We really enjoyed our stay at horizon Karon beach resort and spa. it was our 3rd time staying there and will definitely return again. We stayed in the Privilege club area with its own pool and complimentary drinks and snacks daily between 12.00 and 2.00. We also had a complimentary evening buffet meal for every day of our stay. The resort also offers a free shuttle service to Patong 4 times a day. We found the staff friendly and helpful.
The resort was fabulous!! Very tranquil despite the hussle and bussle of Karon at the bottom of the hill (250 meters away) which has fun touristy shops & mini marts, restaurants (sime with live entertainment), beautiful beach with massage, jetski hire, parasailing... The breakfasts are to die for, absolutely amazing - we can't get used to not having the wonderful variety they have to offer, certainly sets you up for the day. The staff are ever so friendly and extremely helpful. The tour guide (Boon was our tour guide) that Horizon arranged was very helpful and offerred great advice! Our rooms were romantic and beautiful - one problem we had was we had booked a king bed for ourselves but 2 queen beds for our teen daughter's in a room next door. While Horizon were able to accommodate our daughters next door, they only had a king size bed. Horizon did bring in a roller bed, however this impeded on the space and made room less luxurious. We also had an issue with the airconditioning on our first night (10pm), Horizon did have this sorted within an hour (well done Horizon, because we certainly could not sleep comfortably in the 35degree temperature). Horizon Karon Beach Resort have great facilities, buffet and off the menu dinners, an airconditioned games room (video gaming room), amazing pools with a in pool pool-bar with many delicious cocktails to try (mango mojito is to die for!!!) and a full in Spa offering the most amazing treatments. They also have an airconditioned coffee lounge -Orchid Lounge (which is a great respite from the heat) where you can have lovely coffee and cake in a cooler environment, however it took ages and ages for the coffees to come (& we were the only ones there) and while we arrived as the lounge opened, most of the cakes were already sold out. One last thing to note, they do not have a lift - walking up 4 floors was sometimes a killer depending on what we had done for the day (& of course in the heat we are not used to) - but I am plesed that my calves have a little more definition :) All in all, we would be back in a heartbeat!!
So, we are half way through our week at Horizon Karon Beach. This resort is wonderful if you are looking for a relaxing and tranquil holiday. If you are looking to party, go to Patong. One thing to take into account though is the stairs, there are a lot of them. As the resort is sort of nestled into a bit of a valley there are stairs everywhere. If you have any serious mobility issues you may have to look elsewhere. This is my only negative of the whole place. The staff are fabulous, the food is plentiful and pretty good for buffet style dining and the pool in the Privilege Club is huge with a swim up bar (no kids allowed). Horizon caters for both families and those older people looking for some quiet time. We fall into the latter and chose to stay in the Privilege Club side of the resort. Our room is huge with 2 queen sized beds that are so comfortable it’s tempting to stay there all day. The bathroom has a separate shower and massive deep bath tub. There is no need to buy food if you get a package including breakfast and dinner. Lunch is taken care of in the Privilege Club Cafe from 12 to 2 pm where you can get finger food and a selection of spirits and soft drinks at no charge. The resort is located at the top of quite a steep hill, but don’t panic, they offer a free tuk tuk each way at call. To come back there is a phone linked to the resort at the bottom of the hill and they come straight down to get you. They also have a free bus that runs between the Horizon in Patong that you need to book in advance as it fills quickly. Overall the resort is well maintained, although a little rough around the edges in places, but you will not go wrong choosing to stay here. If you go down to the shops on the Main Street take care walking as there are no footpaths in some spots. There are many places to get a Thai massage, 1 hour for 300 baht which is around AU$12...bargain. Have not had one yet but it’s on the list. These are offered at the resort but at a much higher price. Lots of places to change money too. For AU$100 we got approximately 2570 baht. Make sure to bring your fat pants as you’re bound to leave with a few added kilos. 😂😂
From the time we arrived til we left this was a great stay. The room was very spacious and always clean. Our room was the furthest to the right of the pool so we had no pool people noise at all. There was no view from here, only trees, but that was no issue at all! We love all the staff as they were always friendly and willing. The only thing we had an issue with is the cost of drinks at dinner, we ended up sharing a 500ml bottle between the 3 of us every night to save on costs, even that was heavy though.
Nice hotel, decent spot at top of the hill. Good tuk tuk service running daily to take guests up and down the hill. Rooms are nice, a little bit rundown in the bathrooms, but the resort is beautiful. Can’t really complain too much when in Phuket right!? Buffet breakfast and dinner was included for us, which is nice with a child. Good selection of food with dinner and breakfast. Good coffee. Love the singers with dinner, they’re really good! Staff around the resort are friendly and welcoming. Pool area is beautiful, as is the view from our room. Spa within the resort is incredibly expensive, but again, it is resort pricing. Good massage shop and laundry services 20 metres outside of hotel “gates” Kids club is good, my daughter has only been once, she enjoyed her stay, and a lot to offer kids of all ages. We would definitely stay again.
This place is great, sure you will find some staff who maybe are a bit sub-par but you get that anywhere in the world. They are human after all. The Horizon has everything you will need and great value for money. If you are looking for great value for money go no further. Check out the view from the room.
Cannot fault the resort other than saying the rooms does not allow for a single bed space little cramped and equipment could TV needs an up-grade. the food was enjoyable and will advice any traveler to include dinner into your package as it is THB 599 pp.
Had a family vacation here. What a great team of staff members. From the front desk to the cleaners. Always a smile and so helpful. Lovely grounds that ate immaculate. Great selection of well prepared food at the restaurant.
I have stayed at this resort many times over the last 10 years. It is always a very pleasant place to stay. Nice clean rooms and excellent pools make the stay comfortable. This is a very well priced resort that punches slightly above its price point. I would have to point out two areas where this resort could improve. Firstly, the staff quality can be average. I have had some quite disappointing moments with staff from time to time. It appears to me, in order to possibly reduce cost, staff quality and training may be slightly overlooked. That is disappointing as it really let's the resort down. The second area of improvement is the food. Breakfast is quite standard and nice enough. The real disappointment is dinner. The food is quite average. This includes the Thai food which is surprising. I have commented on this to management a number of times over the years. Despite assurances, the standard seems to remain the same. Despite these two criticisms I would and intend to stay here again. In fact, I look forward to it. I just hope that management chooses to address what I consider two areas that rob this resort of a star.
We stayed here for 4 nights. We were upgraded to a Priveledge Club room. This was superb. We had a large room with a lovely balcony. The bed was very comfortable and the atmosphere was very peaceful. The shops , bars and restaurants are a 5 min walk away, and also the beach. It is a downhill walk and on your return the hotel offer s shuttle bus service. The on site Indian restaurant offer an excellent breakfast and all other meals. The gardens and pool area are very nice. Loved this hotel so much decided to stay at the. Patong Horizon, but the Karon Hotel is so much better.
