We recently stayed at Kata Palm for two weeks. We had a perfect stay in a swim up room. Having your own patio area, sun chairs and table and chairs were a real treat. The room was huge and had an extra large bed as well as a day bed. The bed is quite firm but we like that. I think you can ask for a mattress topper if you need a softer bed. The bathroom was also very large and had a big pebble bath, waterfall tap and the shower was also large with a rainfall shower head. The mini bar and room service costs were very reasonable and the food was nice. The cleaners kept the room spotless and changed towels everyday. The air conditioning was incredibly cold and certainly more than combated the constant 32 degree heat. The hotel is perfectly placed near numerous restaurants, bars and shops. It couldn’t be any better placed. The beach is roughly a 5 minute walk away. It’s quite nice to be away from the beach as it gets VERY busy. If you want peace, take a half an hour walk to Kata Noi Beach just over the hill. Karon Beach is also lovely but that is quite a walk away, possibly 45/50 minutes and again gets busy. A Tuk Tuk is a good way to get there. The best part of the hotel is the pool. It’s like an oasis. You can hear no traffic and the garden surroundings are perfect. The water is warm and it’s like a sun trap during the day. All staff we encountered were very helpful, especially the older (with respect) ladies in the hotel lobby. There was only one rude lady on reception and she was young and took offence when we queried the aircon on one occasion which was completely unwarranted. There was simply a powercut which could have been explained much more pleasantly rather than the snappy and quite frankly nasty response she gave. Unfortunately I didn’t get her name. The only negative for the hotel is the breakfast. It really just is not nice at all. We tried it one day and didn’t finish our feed. We didn’t take breakfast on any other day during our stay. I would have given a full 5 star if the breakfast has been nice but sadly it just wasn’t. We would definitely return to the hotel and are planning our return next year. Thank you for such a wonderful time. Keep up the good work :) Tip: Take your mosquito spray as they are out in force on an evening.
Hotel is very boutique and has a unique Thai vibe to it! We stayed in Karon Beach for 3 nights and Kata Beach for 3 nights. Both very different but have nice beaches nearby. Kata Palm Resort and Spa is in the middle of the city (Kata). When you walk out from the hotel you can easily find restaurants, shopping and massage places without the need to hail a cab, or call for a tuk tuk. It is very convenient for a traveler who prefers to check out the local area without going too far. Patong Beach is a 10-15 minute drive from here. The hotel was beautiful. Great decor and ambiance, and a very nice pool! There is a place to get massages by the pool outside, but you need to book this in advance as the appointments book fast. Food by the pool was great, and the staff were extremely friendly! If you book a tour through the desk in the lobby, make sure to negotiate. They are willing to work with you on pricing. Overall, great hotel and would definitely stay here again!
We stayed at Kata Palm for 5 nights as part of our holiday to Thailand. The location of the hotel is great, it is close to bars, restaurants and the beach. Staff are friendly and the pool area is kept clean and tidy. The rooms are clean and spacious but the bed was one of the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in, too hard and the pillows were not much better! Our air-con was really noisy, so much so that one night we had to call maintenance at 12am and as them to come and fix it. The mosquitoes were also really bad at this hotel. I was bitten a lot even though I used repellent every day and managed to avoid any bites while travelling around other parts of Thailand. The breakfast at the hotel was average, seems like there is a lot of choice but a lot of it lacks in taste. You can also only access wifi in the lobby and pool areas, there is no wifi in your bedroom! We stayed at 5 different hotels in Thailand and this was the only hotel not to have wifi in their rooms! Its 2018!!! Also having to input the username and password every time was a pain! Overall the hotel is ok but I think there is room for improvement.
Spent 9 nights here and were generally happy overall. 3rd floor room good with balcony and decent air con, serviced daily, only fault was shower door allowing lots of water onto floor. The restaurant was a bit below average and the drinks were overpriced compared to local bars. Due to the very good breakfasts with great variety, and the 2 lovely clean swimming pools it gets 4 out of 5.
We stayed two weeks at this hotel during Christmas time. The room was quite large and tidy. The service was very friendly. The only thing that disappointed us were the restaurants. We are vegetarians and suffer from celiac disease so there were'nt much for us to eat at the breakfast - just coffee, plain rice and some fruit. The staff didn,'t know anything about gluten-free bread. We bought some rice cakes in order to have something to eat. We also had a gala dinner on New Year's eve, the only vegetarian food in the buffet were rice, fried potatoes and french fries. The house band consisted of a woman singing off-key and an elderly man on play-back guitar. Not worth the money if you don't have these shows included.
We stayed for 10 nights and really enjoyed our 4th floor room. Well serviced each day and the facilities lived up to our expectations. The Buffet breakfasts each day were brilliant and kept us going for the entire day until dinner time. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Pool area with the swim up bar was a busy but great place to hang out. The tranquil grounds and well maintained pools were very authentic and the whole resort had a lovely Thai design and feel. Highly recommend this place and we’d happily stay here again.
First impressions was a very old place being sold to people as a traditional place! Upon arrival we were told to sit in the waiting area even thought the check in desk was empty! When we were finally seen too I asked to see the room that I booked, even though they found this an unusual request, I’m glad I did. The took us to a pool access room instead of the pool access bungalow that I booked. When I questioned them and showed them the picture of the room I booked, it took 4 people to recognise the rooms. Long story short - we stayed for one night in the mosquito infested, kid noisy, smelly room and the found alternate accommodation even though we complained, they were not interested in listening to us. So we talked with our feet. Would never stay again!!!! Terrible
Kata Palm Resort & Spa We were on the fourth floor. Really nice room. Massive double bed (two large singles pushed together). Flat screen TV. Air con. Hair dryer. Fridge with mini bar (cheap drinks) 6ltr water 60THB. Nice bathroom with large walk in shower. Tea and coffee is provided. But only replaced once a day. For more you have to pay. Two free bottles of water daily too but you must keep the empties for recycling. The resort guide that sits next to the TV is outdated. Information is incorrect. Laundry is cheap. The pool is really big, not very deep but has a built in bubble area. On the other side a only what I can describe as a lazy river swimming pool. The WiFi is ok depending where you sit. We got 5ghz quite often. The pool bar is excellent with cheap cocktails. You can even sit in the pool and order drinks and put them on your room. Breakfast is very western/eastern with a large variety. The afternoon/lunch area has a nice menu. Room service has a large range available. The evening meal restaurant didn’t really have enough variety for us. What we ordered didn’t really come back the same. This must be a Thai thing. After one meal we went outside our resort to eat elsewhere. There is live music here too. The fitness room was a bit of a death trap, but the cycle, treadmills and cross trainer worked well. There were no signs to tell you the equipment was not working. You can chill out by the large pool all day and just relax. All in all average resort.
My husband and I stayed in this resort very nice resort lovely people good food lots of things to do. The place is huge love our room good environment room are quiet big and spacious. Would highly recommended to my friends family and extended family
My wife and I stayed at the Kata Palm Resort and could not fault the staff on their hospitality, helpfulness, warm and friendly manner . Everything we did and needed there was met with a professional and cheerful response by all the staff. We are so grateful that our trip exceeded our expectation because of our stay at this Resort. Thank you to all the staff. Even our cooking class was awesome. If we have the opportunity again, I would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a wonderful place to stay in Phuket
