We have stayed here a few times in the past and decided to return again this year. We were given a room on a low level as requested which was a positive start. There were no bellboys when we checked-in so the young lady at reception insisted to help us and took some of our luggage to our room; this was exceptional service. When we got to our room some towels were missing so we immediately informed housekeeping so that we would not be charged later for missing towels that were not there to begin with; this is common in Thailand. Throughout our five night stay, towels were not replaced properly on four occasions so we had to inform housekeeping for the reason mentioned. On two nights, our red beach towel was not replaced despite us being in the room at the usual time the beach towels were changed. On two occasions our bed sheets were not changed despite us leaving the 'please change sheets' card on the bed. From the second night on, my upper body got very itchy for some reason, especially after showering and in the mornings, so there is either an issue with the water or the cleanliness of the bed sheets and towels. Also, on one occasion our shampoo and bath foam bottles were not refilled despite being almost completely empty. On one night the power went out for hours meaning the air-con was not working, but that seemed to be due to the heavy rain. Either way, it took hours for the power to be restored and for some time the toilets, shower and taps also did not work until the back-up generator kicked it. As far as positives go, the mini bar, room service and restaurant prices are very good. Also, the staff in the breakfast buffet and Angkor restaurant between the pools do a great job. However, the lady at the tour desk seemed annoyed that we tried to bargain about the cost of a tour to Phi Phi Island despite informing her that we could get it for a lot less just down the street. Anyway, since we have had good times here before we will give this place another chance in the future if the price is right, but it is just disappointing that the overall experience here is inconsistent and is either a hit or a miss...
As you pull up to Kata Palm your heart does sink a little as it looks lousy from the outside but once you get to reception it's much nicer and the rooms are lovely. It's a little odd that they have a window between the bathroom and bedroom but we just chuckled over that. What we also found amusing was the "Do not Distrub " signs they had for the doors! On the first night that we arrived they had a buffet deal on for dinner in the Resturant which we took advantage of. It was ok, nothing special but an easy dinner for our first night in Phuket. We also had a 30 min massage at the hotel which was included as part of our stay. This wasn't the best massage we had in Thailand but the room was clean and well presented. If you are looking to pay for a massage you can find better nearby for less money but it you have one included then it's nice enough.
We had 5 rooms (12 pax) in total over a 14 day stay for a family holiday. On arrival the first impressions were "how authentic" the hotel was. We got in late so minimal staff for checkin. Straight up we noticed the lack of English. We got to our rooms still impressed with the surroundings but 2 rooms of 2a & 2ch were made up incorrectly! They wanted to charge to have a bed made up in the cot room and ended up giving a rollaway bed and a made up daybed for 1 double bed. Room cleaning was poor and room staff RUDE! We broke a glass that we got charged far too much for considering there was about 20 of them on the offering temple! Our other room broke a plate again got charged far too much ($18aud). There was damage to a sheet cover in another room, pea size hole that they charged nearly $100aud and it was yellowing old cotton! The mattresses are 40 years old and rock hard. The pillows were just as bad. Buffett breakfast was below average and very random with cutlery and coffee top ups. We all got sick from the dinner Buffett. Plenty of lovely restaurants nearby tho. The lunch meals poolside restaurant were good and the staff friendly and the Spa was good and staff were also lovely. 2 rooms left 1 night early and stayed up the road as the carryon KataPalm made over the sheet and small damage's spoilt our last night with everyone! We usually stay at Horizon Karon but sadly we thought we would try this one.
We rezerve otel 8 days before our holiday. Otel said you can cancel it free 7 days before but because of local time we missed cancellation time only 3 hours and otel charge money. We keep our rezervation less than a day but hotel charge it.Dont stay there.
I thought this hotel was wonderful! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and was sad I was only there for 3 days - this is definitely a long holiday hotel! The rooms were air conditioned and spacious enough for my friend and I - we did find the window between the bathroom and bedroom a bit odd though, especially as the blind was on the bedroom side! We had a lovely pool view on the top floor so sitting on the balcony was a pleasure - it did look like this would be the same for all rooms though. There were no issues with cleanliness, we found that everything was in perfect condition. The pool that we used was perfect for escaping the heat and the swim up pool bar an added bonus! All of the staff were lovely and friendly, if we had any troubles then I believe they would have had no issue sorting them. The only bad side to the hotel is that they seem to be doing some renovation works and there is some drilling/ works taking place right next to the pool - not quite the relaxing atmosphere that you would expect but it didn't bother us too much and only happened occasionally. There were plenty of shops / bars / supermarkets within walking distance so you would never be bored at any time of the day. We didn't go to the beach but were told it was only a 2 minute walk away. Overall I thought that this hotel was great and I wouldn't think twice about going back.
A clean quiet resort with a nice breakfast. Easy walk to the beach, there are many bars and restaurants nearby. The beach is a surf beach.we walked to Karon and Kata noi beaches. We ordered a delicious pizza for lunch one day and loved our room.
Definitely good and bad points to most places, however I found more bad than good points. Firstly, after a long day of travel to get here we were told there wasn't a booking for us. Luckily I had all the travel vouchers and receipts. Room was barely cleaned and linen dirty. Loved the pool access from the room, it was definitely the highlight! Breakfast was poor and unhygienic. After going there for 2 mornings and having very little to choose from because nothing was ready, we decided to go elsewhere every other day. I didn't feel confident to eat the food here after watching birds eating from the breakfast buffet. Variety of food was odd, not really a breakfast menu. The staff were mostly friendly, especially the gentleman at the front to greet you! He was a delight! Overall not a bad place and it is central to most attractions and fantastic restaurants.
Staying here at kata palms for 2 weeks, already one week in and loving it. Free breakfast every day with great selections including bacon, eggs omelets, cereal ,fruit and also thai choices of meals. 2 great pools one with a swim up bar and staff are very friendly
We stayed here for 12 nights and had an amazing time. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The pools are fantastic and the rooms were perfect. The beach is only a short walk away and the hotel does offer a bus service down there if you can't face the short walk. If it is nightlife you are looking for, it is only a short taxi journey away. We would definitely stay here again.
We stayed for 10 nights here last year, and had a problem every other day with very heavy rains knocking out power supply meaning most of the room electrics went off. I'd rate the hotel 4 stars for most facilities. Breakfast staff very friendly. Outside, be prepared for a cheerful bombardment of taxi, tailor, massage peddlers.
