DoublePool Villas by Banyan Tree

We stayed at the Double Pool villas within the Banyan Tree Resort. These villas are super large with a lot of privacy and the bathrooms have been renovated to modern standards. Villas are nice and spacious but style is not modern. The resort has been around for a long time and they have not invested in modernising to current times. You can see it from scratches everywhere on furniture and wood. Have to say a lot of the double pool villas were under renovation now so I expect they get new bathrooms. Certainly if you look at the room prices which are a lot higher then some newer resorts. They come with a tv room, separate outside kitchen with a great coffee machine, large terrace, large open plan living room. Bicycles are provided to move around the resort and a mobile phone to call your butler to pick you up by buggy. Breakfast is super overpriced: 1500 THB per person which gave you an okay buffet but nothing outstanding, no homemade yoghurt, no real healthy bread, bircher muesli which was so heavily sugared my teeth jumped out of my mouth and ran away. Spread was very noodle focussed..... Inside area also way too small for all the people and it was not even high season. Food in general was overpriced for the quality received - Thai food was not really Thai. My Tom Ka Kha soup was also sweet. Not sure for which nationality they catered the kitchen but it was was not for the Thai. We opted one night for the in-villa Thai bbq which came with salads, chicken, fish, gamba's, pork. Meat and fish were lovely but way way too much. Salads were supposed to be Thai but recipes clearly adapted to something I would rather not eat. We asked to staff not to serve the pork as we had had enough food but they nodded and then went ahead anyway. No-one then ate the pork. You would expect them to ask if you would like to keep all the leftovers as there was a huge amount and we had an extra kitchen with fridge. But no, before we knew it everything was gone..... Pool area is nice for kids. You can walk to a fairly quiet beach and the hotel provides beach mats, towels, cold water etc under the trees. Staff were all super friendly and we really enjoyed ourselves but I thought all the overpriced food in the resort takes away the fun. We does a pasta bolo have to be 660THB excluding 10% service and 7% VAT.... Or an ice cream, 1 scoop, 100THB.

Double pool villas are about to undergo a much needed refurbishment with the lounge area having air-con fitted, with glass sealing the whole area looking forward to our next visit to check out the villa, the staff were brilliant we were so well looked after, the food was good, never disappointed Thank you Banyan.

This is the second time we have visited double pool villas and we now feel that this place will be our lifetime holiday destination. The villa itself is like nothing we have experienced previously. We went to Banyan Tree Koh samui a couple of years ago but this villa is three times as big with every luxury you can ever imagine. The bedroom feels like it is floating in its own private pool. The lounge has a huge sofa larger than a super king size bed with wall mounted TV and bar. The bathroom has an oversized bath, steam room and outdoor shower. The food here is delicious, the best thai food we have eaten and the staff can't do enough for you always smiling and helpful. We had breakfast delivered on to our terrace every morning and ate it looking over our massive infinity pool and the lakes beyond. Our butler Sonia catered to our every need. She is personable, friendly and professional and I imagine she will go a long way in her career. She made us feel special and very pampered. It is our last day today and tomorrow a week in Koh samui and then on to Bankok. My husband and I have fallen in love with this beautiful country and beautiful people.

Check - in and check out is horrible as you sit in the sweltering heat waiting for someone to attend to you. It's open air with no aircon. The main bedroom in the private pool Villa is absolutely lovely - one step and you are into the pool. There is also a jacuzzi built into the pool which is fabulous at night when the pool water is sometimes to cool to swim or have a cocktail. the second bedroom and bathroom are fine. The kitchenette is smaller than an aircrafts galley and good enough to make your morning coffee. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We rented a vehicle so we werent stuck in Laguna or Banayan to eat at their designated restaurants all the time. I would recommend renting a car if you are vacationing for more than 4 days.

We recently enjoyed a heavenly week at this Property. We had seen much or the area a few years ago on a Cruise. So when I say we enjoyed the property all week, I mean it, we only left for a short 4 hour tour to the Giant Bhuda. The service was wonderful but not overpowering the food was excellent our Butler Nim was absolutely amazing. We wer in villa 912 with a view of the lake, this is the only slight fault we found, it could use a little attention to clean it up and once in a while. We look forward to returning as soon as possible or perhaps another one of their locations. Almost forgot the Food And Beverage team helped me to plan flowers, champagne, cheeses, and everything I wanted to make this a perfect 37th anniversary. Thank You All Again. Robert and Marilyn Peck

Stayed here for four nights for my wife's birthday celebration. First lets get things straight. We stayed at the double pool villas that are a sub section of Banyan Tree Phuket. This wing of 24 villas were built in a few years ago and the original resort was opened 22 years ago. Double pool villas have services that only double pool villa guests can access but still have full access to the Banyan Tree Phuket resort. This also applies for the Spa Sanctuary villas which were built around the same time as Double Pool Villas. These come in mainly one bedroom units but have a few two and I believe one three bedroom unit. Previous reviews have mixed up the older villas with the newer double pool villas. These are not the same as the regular pool villas which only have in pool unlike the double pool villas. Arrival into Phuket was met by staff at airport and we were whisked away by hotel Mercedes. Alex was the driver and was friendly and was safe. Met at the separate lobby for the DPVs (Double Pool Villas) by manager and three other hosts. Brought to our unit next door 905 which we had requested as it is the most private with the best view of all the villas. 905 is next door to Tre restaurant which is only open for dinner and was usually pretty empty at night. The other side had green space and no unit for a good 50 meters unlike all the other units which are close to one another. Unit was large with large outdoor sala to the left near the empty green space and a large green area before the lagoon. Master bedroom with a mire shallow second pool wrapping around the bed. You can choose to satin, linen or rayon as bed sheets and have a little box of pillows you can choose from. Bathroom is huge with a large lounger. The living room has a full bathroom, large sofa to lounge on and a mini bar that is fully stocked daily. You can have all soft drinks, water, milk and juice free of charge as well as chocolate, chips and nuts. Alcohol is not free. Wifi is free. Resort has numerous free activities for guests through out the day. ( be warned they may be planning on building a two bedroom villa next in the empty space sometime in the future). First day we did the in villa bbq. Set up t eat in the loggia (living space between the bedroom and living room). Had the seafood bbq and had three salads to start. Bbq had phuket lobster and four extremely large shrimp served with rice. It was actually a good amount of food. Han mango sticky rice and fruit to finish. Chef was server and was attentive but his English at time was not as good. After we had a complimentary birthday cake but could not eat it as we had too much food. After we released 10 floating lanterns into the night sky. Next am we were able to give alms to a large group of monks from a near by temple. The come once a month and the hotel arranges food and drinks and supplies for guests to give to the monks. Large amount of staff were there giving as well. Hotel took pictures and emailed to me later that day. Not many guests attended but I would recommend if occurs when you stay. Did the Sanya Rak dinner cruise later that evening. A lovely small covered boat with a musician and personal chef/ waiter. Had a bottle of champagne included in the price and had a salad then soup and then large shrimp in red curry and deep fried seabass with rice. This was followed by Thai sweets. Much food and spent cruising the lagoon that stretches between nine resorts. A romantic dining option. Did a whole day private snorkelling tour booked with Laguna tours which is affiliated with the resort. Got a cool speedboat all to ourselves. Snorkelled and toured the Phi Phi islands. Saw lots of fish in the afternoon. Crew was ok and snacks and lunch were ok. Area crowded with other boats so not much seclusion. Had lunch on a beach but whole area was crowded with Russians and loud Mandarin Chinese. Also spent one hour on speedboat out and one hour into Phuket. So actually spend lots of time just cruising at high speed to get there and back. Breakfast at Watercourt in am ok. Eat before 9:00 or it gets crowded with people then hygiene goes down. Saw many people pick up food smell it and out it back down. Yeah I want to eat that thanks. Dinner at Tamarand Japanese was good quality but very expensive and only outdoors. Cafe is only open lunch and is basic food. Dinner at Watercourt one night was good in terms of food but staff a bit wanting. At one point all staff was spending time moving chairs and tables around very noisily all for one large group bc they did not like the setting. All the while all other diners were pretty much ignored. Complained to manager and he made things right with a discount on the meal as we were leaving the next day. Had a glitch on the last night that fed us up. Tv on three separate days would crash and require engineering to come and fix. The night previous also had the a/c in the living room completely give out requiring a one hour repair and several more hours to get the temperature down. A/c in bathroom also had to be recharged with Freon to work better. So after the third tv glitch I asked to talk to the night manager. He made things better with food and beverage credits. All in all my wife liked the resort but were not convinced about the dedicated villa host concept. Anytime we called guest services for a question or to get a buggy from the lobby they referred us back to our villa host. If i asked a question I would have to wait to hear back from the villa host. So if she is busy with another guest (they have to take care of 3-4 villas) you may have to wait. Many staff have very poor English skills. Only lobby staff and some villa hosts had adequate English. Overall a great villa with a few glitches. Would recommend for people.

Forget any memorable scenery you ever saw, ignore any best pool villa you ever stayed, turn away any great service you ever got, if you not yet visit Double Pool Villa at Banyantree Phuket. Everything at its best awaiting for you here.

.... to the amazing Double Pool Villas of Banyan Tree.... You have to be here to see and feel this. You dont see villas and designs like this very often. I have traveled with my hubby to many many 5 star hotels and villas and definitely this is a place to mark in your traveling agenda if you want to feel very special. Not one pool, we have two and a jacuzzi inside the lap pool. Nice concept and as they say one pool is to swim, and the other ...:)? Two pools , two living rooms , or three if you count the bathroom with literally a sofa inside it to lay and .... 24 hours butler and very private. My only recommendation would be to add a visitor's toilets if they plan to build more villas. Thanks to all staff , specially to Don Sriram and Senorita Livia to make my special anniversary so unique, and kudos to Banyan Tree. Hope to see you soon!

Start off by saying KWAN you are an amazing villa host!! The resort is beautiful and everyone you encounter that works there is very friendly. I deduct 1/2 star for maintenance. There were a few little items that could be fixed such as the shower fixtures, updated TV's (which after asking they did bring me new TV which was awesome of them) the switches for jacuzzi could use an update as well, minor things of that nature but overall we had an excellent experience and were no doubt spoiled by Kwan. So BIG shout out to him for always going a step further to ensure we enjoyed our stay. As for the room it was large you have a separate living room on one side then you go across foyer to the other side of room which has the bedroom and bathroom. If your looking for relaxation this is a great location. Very quite and well maintained property. Overall very happy!

I had to be convinced to stay at another Banyan Tree resort after having stayed at the Bangkok hotel which did not live up to my expectations. There is no doubt this hotel is impressive and for the right kind of client is probably a great stay but for us it was mediocre and I am not sure we would return. One of the main issues was the lack of atmosphere in the hotels main entertainment area and unfortunately some of the guests (not hotel fault) as well as daily maintenance which disturbed relaxing by our pool on some days. I would also suggest the villa's need some focused maintenance for this price bracket rooms should be A1. Any problems were fixed immediately but feel these are now dated compared to other hotels in Phuket. I will give 4 stars due to the facilities and the fact the General Manager was very visible and talked to guests during breakfast and at other times of the day. I have never seen this at a hotel and was a very nice touch for him to make the effort. Without this it would have been 3 stars. As always all the staff at the hotel were friendly, efficient and excellent, which is a credit to the hotel.
