Centara Karon Resort Phuket4.0 out of 5.0

On a previous holiday we stayed at the Centara Grand Phuket so perhaps our expectations were too high, but overall our stay at Centara Karon was average. Reception staff were friendly and efficient and we received an upgraded ground floor room which was nice and spacious. The bathrooms could certainly do with a refurb. On the first night I realised our room was infested with mosquitos! I woke up in the middle of the night covered in bites I went to 7-Eleven to buy surface spray and sprayed our room. I reported to the hotel and they did their best to remedy the problem and apologised. They provided more spray and mosquito pads to help with the problem. They advised the ground floor rooms being close to the gardens sometimes have this problem. We noticed the Carp Diem team who appeared to have the younger crowd captivated. However our twins who are 8.5 years old seemed too old for a lot of the games and activities. We popped into the kids club for some time out of the sun. There is a section for I would say up to 5 year olds at the most! (Small ball pit, blocks etc) The E zone has a sign for 10-13 year olds. I was informed if our kids wanted to utilise the E-Zone they must be accompanied by an adult. This zone simply has beanbags, DVD player and 1 Xbox controller. So not much of a choice... Either they can be supervised by the staff in the toddler area or a parent has to sit with them to watch a kids DVD. So really they don't cater for 6-9 year olds! Breakfast was very average. If you are hoping to dine with more than 4 people be prepared to sit at separate tables. Unless you move tables around yourself and most mornings this was not possible due to table availability. Also be prepared to pay for lattes, cappuccinos etc at the buffet breakfast. My family have travelled extensively and this is the first hotel we have had to pay for a coffee at a buffet breakfast. Despite having pictures of the coffees we ordered on a flyer at the table and showing the staff. Our coffee orders were wrong on 3 occasions. On a positive note, Lunch and dinner at the Azure restaurant was really good! Overall, I would not stay at this hotel again. There are by far better hotels in the area.
First time staying in phuket with the family and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The buffet breakfasts were awesome! The location is great if you like a quieter holiday spot, the kids enjoyed the pool and the water slide, they made friends and enjoyed hanging out with the carpe diem team! Thanks for the fun and entertainment Matea, Milan, David and Marija not just for the kids but for adults too! The staff here were great and very friendly and accommodating the weather has been fantastic except for the last day but I'm going home so no biggie! I recommend getting the baht bonanza for 10000 baht to receive an extra 5000 baht free! This covered our poolside meals cocktails and room service very handy when travelling with kids who don't want to leave the pool to get lunch! I can't wait to come back and stay here again!
The resort was fantastic, we stayed for 12 nights and had an amazing time. The staff were all lovely and friendly. The Carpe Diem entertainment team were great and had lots of activities for the kids to do - the kids loved them. The Lagoon Pool area was fantastic and we spent lots of time in and around the pool there. 2 water slides and a swim up bar. The resort was a 5 minute walk from the beach and there were a number of bars and restaurants right out in front of it. The room we stayed in was a little bit outdated, but clean and tidy. At the end of the day all we did was sleep and shower in there though, so it did exactly what we needed it to. All in all a great resort with wonderful staff - would happily stay there again and recommend it to others.
have been twice now well pointed hotel lovely pools and friendly staff close to bars and eating 2 chef is a must stayed in a cabana room the second time worth the money if you intend to spend time in your room and wanting your own space to chill if not a pool room on ground floor is just as good hotel clean will be back again in 2017
We picked this hotel because of its location as it was close to lots of excursions/attractions and the night life. We stayed here for 5 nights before going to more of a chilled/luxury hotel on the beach. This hotel is still close to the beach but there are a lot other nicer beaches around. The hotel itself is alright, nothing special but we still had a good stay. The staff are very friendly and our room was cleaned every day with new bottles of water. The beach/pool towels however seemed a bit dirty. Breakfast wasn't very good in my opinion. My girlfriend liked it, but I prefer having bacon, pork sausages(not chicken) and beans etc. We had two nice lunches at the hotel and ate out for the others and for dinner every night. We had some nice meals and just used trip advisor to pick the best restaurants. The hotels restaurants and bars were quiet, probably because it's cheaper outside. Although they did have happy hour. We used the hotels taxi service which was good as they would wait for us or come back to pick us up, this did add up and not sure if it was expensive or not but £30 to the big Buddha and back seemed a lot. If you are looking for a lively location then this hotel is perfect. If you are looking for more of an luxury stay then it isn't for you.
We arrived at centara karon early morning and the check in staff were amazing. Despite us not having check in time till 3pm they did their best to check us in extremely quickly. They also offered us breakfast while we waited at no extra cost as we would not be having our included breakfast on the last day due to very early departure. Keaw was super fantastic and cannot thank her enough. The original room was too small for us and had no bath which we needed for babies bath time. Within 20mins we had upgraded to a higher floor with more space and a bath. Was not ridiculously expensive for this upgrade and well worth it. The hotel itself it's well located and there is plenty of restaurants and bars within seconds of walking. It really is ideal. Within the hotel the resort grounds are well kept and lush. One of the pools was closed which was a shame however the kids pool was fab. And the food at the azure was brilliant. We had lunch there most days and it really was fab. Pizzas were amazing. The carpe diem animation team were truly wonderful. Marija was wonderful and although our little one was too young for the activities ( 8 months old,) marija and the team always stopped to speak and play with her and made us all feel included. They really are the best part of the centara karon in my opinion. Even at breakfast they are there speaking to everyone and making all feel welcome. We had a few small issues. One with the shower in the room and another with small ants in the room. These were fixed quickly and staff were more than happy to help. Our departure was at 4am and despite calling down to reception several times nobody answered and we had to carry 4 bags and a Pram and a baby down ourselves which was not great. Upon checking our final bill there was also a mistake and an overcharge for a 'room upgrade' despite us already paying for this at the time of upgrade. We asked what this was and it was removed from the bill so please make sure and check your final statement. The check out part was our only main complaint from the hotel which was a shame as was right at the end of our otherwise great trip. We also did the Bhat bonanza are found it great. Wish we had gone for the larger amount at the start as we ended up having to top up mid way through. If you are having cocktails and lunch at the hotel during the day then I highly recommend doing it. And if you still have credit at the end of your trip then you can have a nice spa treatment on your last day to use it up. Thanks again everyone at centara for the lovely holiday!
My wife and I stayed at the resort for a week, what a great place. The staff were excellent, the service second to none. We enjoyed breakfasts, lunches and dinners at the various restaurants in the resort and standards were excellent. For families they had Carpe Diem, an entertainment group which provides entertainment and activities for Children free of charge. We met one of the a young ladies of this group named Matea. She was very friendly with all the guest, young and old, an absolutely delightful young person. We would highly recommend this resort.
Still staying at d hotel...it's a huge property only come here of you wanna stay in the hotel...moving around is extremely laborious without any proper connectivity by the way of elevators or buggies... 1 check hot water in the taps before going in for a shower ...coz there might be none 2 be prepared to sleep late as their a/c 's are set at 22'c ...if u want a chilled room ..forget it 3 it's a huge resort where u just endlessly walk to go to d beach or d resteraunt for break fast...and if u call for the buggy they'll take do much time that u decide to walk instead... Only good thing about the resort is the food.... So it not at all worth the price u pay to stay here.....
We stayed at the resort for a week and a half and found it a good place to stay. The entertainment staff were amazing they looked after our daughter really well with a great selection of things to do for free. They went out of there way everyday to make sure the kids had something exciting to do. They were all super friendly and helpful They really made our stay. I wouldn't do the bonazia scheme again it was a bit of a have and the reception staff were not very friendly or helpful when we arrived and departed.
We Turned up with a group of 23 pax, different ages and families of different sizes. This is the second time myself and my wife have stayed their so we kind of knew what we were getting. We had a great another great experiance here at this resort, awesome place to stay. Rooms are really good and the staff are awesome as well. It is in a prime location close to Patong but far enough away to nice quiet at night. Plenty of places to eat on the street and for close shopping. If going back to Karon will definately be staying here again. Very good value for money if you go in June it costs about $70 NZ/ day which is bugger all. Spoke to someone at the pool and they had stayed their 9 times.....that kind of says it all.
