Holiday Inn Paris - Gare de Lyon Bastille

4.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Nice hotel. Large, Comfortable rooms. Staff was really great. Downsides: Tiny old elevator, right next door to a Sex Shop but otherwise the neighborhood is fine. Close to train/metro/bus and 10-15 min walk to Center statue of Bastille (would have preferred a bit closer but the place really was great)

The location of the hotel was good. We were able to hop on and off the buses around lots of restaurants. The hotel itself was old.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn - Gare de Lyon to attend an international conference at La Defense. The best reason to select this hotel is its very close proximity to Gare de Lyon, one of the major train stations in Paris. This allowed our commutes to be effortless. The hotel itself is clean and welcoming, with nice rooms with small balconies that overlook the busy streets - a pleasing view. The bathrooms are fine, but the bathroom door has to be slammed shut for privacy, and there are no locks. One evening, my colleague slammed too hard, and a bathroom tile fell out and cracked on the floor. The hotel staff were kind about the incident and did not blame us, but their demeanor hinted that this may not be the first time such an incident occurred. On our last evening, we bought a couple bottles of wine from the nearby grocery store, and the hotel bartender was kind enough to provide us glassware and bottle service for a few hours. We felt that was quite nice and beyond the call of duty. Overall, I would say that this hotel is an excellent choice if proximity to a major train station is your most important criterion. For other criteria, the hotel is good, but not remarkable.

We were pleasantly surprised, given the reviews we read here, at the modern, clean and comfortable room. The staff didn't slobber all over us, but they were friendly and helpful enough. The bathroom, along with the translucent wall that separates it from the outer room, was very stylish. There is a noisy and bustling street outside, with constant honking. It it is Paris, after all. The hotel and the room are a million times cleaner and more pleasant than the filthy and disgusting metro station one block away, and a very nice oasis to retreat to after enduring said filthy and disgusting metro station. Take a cab to this hotel if you can afford it. Take cabs everywhere in Paris if you can afford it.

The location was great. 1 block from the Metro. Only truely bad part of hotel is they were doing remodeling and a jackhammer was being used. Started at 9:00am impossible to sleep in and staff did not seem to care.

Location is ideal, next to busy metro/train station Gare de Lyon. Room was modern, clean and comfortable. Staff friendly. The rates were modest. Overall, a great hotel find in Paris; one I would go back to on my return visits.

Did not get requested room, extra charges for everything!

The room was inviting and comfortable. The staff was great. Good location to Metro.

Really comfortable rooms and beds. Clean, friendly.

The Hotel was comfortable and the staff was generally accomodating. The bar was closed due to renovation. However the hotel is in a rather seedy section of Paris and has a "Sexy Shop" next to the front door along with a regular "working girl." I don't think I would have stayed there if I had known the location was so bad.

Overall, very clean, nice modern hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. However, hotel was under renovation and some amenities to include ice and room service were not available. In addition, found it odd that we had to specifically request an iron and leave a deposit while using it.

Wonderful experience, very friendly and helpful staff, great location between two metro stops. Easy access to everywhere.

no ice machine worded at all, asked for ice they said" bring a bag for some and we will give you some" sink blocked for 12 of 13 days,no hot water for shower 2 nights, hookers outside front door at night was approaced, main lights did not work sat night informed maint not availkable till Monday, no wash cloths in bathroom they do not provide,no ice bucket proveded, promised water in ref due to hotel remodeling given it only two dys out of 13,shampoo not refilled half the time, disposable glass,s not replaced daily, keys had to be replaced 3 times due to moving of front desk, construction, staff was great but management needs to have better policies & procedures in place.

Although the location was good-- easy access to the Seine and other sites, the hotel was undergoing reconstruction, so there was no real lobby and the entranceway was a mess. Supplies were skimpy, maid service once left hand towels instead of bath towels. Rooms were attractive but too small. Staff was friendly but surprisingly unknowledgeable about good restaurants.I would not stay at this hotel again. Also, internet access was ridiculously expensive. Having been to Paris many times, this was one of the more demoralzing hotel experiences.

- We were on a tight schedule and this hotel did us good, though there was heavy renovation going in the lobby, the rooms were clean (small though) - the biggest advantage is the proximity to the station.

We found the staff extremely helpful

The Holiday Inn Paris-Bastille was very comfortable. The king sized bed was wonderful and very clean. The staff was a little abrupt at times and couldn't advise us on many of our questions. Thankfully we bought a guidebook to aid us. The bathroom was spacious and nice. And the location was wonderful! It was literally one block away from the subway station and a major railway Gare de Lyon. Also it was in a quite neighborhood with shops and restaurants close by. Overall it was wonderful stay that will not be forgotten quickly!
