Very nice vibe at this hotel that you don’t get at the cookie cutter chain hotels.

The bed was amazingly comfortable! The water pressure in the shower was awesome! Due to some flooding or other problems, the lounge was under construction and it was a maze getting from the lobby to the elevator to reach our room. There was no staff to help carry our luggage and no cart within sight, so carrying our own luggage up the elevator and around the maze was a bit challenging for these 2 60+ something girls.

Love the location on the river and the location downtown with great coffee shops and a bagel restaurant nearby for breakfast.

Great location in downtown Northfield. Poor Wifi with intermittent connectivity.

This was our first stay at an older historic type hotel, and we've enjoyed it. The room was very clean and orderly. I like that even though the bathroom and such are updated with modern conveniences, they still maintain an "older" quant look. if you stay here understand that it's not a chain tour hotel south every room the same. We enjoyed having the Tavern restaurant and bar both in the hotel also, especially since the weekend we visited there was a snowstorm. All of my interactions with hotel, bar, and restaurant staff were pleasant and positive. A definite positive experience.

Nice hotel. Great location. Enjoyed my visit. Stores, restaurants, coffee shops and Northfield historical society are all within walking distance. Park in the lot behind the building.

Perhaps not a great experience because both TV and WiFi were not working. Staff told me it was an area wide outage? Room was a postage stamp. I suppose the hotel is old and just very utilitarian.

I was visiting for training. The location was great and close to all my need. Love the atmosphere.

The rooms are tiny-- not even a closet, dresser, or desk...but they are comfy and cheery. The location, right downtown is great.

Our room was spacious and nice, and the staff were pleasant enough, but there were endless problems, some minor, others more disturbing. For the minor issues: • our slippery tub did not drain well and the “repair” (if it even happened) did not seem to make much difference. • Housekeeping didn’t notice we were out of Kleenex for two days. Major problems: • Several fire exit landings and other access hallways were almost impassable because of junk like old chairs, screens and other broken furniture. • The main bannister had a projecting nail that took a chunk out of one of my fingers when I leaned on it to support my weight . The nail was new but should not have been left in. They gave me 20% off on checkout but I’d rather have felt safe and have my finger in one piece.

Visiting St Olaf and Carleton and Archer House is convenient to both as well as restaurants in Northfield.

We enjoyed this historic hotel and its variety of shops and eating choices. There are several restaurants and shops on the premises, and the terrific little downtown is all around. It's also an easy walk to Carleton, which we were visiting.

We did a last-minute reservation so that we could enjoy a quiet weekend. The room was clean and quiet and near everything in town. We would definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay. We had a nice view of the river.

Our reservation was initially for 2 queen room. When we got there the room was 1 bed (didn't quite look like queen size), and a day bed. TV power/cable cords were hanging out between the bed and wall (very narrow space). Carpet was dated and stained in spots. Door had an actual metal key (which is fine), but it took some doing each time to lock the door when we would leave the room.

Historic and full of character, small quirky room, full size bed and trundle. But all was perfect for us! Located downtown with lots of coffee houses, antique shops, taverns, clothing and other shops. River runs behind Inn. 2 blocks from Carleton Univ. Loved it and would stay there again.

Thank you for your review! As you can tell, we are working hard at renovating after the fire and flood that happened last year. I will forward this on to the appropriate departments. We want to accommodate our guests needs as much as possible and getting through the hallways is not always straight forward in our beautiful old building! We look forward to your next visit with us!

Thank you for your review! we value all guest feedback to increase guest satisfaction as a whole. I apologize that the issue with our internet and cable provider impacted your stay. The entire Northfield area was effected of which was later found out was a nationwide issue with the provider. This issue has since been resolved. In the future should you be looking for accommodations, it is my hope that we are an option for you.
