I’ve been to Paris before & had the most wonderful stay in a hostel. This “hotel” was more of a cheap hostel than anything. The rooms are small and old. The shared bathrooms are dirtier than a bad hostel. The staff are rude and unprofessional. Save your time & just book a nice hostel.
Booked this based on location and price and I kind of knew the price was a little too cheap for Paris. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location was reasonable. Lobby area is small but nice but the room and ensuite were like a step back in time..... Definitely in need of a make over
If you are on a budget and want good central location stay here but prepared yourself. The room is old which it’s okay but it needs a deep cleaning. Be awarded that if you choose a room without a private WC, you will suffered a little bit. It’s a budget place don’t expect too much. Close to the metro and almost every main site, situated in upper Le Marais.
The front desk had rather chubby middle-aged man (with a bald patch) who is rude not just to me but also another asian family man who has his wife and baby child in tow. The staff was speaking in a rather condescending tone making the guest feel stupid about selection on bed/room size. 15 mins ago, I endured the same. But I just endured so as not to ruin the holiday for my wife. The rest of the staff there were nice french people. Room was small and a tad bit dusty. But what can you expect for the price you are paying?
My girlfriend and I stayed 22 days in Europe and our last stop was in Paris. We were running low on money and opted for a budget hotel and picked hotel Picard based solely off of its super low price. We arrived too early for check-in and had to wait in the lobby until Mr. Fabio at the front desk could get us a room ready. We didn’t mind because we had been traveling and walking Paris and needed to sit down and rest anyways. Mr. Fabio acquired us a clean room about an hour earlier than check-in time. Before we went to the room, he showed us a map of Paris and highlighted the best spots and best deals around the city to be able to see as much as we could in our 3 day stay in Paris. This was very helpful for us as money was wearing thin after 22 days traveling Europe already. The room was basic with a bed, table, closet, and a sink but it was clean and had a home feel to it. We had two big windows overlooking the street from the 4th floor and we shared several glasses of wine peering out at the night sky. The bathroom is shared by the inhabitants of the fourth floor with the toilet separate from the shower. Honestly we never managed to bump into anyone else on the third floor so this was not an inconvenience at all. There is a spiral staircase leading up to the rooms or a teeny tiny 2 person elevator is also available. We loved the elevator and got some funny pictures to share with family. The breakfast however not included in the stay, was super cheap as compared to the tourist trap restaurants located nearby and was excellent. I ate croissants until I was about to bust at the seams and the sweet lady in the kitchen just kept bringing more. On Mr. Fabios advice, we departed to explore the city and had an excellent 3 day stay. The night before we left to head back to the US, Mr. Fabio asked us how we planned to get to the airport to catch our plane the following morning and we had been having so much fun that we hadn’t considered this yet. In all of the other cities we just usually had to “wing it” and ended up either walking several miles or paying tons of money to taxi drivers. He priced taxis for us but then informed us of a shuttle service he could arrange to take us to the airport for MUCH MUCH cheaper. We were running on the last of our funds so we jumped at this idea. He handled everything for us and when we came down from our room, he was waiting for us and offered us coffee to go and thanked us for staying there. We thanked him back and even exchanged hugs as he helped us put our bags in the shuttle van. Overall our experience at Hotel Picard was perfect. The price was great, the accommodations were great, the employees were incredible and went above and beyond to help two homesick love birds navigate Paris and return home safely. I’ve read the other reviews of this place and have seen some bad ones but trust me, after 22 days in Europe staying in different hotels almost every other night that cost way more than hotel Picard and made you feel scared to be there, this is a place you can appreciate with plenty privacy and that cozy feeling of home that lets you rest easy and wake up with adventure on your mind and love in your soul. Thanks again Mr. Fabio for your help and kindness.
Stayed here for a few nights at the start of January 2018. It wasn't a bad price and there were more good reviews than bad online. Checked in very late the first day so just went straight to bed. Woke up early and left the hotel for the day. Later on that day I noticed about 10 red marks over my body. Thought nothing off it at the time. Back to the hotel that night and was lying in bed when I felt something on my stomach. Looked down and there was 2 bed bugs on me! Pulled the sheets off the bed and saw quite a few more bed bugs! Went to reception and complained. Got moved to a new room. In the new room there was no blinds, only curtains on the windows. They were dirty, half falling off and didn't cover the whole window. The room was cold so I turned the radiator on but it didn't work. The light switch beside the bed was hanging off the wall. Tried to get a shower the next day and had to fix the shower door myself as it wouldn't close. The shower head also kept falling off the holder. On the last 2 days of my trip there wasn't hot water. The only reason I didn't leave was because I spent very little time in the hotel and I only really needed somewhere to sleep and shower. The only good points are that the bed is very comfortable and the price is cheap. Although, now I'm covered in bed bug bites for the next few weeks, I'm starting to think that what I paid was even too much.
We had an excelent stay in this hotel, Mr. Fábio gave us a warm reception! Thank you very much! He gave us directions to important things to see in Paris. The room is good and clean. The food of the hotel is good too.
We have stayed here before and this time so disappointing. Had a terrible room facing the inner void and no sunshine or skyline in view We were able to hear the water pipes all night long . We booked a double bed and got twin beds and we requested a room facing outside onto the street the next morning and we were told it was fully booked ! Hmm by invisible people ! We were advised it was under new management and the ladies on reception were lovely however the male manager was rude and delighted in making fun of tourists . I think in the wrong job . What a shame as it is in a wonderful area and it is so reasonably priced for Paris. . The street facing rooms are okay but shabby. Will we go back .......not sure ....... probably one more chance.
The front desk man ( around 50yrs old) is really unfriendly and bad attitude. be aware!!! He was trying to make us pay for second time, which is what they were trying to every guests, i realised that after i read reviews everywhere.. this is not acceptable. fantastic location with easy access to everywhere, but thats the only advantage of it. toliet with a very bad conditions, i am sure there is not even heating during winter. please spend your money somewhere else, you get what you paid for, seriously.!!!!
5 months ago they charged me in cash, and month later charged my credit card for the same amount. Ignored all my emails and call requests for refund. Waist of time and money. Scammers. Read Googlemaps reviews before booking.
