3 pools - one adult, one aimed at kids with 2 water slides and a larger pool for anyone. All pools have swim up bars, plenty of sun loungers. Rooms were fine - it felt as if the restaurants, pools and rooms had been renovated but not the buildings so walking along the hall and up the stairs to rooms gave away the age of the hotel Great location - step outside the hotel and in the thick of the restaurants and shops - Karon night market is on twice a week and just a short walk up the hill.
We stayed at the Centara Karon Beach as a family of 4 with 2 children age 9 and 6. We had a Cabana 1 bedroom booked which was perfect for us as the hotel provided 2 extra beds for the children. Yhe jacuzzi outside was fab too! The hotel service is of the highest standard where rooms are cleaned daily and mineral water is left for guests for free. On the first day of arrival, fresh Dragon fruit was left. Breakfast was great with food to suit everyone's tastes. The location of the hotel itself is excellent. Compared to the big chain hotels on the beachfront where you have little else going on, Centara has the best of both worlds. You have the beach only a 5 minute walk away. Plenty of eating places and restaurants outside the hotel - we visited Di Mario's and Kashmir/Taj Mahal Restaurant (previously known as Taj Mahal) many times. The food at both places was freshly cooked and great for vegetarians like us. There is a laundry place right round the corner from the hotel called Oasis and next door to Oasis is a great tailor called Rohan Tailors. Centara Karon itself is a very family friendly hotel. Has 3 swimming pools which are always kept clean and the place itself is immaculately clean. Staff go out of their way to keep you happy. We would happily return and stay here again without doubt.
I have visited Centara Karon resort this year April, with my friends and their two children. The resort is located in the centre of the Phuket town within walking distance to local shops, restaurants and beach. The variety of the food that you can eat is amazing, we never went twice to the same restaurant as we always wanted to try something new. The resort is very well kept, the staff always nice, always smiling and very very helpful. Room are spacious and cleaned daily. This place is perfect for families with kids as well as couples or singles. The entertainment team Love Carpe Diem was amazing, and I personally recommend their water aerobics classes, which always made me feel a little bit better after eating a lot for breakfast. Special thanks to Frane, who always find time to talk to us, advise on where to go and what to do and was amazing with the kids. They absolutely loved him and till today keep asking when they will see him again. The rest of the team is also amazing, I think the resort t wouldn’t be the same without them. Thailand is a beautiful place to visit and if you choose to go you should definitely visit Centara, you will not regret. I am hoping to go back there soon. Thank you to all the staff, you have made our stay very special.
Stayed at centara Karon resort last year booked for 3 weeks but due to children swimming pool closing we moved after 7 days to a different hotel as had two young children with us. We decided to try the hotel again and I am so glad I did we wasn't sure if we would do the full 3 weeks at centara Karon but we are so glad we did it was amazing the carpe diem team made our stay perfect!! We can't fault them our children loved them every single morning they was up and couldn't wait for the day to start to see there favourite people Drago, Frane & Alex and the two girls they made our children smile from ear to ear and kept them and the other children entertained during there stay at the hotel from fun in the pool to pool party's and endless games it was honestly brilliant!! The hotel staff are lovely so polite and a big thanks to Wayne the manager for helping us out and being understanding with our move last year! Hotel rooms are fine nice and clean can't fault them, food is brilliant plenty of choice for adults and children outside of the resort there's plenty of shops, restaurants and bars if need be you will feel safe walking around! Children's swimming pool is millions times better than last year so glad they did refurbish it and heard they will be doing the other pool next month. Highlight of our stay and our two children aged 3 & 4 were Drago, Frane and Alex truly made our stay outstanding!. Pictures say it all, would return back to this hotel but sadly the kids would want to meet there team which are moving around in few weeks so might have to follow them!!
We have been staying at centara Karon resort for 7 years. Coming to this place its like coming home.. We love it. Great people, great staff, everything A1. We love the way how they keep our kids busy with activities by Carpe Diem team. They always go out of their way to make sure everybody its having a great time. Thats one of the many reasons we keep coming to Centara as our kids love the way Carpe Diem treat them.... Big thanks to all the centara crew and Carpe Diem specially Drago top guy.👍👍👍👍
My wife and I spent a week here for the first week of our honeymoon. The resort is beautiful, the view from our room (142) was amazing. The queen size bed was massive and so comfy, the room was lovely and the shower was massive. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and are willing to do anything for you. The security staff even saluted us when we walked past them. I would highly recommend the adult pool, amazing view of the beach and it's so quiet being away from the main pool. Also you have your own bar and the barman even brings your drink to you if your in the pool. (Just be aware they charge you 10% service charge and 7% VAT on top of your bill). My wife loved the cats around the resort,I wasn't that keen on the monitor lizards. They are harmless but,I wouldn't want to get to close to them. The breakfast is amazing and the staff always greeted you "sawsadaka' 🙏🏽 (hello) even if you are just walking back to your room. I highly recommend this resort and would love to go back.
Centara Karon is a great family resort. We paid the extra for the one bedroom villa which was gorgeous, the resort has three pools, waterslides, a playground and lush gardens so you really can't complain; apart form the fact you could be anywhere in the world. The resort caters so heavily for Westerners and in particular the Russian market that Thai culture is pretty much obsolete. The resort seems to be trying to create a Spring break infused culture complete with pool parties, European electronica and Russian staff busting moves on the pool deck. Some travellers will love this, but for me, I like to actually experience the culture of the country I am in. This can be said for the whole of Karon. We had a good time, the kids loved it but I wouldn't go back.
This hotel is just average. The rooms are basic and the kids swimming pool is in need of maintenance. Our ocean view room was hardly ocean view, (which was my fault for not checking how close the hotel is to the ocean...it's not) but it was located right above the beer garden, which played horribly loud karaoke style music to an empty bar on Friday and Saturday night until 10 or 11 at night. We also had an issue upon checkin that was not handled appropriately. I had incorrectly booked our room as a king size bed back in October and had emailed the hotel to change it to 2 double beds. They did not reply immediately, and I had time so i didn't email again until two months later. They replied that they could see if the room was available, but it would be subject to availability. When I arrived they let me know that ocean view does not offer 2 double beds, only 2 single beds. If they would have mentioned that in the email I would cancelled the hotel online with no fee and rebooked for a different room or another hotel. Instead they told me I had to pay to upgrade to another room which had 2 double beds which I refused. The room service food was also bland, tasteless and overpriced, and we chose to eat out instead after that, no matter how tired we were. The breakfast buffet was ok, but the fruit had flies and gnats all over it and were left uncovered.
We stayed here for 5 nights. The staff are friendly. The bed was very comfortable. They would have received a higher rating for me if: 1) the food in the breakfast buffet was better (it was mediocre at best), and 2) the staff enforced the "no smoking" and "adults only" signs at the adult pool - even when I asked multiple times.
We recently stayed here for 2 weeks and had a great time. The hotel is well looked after, and our deluxe tropical room was perfect for the three of us, and located by the quieter pool at the back of the resort. The hotel location is well placed to walk to the beach, or to wander into town, although people with small kids need to be careful with the traffic. There are enough shops and mini-markets to get what you need - from bottled water, to having your feet nibbled by fish. On a Tuesday / Saturday there is also a good market in the temple grounds selling all type of goods. Travel to Phuket Town weekend market for a serious market experience.) There are two restaurants on site, firstly the Lotus which is a larger open eatery, and then the Azzure, located next to the main pool. This leads to the first reason to why we do not rate this hotel with the full 5 stars. Service at the restaurants can differ greatly, with the Lotus that offers the more traditional Thai food being the biggest offender. On many occasions you have to wait for ages to receive your drink, even though a number of staff are at the bar. There is also a language problem with many of the waiters/waitresses who repeatedly get your order wrong, and worst of all they always serve you randomly, with some of our group receiving their meal after others have finished. They do not seem bothered by this - I don't know if that's normal in Thailand, but it seemed a dissjointed mess at times. The Azzure is certainly much better, and also has a better ambience about it. My second gripe is with the cost of food and drink, which is killing the hotel. When we first arrived it was about 7pm but the restaurants and entertainment areas were all completely empty. After a few days we enquired why this is, and the receptionist said that people leave the hotel because it is cheaper outside. Why does the hotel appear to accept this? Why can they not see that it would be better to over more competitive prices when it means they literally have only a handful of customers every night? Even the theme nights were half empty because they charge way too much, and as such they lacked atmosphere. You can save some money by using the 'Bonanza scheme' in which you commit a chosen amount of money to the hotel for food/drink/etc, and they give you a fixed percentage extra free. This means you get 20%+ off of whatever you spend, and proves to be a good idea if you intend to spend any time in the hotel. Even if you eat out at mealtimes, you are likely to want drinks throughout the day/evening and you don't want to have to over-analyze everything your purchase whilst on holiday. We found that by investing 20,000 Baht (about £500) on day 1, we were given about £280 extra free, and therefore everything we paid for was actually much cheaper. It lasted the three of us right up to the last day, and we did not scrimp on bottles of wine, or coctails at the pool bar. It is worth noting that you will not be refunded what you do not use so base the amount you choose to commit on this. Also water / tea and coffee all have to be paid for (unlike what you are lead to believe on the website) at mealtimes. You are only given a free daily supply in your room each day. To conclude this is a lovely hotel, but to excel they need to better train waiting staff at the restaurants, and rethink their pricing to prevent clientel from venturing out every night. Most of the staff were helpful and friendly, but there were a few that need a special mention for standing out from the rest. Kae and Nat (usually at the Lotus) were excellent and on another level to the others who could really learn from them. Friendly, helpful, attentive, and consistant. Likewise at the Azzure were Nam and Su, who could not do enough to make you feel welcome. Kan (?) on reception was also a lovely guy who wanted to help wherever possible. If we were to return to Phuket in the future we would very possibly stay at the Centara Karon resort again, and hopefully they will have improved the evening entertainment / price issues. Thanks guys, a fabulous 2 weeks!
