We stayed in The Baray villa for 4nights. It is amazing.. really beautiful. Villa room is really a wow! The bed is huge and comfortable. Although it sure does look like it need some refurbishment/maintenance work, but still the amount paid to experience is worth. Management please note that the ceiling of the main bedroom in rm202 is leaking. Probably from the aircond.. The villa pool was not that clean due to it environment, lots of fallen leaves and insects in the pool which there is this pool staff trying to clear all the leaves in pool on daily basis. However, it does really makes one feel like as though they are swimming in a lake/jungle. Very natural and relaxing. I do not suggest people with sensitive skin to dip or swim in this pool. The Breakfast selection is small. The only highlight is the eggs station. For me is good enough as I can save some spaces for delicious phuket food during lunch. All staffs in the resort we came across are very nice, accommodating and helpful with an exception of a particular gentlemen that do our check in is not really present to talk to. Think the name is pronounce as tuk tuk. Always saw him in a black polo tee unlike the rest in traditional Thai uniform. We need a late checkout for the baby to sleep as our flight is in the night. His first reaction is.. late check out have to Pay. You need to vacant the villa by 12noon. I asked can't u practice some flexibility? NO, sorry.. have to pay for full day rate! Becoz of the young kids, we agreed to pay for it. Sorry. cannot due to there guest arrival. No more villa on that day. (9th Sep) Well then, can u move us to a small room instead? Where u expect a couple, with our helper, 2 boys n a baby with luggages to go at 12noon which our flight is at 10pm? Here he goes againOk. But need to Pay. After checking, he said..Sorry No rooms. 100% occupancy on that day. Then he suggest us to move opposite to Colour hotel. He mentioned is the same owner. With no choice, we agreed to pay one night stay price quoted by him for day use till 6pm. We know there isn't a pool in that hotel When I ask so can my 2 boys walk over to use the common pool. He said No. lol. When I make a
Cant get over how beautiful this place is - it's honestly like something out of a dream. The hotel is a tranquil, silent paradise. We went in the rainy season which maybe why there wasn't a huge amount of people there but we stayed in the villas which have private pool access from the rooms and we had the entire but to ourselves - including the pool bar, had to ring the bell for service which was promptly answered (can't expect the poor bloke to stand there all day on the off chance I might fancy a pina colada - but if you're hanging around the bar he will stay - we decided just to bulk order some drinks so we didn't feel a nuisance) the breakfast selection was lovely. I enjoyed at night time there were always little frogs on the walk up to our room because of the dampness of the climate at the time. Being said how quiet it was, you would not believe what's going on on the doorstep - bountiful bars and restaurants but you can't hear a thing. And I'm talking more bars than you could drink at in a month! There's a lovely beach nearby as well. The locals are friendly and can't do enough for you (example: spilt my drink all over the bar and a shack looking type place that runs down a side street (about 20 min walk) during a heated game of Jenga and they happily made me another one at no cost). Always felt safe as there was always lots of people around tourists and locals. If ever win the lottery will move in!
We spent our honeymoon here in the Villa and it was a piece of paradise. The villa rooms were romantic, the jacuzzi pool that leads in to the main pool made for a great experience. The cleanliness and access to amenities of the rooms was exceptional and the staff were polite, prompt, helpful and friendly.
We visited Phuket the last week in July and stayed at the Baray Villa at Sawasdee Village. The property is absolutely beautiful with its eclectic mix of Thai, Moroccan architecture and furnishings. The flora and fauna is perfectly matched to the architecture. The private pool and the main pool are both great. Check In was fast and efficient. No problem at all, I had called in from Phuket Airport and they were expecting us. Mr. Tuk the manager there took very good care of us, he walked us to our Villa and explained everything about the room which was very helpful. The Baray Villa is more than enough place for a family of 4. it has all the modern amenities one would want from a luxurious hotel room. The breakfast buffet is perfectly adequate with decent quality food and excellent quality of fruits. We have not eaten better Papaya or Watermelon anywhere else in the world... Just one issue for the management to work on. The in-room internet router logs you out every time you leave your room, and consequently you have re-login every time you return which is pretty annoying. We are looking forward to making this our go to place when we visit Phuket again..
That is my first experience for phuket. Private pool is very nice. all staffs are very nice as well. in the room there are two floors and they have mac box for any usage, spa, jacuzzi and speaker for music.but unfortunately that time i spent just 2 nights to stay there. if i have a chance to go to phuket again, this place will be my first choice.
I was very attracted to this hotel by pictures and positive reviews and was very excited to be able to access the pool in my room. But, the villas are old, the plumbing is bad, the pool is unpleasant, and the staff are not as friendly as other Thai hotels I've stayed at. At one point this hotel would have been very nice, but now it has degraded and quite literally stinks...
Stayed for nine nights in the Moon room (201) and after staying in tons of hotels, motels, B&B's and other accommodation types around the world, can honestly say this is one of the best places I have stayed at. The villas themselves are very large and split across two floors. Downstairs contains a large lounge area as well as a second bathroom and toilet. The lounge area contains a large couch, table, desk and a TV with access to an outdoor private deck with two deck chairs, a small clothes line and direct access to the pool. There is also a cold jacuzzi (spa) within the lounge area that serves as access to the main pool area. Between the bathroom and the lounge there is a small fridge with mini-bar items, along with a selection of free tea and coffee, jug plus coffee maker, a bottle and wine opener and sundry cups and utensils. 6 x bottles of water are provided on a daily basis for free, along with a small fruit platter and a small bucket of ice. Upstairs contains a large main bathroom with a huge freestanding bath, a separate shower and toilet and two separate sinks. Sundry shampoo, conditioner, soaps and other bathroom supplies are provided. The main bedroom area contains the larger bed I have ever seen in a hotel, two couches, an area for soaking your feet in either hot or cold water while sitting on one of the couches and a large TV that is fitted to the wall on an adjustable arm so that it can be rotated for viewing anywhere in the room. A selection of books is also provided in the room and they have further books in an onsite library that you can check-in and check-out if you require reading materials. The TVs had around 30 channels with around 6 being in English with two of those being movie channels. The upstairs TV also has a wired Mac computer attached to it which you can use to access the internet if you don't have a portable device. Free wi-fi internet speed was reasonable and we had no problems or drop-out issues. We found the location to be great. About a 10 minute walk to the beach, and close to restaurants, shops, and other amenities. The villas provide paid for laundry service, however as with most hotels this is expensive. Plenty of places including right outside the complex which offer much cheaper laundry services (50 baht per kg) which can be picked up the next day. Room service is also available if you require it. The hotel has two pools. A private one for villa guests which is accesses directly from your villa, and another one for all hotel guests which is next to the check-in area. Both have bars that are open to 7pm which is also the close time for the pools. Some reviewers have mentioned that the main villa pool is quite cold, however we didn't find this a problem in May and swam in it every day during our stay. Often we had the entire pool all to ourselves. Our stay included free buffet breakfast at the on-site restaurant. Overall while not the best buffet breakfast I've ever had, its a pretty good spread with a mix of western and Thai foods. So good but not great. The restaurant itself is pretty and well laid out with smoking and non-smoking areas. Coffee is pretty good and freshly made to your requirements. We also had dinner one night and the food was pretty good compared to other restaurants we ate at. Prices are slightly above surrounding restaurant prices, but you also get a 10% discount on the food cost (not alcohol) if staying at the hotel. Service from the staff was excellent. The restaurant staff remembered our coffee preferences and room number after a couple of days and were always friendly. Other hotel staff were also very friendly always saying hello and helpful with any requests we had. Some reviewers have complained about the English speaking level of the staff, but we didn't find this to be a problem at all. Most were pretty fluent and for those that weren't a simple choice of a different word here and there was sufficient for them to understand and answer. As some other reviews have mentioned, mosquitoes are a problem. This is to be expected in south east Asia and the hotel seems to be aware of the problem. The hotel seems to have a regular spray regime for the outside, and one of the staff visits during the turn down service around sun down to spray the room. There was also two insect spray cans provided in the villa (one upstairs and the other downstairs) which we used to spray the room, and a small amount of insect repellent provided for free. However even with all these precautions we still got 3 or 4 bites each during our stay of 9 nights at the hotel. However we also received some further bites outside the hotel area so make sure you pack some insect repellent. The only other concern that we had was the air-conditioning. Downstairs was fine, but upstairs can be a bit hot with the high ceiling and the fact that hot air rises. Most nights were fine, however there were a couple of nights where it was a little uncomfortable to sleep. Another nice touch was that we were granted a late check-out (6pm) for free on our last night as our flight wasn't till 10pm. The only place I have stayed out that has provided this for free. Would definitely recommend for those people who are seeking to chill-out and relax as the villas are very private, quiet and it doesn't feel crowded. Wouldn't recommend for those that want beach views or a party atmosphere at the hotel (plenty of places that cater for that outside the hotel).
From the moment we walked in we were wowed! the entrance itself is very tropical, tranquil, serene and private. We were greeted with a welcome drink and only had to wait about 10-15 min for our room. As soon as we walked out our mouths dropped. The 2 story villa was beautiful! The decor was perfect (some things needed an upgrade like leaking ceilings and walls but not as noticeable) and the overall layout was great too. We loved that you could get into your private pool via the living room and that the private pool was surrounded by shrubbery and a gate. From the gate you walk out into the private villa pool (accessible only by the 14 villas) and it was absolutely stunning and tranquil. There are usually not a lot of people in the pool area and I loved that they supplied you with relaxing floaties. There is a pool bar that's open around 2 and happy our is form 4-6. The strange part is that when you order a drink they have to bring it from another bar as the pool bar is purely for decor and not actually functional. The happy hour could honestly be extended from the time the pool bar opens from 2-6 because there is no one at the pool anyhow and it's at an awkward time. The bedroom was spacious and beautiful (loved the foot massage at the foot of the bed). The only downside is that the drains were broken so when we took baths or used the foot massage area the water kept draining out and we had to constantly keep the water running (such a waste!). Beware that if you do not click the "clean room" option then your room will not be cleaned! if you forget to do this and call and ask for someone to come back and clean it, they usually don't do a as good of a job and forget to leave towels etc. Personally i would have preferred if they cleaned by default and you had to choose if you wan't privacy. I loved that they provided you with pool/beach towels and a beach bag which was so thoughtful and convenient. and the fact that the bedroom has a little library is also a great touch! There is also turn down service each night and they spray your room with bug spray which is a nice touch. The included breakfast was ok, not the best but definitely not bad. The restaurant itself is actually really good for lunch and dinner and we ate there most of the time.
My husband and I have just come back after 7 nights staying in The Baray Villas and I must say this resort is Amazing. From the moment we entered and all the way thought the resort to our 3 level villa the detail is oursome and calming. Gardens, water fountains, sculptures, hanging day beds and gardens chairs all thought out the resort giving you areas to relax and unwind. Our Baray Villa what can I say but "WOW" We have stayed in many hotels and resorts before but this is by far the best we have had the pleasure to have stayed in. The attention to detail, The artistic detail everywhere in the Villa from the moment you enter. This Villa has a bed that is like two queen beds put together. Big bath in the centre of a lovely bathroom, foot bath at the end of the bed while watching Apple TV, plus a whole lot more detail upstairs. Down stairs is just as lovely with a huge corner lounge which was wonderful to relaxi on, another big TV, and entered into our indoor spa. Outside we had our own private pool and decking with two lounge chairs, so pieceful. all this was screened by our gardens. From this area we could enter the VIP pool through two detailed wooden doors from our pool. This pool was another pieceful area with huge waterfall fountain down one end, a rain shower 3/4 way down one end and leading to a swim up bar. We quiet often had this pool to our selves. The whole area was so pieceful and relaxing. As Australians we didn't find the pool cold instead it was just what we like, Refreshing. In a lot of pools around Asia the pools are like jumping into a warm bath. Our package came with buffet breakfast daily and a free foot massage each. We were also given discount vouchers from the resort to restaurants and the spa as well. The staff at the restaurant were lovely especially Mook who I had the pleasure of having for my Thai Cooking Class, she was wonderful and a sweetie. Just a couple of suggestions for breakfast - add poached eggs to the menu, a couple of other cereals and cappuccinos would be lovely. The food on offer was all fresh and tasty. We enjoyed three spa packages in another beautiful detailed room. The staff all gave great massages and very experience. Maybe the foot wash at the beginning could be a little bit slower. Not so rushed. We would like to say a very big thank you to all the staff, all very attentive and courteous. Especially to one lady and one young man at the front dest who helped us with two different issues. The young lady helped me to book a dinner and night show which I was having trouble booking plus booking our airport transfer. The young man helped us with a particular problem instantly and efficiently. Thank you for the gift of the spa package for this issue, we really appreciated it. Once again we want to thank the resort and staff for giving us a wonderful relaxing stay. We would recommend this resort to others especially couples.
Nice hotel, but... Some of our money was stollen while we were in the villa. It was in a safe box, however, as we were in the room, was not closed. It was most prbably one of the staff preparing the room for night! I had to go to police on our last day, but they did not really care, so I left after wating an hour. They came to the hotel next day investigating the staff. As we left to Bangkok, the resort manager said they will inform me. They did not send even a word that they are sorry. I had to write e-mails. Finally they answerd that the police did not find anything and they do not intend to compensate me. USD 140 is not a huge amount, however I have expected some professional approach from a five star hotel. I will never go again!
