Both before and after booking our trip I was keeping an eye on TA reviews of the Seaview. At times I thought I had made a mistake based on some of the bad reviews. Being here now for the last week I only have positive comments about the Seaview and its staff. Our room (413) was clean, and well maintained. We have a nice view of the pool area and also have a bit of a view of the sea. The staff are all friendly and courteous. The breakfast every day offers a wide range and is freshly prepared. There are birds (as in all the tropical resorts we have been to) that fly around trying to get a free meal but the staff are continually shoeing them away. Although we didn't fly all the way to Phuket to experience the Wi-Fi, we found this to be adequate. We bought tourist sims which are extremely cheap and work very well. In summary, bear in mind that this is not a five star hotel but in terms of value for money, top notch! I think that anyone who has an unpleasant experience here should look at themselves and their outlook on life!"
Before my wife and I arrived at this hotel I read several mixed reviews and was not expecting the Ritz. In truth its not the Ritz but its clean, friendly and well placed for the town and going to the beach, I have to disagree with any reviews that "slate" this hotel and have to praise it so as to assure any readers going to the hotel that its not as bad as some make out. Lets start at its location, the hotel is located a very short 200 yd walk to the beach you pass the Police station and cross a road and your there. The beach by the way provides sun beds and umbrellas at a cost of 200 bahts for the day even if you go and come back later. Reception is manned 24hrs by young staff who are well informed of surroundings and very willing to assist where they can, one point ..... if you are planning trips the do not book at the hotel they are 50% dearer through the rep, be warned she will try and latch onto you straight after you arrive. As a guide for trips we paid 1800 for Phi Phi island and 2200 bahts each person for the Fantasy evening show, both included buffet lunches at each location and have to say what ever you do and of course if your funds will allow then do both of these trips they are fantastic especially the Fantasy show. Rooms at the hotel either the superior or the deluxe, our room was excellant in decor and spotlessly clean, we had a fridge which was reasonably priced and 2 free bottles of water each day, tea making facilities, a wide screen television with a good selection of English channels, we also benefited from an over bed fan which helped keep the mossies at bay during the night, the air conditioning was great. The room was serviced every day by the maid, I think we had clean sheets daily but not entirely certain about that I know I saw her change the bed at least 3 times during the week, the beds are huge and we found them very firm but also ensured we had a good nights sleep. The hotel is bed and breakfast with the option to buy your evening or mid day snacks from the bar area, breakfast is a mixture of hot or cold, I must say that I found the bacon was scraggy and deep fried and I,m afraid some one needs lessons on how to cook fried eggs! As you would expect in Thailand curries and other foods are also on the breakfast menu, but at least the toaster works! The bar snack menu was varied and very well served at a reasonable price with additional options for afternoon teas or on one evening a BBQ was in place. The bar shuts at 11 pm. There are 2 pools at the hotel as well as a very small toddlers pool, both are clean and fresh water, there is not an entertainment team however having said that the hotel does provide entertainment 3 times a week but having said that its on at the wrong time and also very poor in quality-- sorry but thats true. The hotel was 4 star once upon a time but have to agree its not now, there are areas where repairs are needed but having said that its very well presented and clean, there is a lift to the 3rd floors which is as high as the rooms go. I can honestly say that we were not disappointed it was what we wanted, a quiet base, plenty of sunbeds with a thick mattress on every bed, clean fresh pool side towels every day. If you want the hectic hotel type location this is not for you, if its a base with more than the basics then its ideal, we enjoyed every day. Enjoy your stay, one more thing Wi-fi was free in the rooms. I have rated this hotel as very good because it was what we wanted, small friendly no loud music or dance discos etc. Finally... a huge thank you to our Personal travel agent Julie Birch who did a fantastic job organising the whole experience, Julies knowledge and expertise is exemplary in every way, visit her web site and give her a call, we have used her for over 20 years, never been disappointed.
Stayed at the Anderman hotel for 10 days in April 2017, what a great hotel and very helpful staff, the hotel has a swim up bar as well as a quiet pool which is more for the children, it's is located in between Kata and Karon and just 2 mins walk from the beach, very highly recommend this hotel for a great stay in Phuket, can't wait to go back,
My wife and I are just back after spending 17 nights here. We upgraded to superior swim up room which was the best thing about this hotel. In my opinion this hotel is way too grubby to be 4 stars. The hotel pool should be emptied and the surrounding area should be totally overhauled. The location is a tuk tuk ride away from Karon centre and is actually walking distance to kata so if you want to holiday in kata and not Karon then the location in better for you. The food here is just the exact same as what you would expect from a 3/4 star hotel. These comments are in no way a reflection on the staff who work here because they do an exceptionally good job and nothing is a hassle for them. I actually gave a bottle of scotch as a gift to the staff because of the work they do and the way we were treated. Would I recommend this hotel? No! Would I stay here again? No! Which is a shame because if more attention to detail was provided it would be a 4 star hotel.
Very pleased to stay in this hotel. Hotel offers very warmly decorated rooms with bath tube almost within your room. Poll access directly from room is also big plus. Wide selection of food at breakfast. Staff and hotel tidiness is good. Hotel is 1min from busy street full of food clothes souvenirs. The beach is like a 4min walk but it worth it. Wide sandy beach with clean water. Thank you Andaman Jozef + Lucia from Slovakia
We travelled as a group of 4 (2 couples) with only two of us having been to Phuket previously. The hotel is located in a quiet-ish section of Karon. It's about an hour to the airport and about 20 minutes or so by tuk-tuk to Patong (400 baht). It's about a 25-30 minute walk to Kata Beach. We took advantage of a coupon deal and booked 10 months out from the trip, adding an additional 4 nights to the stay - this confused the hotel staff immensely. Confirmations and full understanding came from management via email, but the staff on the ground were clearly not with the program. We arrived late in the evening with the 3rd party driver arranged by Hotel taking us to the wrong hotel, reversing into a wall trying to get out of the wrong hotel, and then needing us weary travellers to find the hotel for him (none of us had stayed here before). Welcome drink was made available, and our rooms were ready. The hotel is tidy overall, and the rooms are older, but presentable. Housekeeping is of a low standard with basics like changing the glasses in the bathroom not a daily occurrence. The pool area is great, although the pool bar is under-serviced. Getting a drink or a snack is time-consuming. It felt as if there were insufficient staff to accommodate the workload, particularly during the afternoons. The main pool would benefit from more regular cleaning around the edges. Overall the staff were friendly and helpful, however front desk staff need to be more pro-active when dealing with minor issues. This would assist in lessening the impact for guests. We actually felt that the service level we received from the hotel was a reflection of the coupon deal we had taken advantage of. Our package included 10 1/2 hour massages per couple. There was a very limited availability, and these had to be converted to 1 hour sessions and scheduled at the start of the stay just so they could be completed. The timings were all middle of the day which impacted on our ability to do other things on those days. The included buffet breakfast was fairly comprehensive and had enough variety for most people. It's the little things that annoyed us. Things like booking seats on the free 3pm shuttle bus to JungCeylon in Patong the night before, waiting in the lobby for said bus after having let front desk staff know we were there, and at 3:30 asking where the bus was, only to be told we needed to book it an hour before!!. a 3rd party driver finally arrived just after 4pm, but it took 3 conversations with staff, and cut down our available time to do what we wanted. The hotel has the potential and is located really well directly across from a recognised swimming area at Karon Beach, but it needs to pay more attention to detail and to the basic needs of guests.
I stayed at the Andaman from the 18-26 April 17. . Breakfast was great . Well located . Free Wi fi available. Renovations are currently underway. Pool facility was great. A special thank you to the following staff members Rudolf, Abiskek & Dada thank you for making my stay so memorable and effortless . I will surely go back.
Frustrated from the start. Room wasn't ready so moved to sister hotel, this ended up being a good thing as we were right at the heart of the action for son kran. Back to hotel, generally the staff are really friendly and helpful but totally dis organised. Took an age to get service at times. The hotel is a bit shabby and could do with a face lift but generally clean, in a good location and if you aren't a hotel snob then its perfectly fine for what you need. The food was tasty but choice was limited, but this just makes you go out and about and experience the excellent restaurants on your doorstep.
There are many good points with this hotel, but it's generally a bit tired. We had to wait for our room to be ready - an electrical problem apparently. However, we were taken to a room with rather insecure connecting doors which we refused. The balcony view of rusty undersides of roofing was off putting.A second room was offered and we accepted, again having to wait. The rooms are big, with painted white furniture and a tiled floor - airy and pleasant. Unfortunately, two of the three chairs had worn seats with the fabric splitting. There is limited seating in public areas and nowhere for evening entertainments. Wifi was intermittent. Good points include the very generous supplies of lotions and potions, as well as both beach and pool towels, kimonos and flip flops. Happy hour was equally generous from 12.00 to 19.00 and 100 baht for cocktails and shorts. The pool was beautiful, curving round the central lounging area, with a smaller pool on the other side. Breakfast gave a huge choice, but some dishes seemed to have been sitting there for too long. With a single exception, the staff were lovely.
Book this resort at your peril because what we have just experienced has left the sourest of tastes in our mouths & frustrated us no end, NEVER, I repeat NEVER would we encourage anyone to book this resort & if you read on you'll understand the reasons why, & believe us both my wife & myself are no orphans in this regard as it happened to many others we met up with during our time. Following a long 10 hour flight it is natural in the majority of Thai Resorts that one looks forward to arriving & being greeted with a cold towel, a welcome drink & being escorted to your accommodation for a well earned good nights rest after a late check in, well not here because quite the reverse & more took place.....no cold towel, no welcome drink & worse of all, NO LAUGHING MATTER AS NO ROOM'S AVAILABLE !!! Yep would you believe it, no rooms available, this despite not only booking 9 months in advance, but being in direct contact with them 48 hours earlier where no mention was made of the problems being experienced, were we irked...you betcha !!! After much agonizing & arguments we along with 2 other couples in the same predicament, took up the offer of transferring for the night to their sister resort at Patong until they could make rooms available, funny this as we initially tried to book that resort but were advised at the time, SORRY, it's fully booked for the dates you require, Nearly forgot to mention, pick up airport arrangements booked through the hotel but fulfilled by a 3rd party was also a disaster, driver arrived 45 minutes late, the 60 minute drive took nearly twice the normal time & having previously stayed at "The Andaman" had to inform the driver where he should go after driving straight past it, WHAT A JOKE !!!, Fortunately the cost incurred of 1500 THB was absorbed by "The Andaman", & so it should have been after what we went through. Whilst at Patong (extended to 4 nights) we decided to take up another of their sister hotel's offer, that being a 8 night All Inclusive stay at "The Mia Koah Lak (Adults Only Wing)", including all transfer costs, thankfully our stay there more than made up for unfortunate distraction we had to endure on arrival at our original destination.. Would we ever again book "The Andaman Seaview"...NOT ON YOUR LIFE !!!
