The staff were ok. But the hotel itself does not look good, very different from the pictures they posted. Old, dated, stains in the carpet, no working elevators. We used the kettle and the power went out so that one was useless. At check in I was also told I haven’t paid yet when I clearly showed the charges on my credit card. I paid again using a different card just to check us in as we’re tired. I contacted hotels.com right away and they said Avalon will cancel the initial charges, which means I did paid. Now they credited back the charges but with the exchange rate, I’m down $40. If there were room service I could’ve considered that as tip but they don’t do room service unless requested. And like I said even their elevator wasn’t working. So no that $40 is a big deal for a crappy hotel. The only saving grace there is the location.

The staff were great and the use of the luggage storage before checkin was handy. The hotel was close to the station which was perfect. The room was clean, although the carpets a bit dated, the walls are quite thin and you can hear the toilet above flushing every time really loudly. But for a short overnight stay was fine and lovely restaurants for dinner close by.

Location was great right by the train station but it was busy, noisy, and bright from street lights outside. The place is old and could use updating. Our room had two bathrooms...one with the shower the other with the toilet. The sinks in both leaked and they didn't seem to care. It was only one night, so I didn't care either.

Inexpensive and basic

We only needed one night in a hotel near the Gare du Nord so we had easy access to the RER B to the airport. In that context, the hotel was just fine. Easy walk to train. The hotel seems like it's undergoing renovation. Lobby and hallway are shabby. Bed was comfortable and room and bathroom were clean. Room was very small but, again, fine for one night especially given the low price. The breakfast was not good. Recommend going to a cafe. Neighborhood is dicey especially heading toward Metro Denfert-Rochechouard. But it's walking distance to Montmatre and Sacre-Coeur. Overall: it's a very economical choice and you get what you pay for.

Nice little hotel

The hotel is conveniently located next to the train station, it’s around 5mins walk. Receptions are super friendly and very helpful. Room was okay, little bit outdated but very clean. Would definitely do with a new carpet as it was stained. Beds were very comfortable and the location is perfect.

Feel the photos were a bit misleading, technically it is what the rooms look like but maybe 10 years ago. Quite a bit of paint is chipping, you can tell there have been many leaks as the ceiling and walls are quite stained. Staff was incredibly polite and is very convenient for the bus! The photo of the reception is not at all what the lobby looks like
