It was our first time to Paris and W Paris was perfect! Upon arrival, we were surprised with an upgrade to our room. Lea, the concierge, was super helpful in prepping the room with champagne and balloons for my boyfriend's birthday. The hotel is modern and chic with a great location to boot. This property definitely lives up to the W standard and is one of the better W properties we've stayed in. I highly recommend staying here for your next trip to Paris. We will definitely be back.
I was really disappointed with my stay at the W hotel in Paris. Whilst the staff were friendly and helpful the hotel itself wasn't a great experience, the rooms are tacky and poorly lit whilst all services internet, tv etc. incur a charge. The gym if you could call it that was tiny and not functional to work out in. However the greatest insult of all were the terrible cocktails and the worst breakfast I've experienced - which is criminal in a city like Paris that is know for its food quality,
The W Paris ended up being a fantastic choice for my husband and I during our first trip to Paris. We originally booked our stay using SPG points in the Wonderful room, however, we were fearful that it would be very small and lack natural light. The hotel staff recommended we upgrade our room one level up to the Spectacular room, and it was absolutely worth it! We walked in the room, #418, for the first time, surprised at the size of the room and also the gorgeous view we had of the Opera building. Honestly, the view was beautiful every day of our stay. The rooms were clean and chic, which is always what the W brand strives for. Even though the counter space was limited, there was enough room on the floor and closets for all our luggage. We liked that the hotel was relatively small, so we could easily go up and down the elevator for access to the front desk or street. There is always a member of the staff keeping an eye out for who enters the hotel, and you always need your key card to use the elevator. It is worth highlighting the helpfulness of the concierge. They helped us call and book multiple dinner reservations, as well as a spa appointment at a nearby hotel that had spa facilities. The location ended up being convenient for us. It is right next to the huge Galeries Lafayette shopping center. It is technically walking distance to bigger landmarks like the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, etc. However, we found it extremely convenient and cheap-ish to use Uber when getting around, especially if we wanted to save our energy for a long day of seeing the city. The hotel is also not too far from the Montmartre area, which can offer amazing views of the city, along with lots of culture. Overall, we were pleased with our stay at the W. I'm sure that the view of the Opera building was well worth the money and made our time in the hotel room so much more enjoyable and memorable. Check out the pics to get a better idea of the room we stayed in.
Not a big property but it's beautiful like all architecture in Paris. Got a suite and the bathroom is enormous and tastily decorated. Location is also excellent, walking distance to lots of attraction. This W is a Winner!
We had a wonderful stay in the W Paris Opera - the location simply cannot be beat!! It was walking distance to Galleries Lafayette, amazing shopping, the Madeleine area and the Metro most importantly. We have stayed in Europe/Paris a number of times and know that the rooms can be cramped....we booked a cozy room but upon arrival, they upgraded us to a WOW deluxe room which was REALLY nice. It had a dead on view of the Opera! The size of the room was bigger than the cozy room so I was very happy about that. We were given a complimentary breakfast buffet every morning and it was very nice and generous (yes other Starwood/Marriott hotels have larger buffets but this is a quaint boutique type hotel) it had everything you would need to start your day. It never super busy and the tables were nicely spread out. Waitstaff were amazingly friendly. When we were unpacking, they sent a beautiful bottle of champagne to our room with an array of desserts and chocolates on the house. Great stay!!
I wanted to have long due weekend away with my wife in Paris and chose W Paris Opera due to our previous experience with W hotels around the world. All the other W’s we have stayed at have been quite hip and cool, even for people in their late 30s early 40s. We are sort of finished with running around at clubs and bars, and to stay in a hotel that have all options in-house is a good alternative for us. W in London, Santiago, New York and Barcelona was all spectacular, fun and perfect hotels for this. W Paris however did not meet our expectations. First of all the hotel did not really have any bar or lounge, even if this is what they say on their website. It was a bar as a part of the small restaurant they had and you can order a drink, but it did not have any guest, DJ, music or anything else of interest. The in-house restaurant had a very limited menu and only some few other hotel guest trying the food the first evening like our self. And I guess they just like us did not bother to do it again. The lounge was some chairs in the lobby, that’s it. No, this was not up to the W standard we are used to. We will try W again, but if we have more experiences like this we will go with something else. In general the hotel are ok, but somewhat outdated. It is obvious the hotel had its peak some years ago and they have not been able to keep up with the maintenance. The room was probably nice when it was new some years ago, but today quite a few things are broken or missing. The make-up mirror was not there anymore (just the connector on the wall), several of the hinge covers was missing, and many places the paint are worn out or damaged. You can see it was high quality when new, but it is not well maintained any more. It seem for me the hotel soon will change to become a Four Points or something else further down the lather in the Starwood system and they have stopped maintain it for now. Anyway this is not W standard. The service level of the staff would be ok for a medium budget hotel, but again not to the level I expect from a W hotel. The reception are quite small and both during check-in and check-out we had to wait for a long time to get attended. Also when we used the concierge, we had to wait for a long time to get attended. However the concierge who helped us was both helpful and good when we finally got the attention. In the restaurant it was difficult to get attention and for breakfast the food was not really refilled after 30 minutes before ending, so for late weekend breakfasters like us, it was no egg, bacon or other goodies left. When we asked for it we where told it was empty even if it was still 15-20 minutes left of the breakfast. Other things like being able to order food to the room at night was not even option. Again this is not up to the W standard we are used to. Being SPG Platinum and using some of my Suite Night upgrade vouchers, we did get an upgrade to a junior suite. The room however was quite small to be a junior suite and as already mentioned it was outdated and worn. Our price for the room we booked was already steep, and when I look at the prices for a junior suite, I would been deeply disappointed if I had paid this price for this room. Compared to other high-end hotels in Paris, this is not worth the price. The second problem was that our room was located on 1st floor and just outside our room it was construction work ongoing from 730AM. Not the time we wanted to wake up during our weekend away. All in all this hotel would been ok if it was 30% of the price and a Four Points, but we are talking about a W hotel in Paris. Sorry Starwood, this is not the way to do it.
The rooms are very nice, clean, a bit quirky and very very spacious (well for Paris at least). The beds are nice and comfortable too! The staff are helpful, all speak good English (Thank You!!!) and it's my new number 1 hotel in Paris.
I really liked the hotel in general, my only problem was at how small everything was - our room was absolutely tiny and there weren't many amenities. No bath in the room and not much space for two cases. Hotel staff were very friendly and service was good. perfect location for walking everywhere.
Do not include breakfast in your stay as there is nothing available at their so called buffet breakfast. This is after two days of the same scenario. No food, no staff, no plates, no bowls and definitely no croissants. I just got sick and tired of asking again and again for things. Save your money and go to a patisserie instead!
We stayed there because of a beautiful night at the opera and as a platinum SPG member, I thought I could not make a mistake choosing W. The location is fantastic, literally opposite the opera (and the Apple store, as well as the shopping area (Gallerie Laffayette,Le Printemps, Faubourg St.Honoré) within walking distance . But what a disappointment: it started with the check in: While they have a counter for SPG gold or platinum holders, nobody there! Just one (overwhelmed) assistant. We were "upgraded" into a junior suite, given the size of it, I can not imaging how tiny a normal room will be. When we wanted to have dinner after the opera, the (empty) restaurant was just about closing down(1030 pm).In Paris!! Roomservice was quick, but uninspiring. Breakfast was really bad: No choice of crisp french bred, but soy milk tiramisu (who on earth needs that for breakfast!!) overcooked scrambled eggs that looked horrible, coffee bitter, well, just forget about it. No, I know better hotels in Paris at that rate!
