The rooms themselves are lovely and modern, although the beds are very hard. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, with great service at the resort restaurants. However, the prices are at least double what you pay elsewhere, and on top of that they are subject to a 17% tax/service charge. You are unable to bill food and drinks from the resort restaurants directly to your room and pay at the end, which is extremely inconvenient as we have to carry a lot of cash any time we want to buy something, especially difficult for the swim-up bar. This is the only place we've ever stayed where we've had this issue.
My wife and 6 years old sun have spent 3 days here, it's pretty not bad. Have 3 pools, and the one for the kids which have a slide in second floor was good enough. Crews are nice and friendly. Food was not bad too. But the hotel location is a little vague. To kata and karon is too far for walk and too close for the taxies even more, Grab Taxis were never answer. Not bad for quiet staying.
We had a great hotel experience, thanks to a wonderfull accomodating staff. The special attention of the kitchenpersonal, and especialy mss Paula, was a most welcome treat, and I would like personally to thank all of them on behalf of me and my family.
We stayed 6 nights in a superior room which was very clean and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent and thankyou to all staff who work so hard and were so efficiant especially Geow who looked after us very well. The pasta buffett night was very good.Good solo entertainer also.We ate once in the thai restaurant but were a little disappointed with the food considering the price (and one of the girls was not very friendly or very happy) Had great snacks and service at the Sportsbar. They have 3 great pools , however I think the staff need to monitor the sunbeds more as alot of guests very early in the morning place there towels over the beds and do not return within the 30 min time frame so there are no beds left,I find this very rude and inconsiderate of these guests to other paying guests. We had excellent massages in the dayspa at very reasonable prices so thankyou to all the girls. Thankyou to Veer in the lobby and luggage guys who were exremely helpful. It is an easy walk into town and they have a very nice, happy security man who helps you safely cross the road to the beach. He is amazing! Overall a great stay.
I would like to leave a comment about unpleasant service from Novotel. We came for check in at 12:00 p.m. 26.01.2018. After 10 minutes of waiting, manager came to us and said that it is impossible to stay in the hotel for the night because of changing furniture in our room and lack of any more rooms (the Hotel was full). The nearest 1 free room is in hotel in Kamala beach, so they can organize our moving to Kamala beach to the hotel there. In addition, it was our last night in Phuket and on 27.01.18 we should be at the airport of Phuket at about 9 a.m. Thus we had planned our last day timely, including questions with motor bike we had rent in Kata beach, with booking a restaurant, massage, buying souvenirs and fruits to home. Absolutely clear that we did not want to move to the beach, where we did not know anything. So we were extremely surprised that the hotel did not take care of availability and did not report the problem in advance at least by e-mail. When we heard about Kamala, we said the manager that we try to find the free hotel on Karon beach and, if it will be impossible, we are ready to move on the Kamala beach. The manager promised to help us with finding a hotel. The problem was that on this day, almost everything was busy in nearest hotels. After approximately 30 minutes (In parallel with the solution of our problem, the manager was engaged in lodging, although the neighboring reception desks were staffed by hotel employees) the manager offer us to move to "The Front Village" hotel, which did not meet our requirements and is a lower class hotel than Novotel. After that we asked the manager to find any free room in Hotels, which are in chain of Accor Hotels, and after another 30 minutes the manager said the all hotels were full. In this situation we said that we agree to move to the Kamala, but the manager had already cancelled booking and it was booked by someone else, so he could not do anything else. Thanks the internet we finally found by our powers the hotel, which named as Horizon Karon Beach Resort&Spa and we were very disappointed that for the night in this hotel (which is still lover on class than Novotel, but much better than The Front Village) we had to pay more than for night in Novotel and it was happened by the Novotel's blame! In fact we paid for night in Novotel 9 430,15 RUR and 16 264 RUR for Horizon. Besides wasted 3 hours of our last day of vacation on solving the problem in which the Novotel's stuff did not take an active part! I absolutely sure that in this problem Novotel is guilty. Of course we did not expect such a service from an international hotel.
Great holiday at Karon beach. The hotel was really good, very rich breakfast, very spacious and clean room and very good location - next to the Karon beach, one of the most beautiful beaches at Phuket. Friendly staff and good service.
The biggest disappointment is the we felt that it lost the amazing hospitality Thailand is known for. Customer service was poor, no smile, poor body language. The only good service were the Phillipino staffs. We had to change room because our initial room smelt like someone have just smoke in our room. At the Tai Restaurant, it took them so long to serve us, almost 30 mins or more. At the check out, they even charged us 30 baht for charity WITHOUT telling us. I am all for charity but its unprofessional when you charged without telling us. Utterly disappointed...
I was originally booked in to stay at this resort for longer than the short stay I had. We moved out pretty quick and here’s the reasons: 1. We booked about 6months in advance on a pretty good rate. However what that rate gets you is a room at the very very back of the hotel overlooking what seemed to be a workshop area and basically the last spot before the car park. It was simply awful. They agreed to move us the next day but basically in the same area. We declined with thanks. 2. The rooms are at best 3-Star standard. One pillow each side of the bed that were lumpy and smelled horrible. Shocked a resort like Novotel would take chances with guests by providing such an important item in such bad condition. For the rest of the room issues look at the traveller photos on trip advisor......they are accurate when you view the ones showing the poor quality of the rooms. At least what we stayed in anyway. 3. When you drive into the resort the reception area is in an open spot where the road traffic noise was impossible. It’s just not what we expected from a Novotel. If you sit by the pool too close to the reception area all you will hear is traffic. 4. The breakfast is basically a cafeteria. It was horribly busy, hot and sits over the noisy road out front.....that’s the vista from the breakfast area. Food was ok.....but just that, ok. 5. Position? This was the big issue for us. To get to the beach you have to cross the busy road. Ok most hotels in Karon require that. But at the Novotel you need to cross a disgusting smelly canal and then walk through what seems to be a car parking area and through some beachside shacks/restaurants. Once you are on the beach - YUK!!!! The filthy canal water runs out across the sand. It stinks. There are no beach chairs or umbrellas out front.....you need to walk a fair way up the beach to find the first facilities. Phuket is known for its lovely beaches. Unfortunately those canals are washing invisible toxins into the sea that can only be described as disgusting. It’s a 2nd world country in desperate need of utilities infrastructure and government money is not easy to come by it seems. While this has nothing to do with the Novotel itself, its position to the beach and proximity to the canal run-off was a major deterrent for us. In summary I’d wrap up my assessment as Buyer-Beware. It’s certainly not a budget priced resort and for what you get, and for where it is, there is much better value in Karon and Kata. I know because we found it. On a positive note ( and I need to be balanced) - the pool is nice and it’s a quieter side of Karon. So as an objective score - 3/10. Sorry Novotel Karon. You need to lift your standards. If your pillows are done- replace them. If your sheets are old - replace them. And, if you intend on placing guests who book 6 months in advance in your very worst rooms, tell them at the time of booking and sell the rooms at a significant discount.....in that case there are no grounds to complain. You sold, and we got the worst you had to offer.
We stayed for 10 days at Novotel Karon Beach Resort. The rooms, facilities, and staff were all first class. The main pool was pure luxury. Most of my meals were at the hotel restaurants and I maintained perfect health. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Location was great and a magnificent beach opposite. Would highly recommend this hotel especially if you have an Accor card. Only negatives were bad WiFi, not enough sun loungers, and too many kids at breakfast. Other than these, the resort is magnificent.
We have just returned from the Novotel. It's modern. We stayed in room 2403 and the balcony was on the busiest of roads with a pylon right outside. Admittedly there were two lots of patio doors which shielded the noise but no pleasure at all to sit all. Breakfast was ok but every morning we had to queue and it was very busy. The staff are helpful and pleasant. Our biggest bug bear was the lack of sun beds. Hardly ever got one.
