staying at the hotel. Service from the staff was excellent. The restaurant staff remembered our coffee preferences and room number after a couple of days and were always friendly. Other hotel staff were also very friendly always saying hello and helpful with any requests we had. Some reviewers have complained about the English speaking level of the staff, but we didn't find this to be a problem at all. Most were pretty fluent and for those that weren't a simple choice of a different word here and there was sufficient for them to understand and answer. As some other reviews have mentioned, mosquitoes are a problem. This is to be expected in south east Asia and the hotel seems to be aware of the problem. The hotel seems to have a regular spray regime for the outside, and one of the staff visits during the turn down service around sun down to spray the room. There was also two insect spray cans provided in the villa (one upstairs and the other downstairs) which we used to spray the room, and a small amount of insect repellent provided for free. However even with all these precautions we still got 3 or 4 bites each during our stay of 9 nights at the hotel. However we also received some further bites outside the hotel area so make sure you pack some insect repellent. The only other concern that we had was the air-conditioning. Downstairs was fine, but upstairs can be a bit hot with the high ceiling and the fact that hot air rises. Most nights were fine, however there were a couple of nights where it was a little uncomfortable to sleep. Another nice touch was that we were granted a late check-out (6pm) for free on our last night as our flight wasn't till 10pm. The only place I have stayed out that has provided this for free. Would definitely recommend for those people who are seeking to chill-out and relax as the villas are very private, quiet and it doesn't feel crowded. Wouldn't recommend for those that want beach views or a party atmosphere at the hotel (plenty of places that cater for that outside the hotel).
