This hotel is in a good location, and is walking distance to Parliament Hill, the Ottawa Market, and Confederation Square that houses the war memorial. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very nice with lots of variety.
Kitchen is well furnished, room is quiet, staff cordial and helpful, great value for Winterlude. Located conveniently for events and shopping. Complementary hot breakfast is served in ample portions, lots of selection for kids, even gluten free bread if asked, and in a spacious dining area.
Stayed here a few times. It is now my first choice for hotel in Ottawa. Within walking distance of all major sites in downtown Ottawa, and close to bus stop for destinations further away, including airport. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The one-bedroom suite was perfect with full kitchen and clean washroom. The included breakfast had everything you could want. Excellent in every way.
Location is within a very short walking distance to Parliament Hill, The Market and the Canal. Very convenient. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Very clean staff are friendly. Morning breakfast service is great - something available for everyone.
The residence inn staff is always very hospitable and friendly. I’ve never had any problems with staff or rooms. I love the suites and the location. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, particularly those staying for a few days or weeks.
My wife and I stayed at the Residence Inn Ottawa in February 2018 while in town on business. Below are some observations from our stay: PROS - Check in was quick and easy. In 5 minutes we were in our room. Just to note, the front desk is on the 4th floor and if you are coming in late you'll have to ring the bell at the front door to get let in. - Breakfast is included! And what a good breakfast it is. Eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, bagels, cereal, fruit, juice, etc. - Location is excellent. Close to Elgin, Sparks, Parliament, The Rideau Canal and Shopping centre, and the Market. There are a wide variety of restaurants close by, plus the Tim Hortons on the ground floor. - The lobby bar in the Metcalfe Hotel (attached to the Residence) is good for drinks and appetizers. - Both my wife and I found the bed to be very comfortable with nice linens. - Full kitchen in the room. - Wifi was free and was a strong signal (we were in room 917) CONS - The only con I can come up with is the room was dated. The wall paper and carpets could be updated, along with the kitchen and bathroom. - One of our friends stayed in another room facing Metcalfe on a high floor. She thought it was noisy because of the snow removal equipment. We didn't have this problem. I would recommend the Residence to anyone visiting Ottawa and will likely stay here again when back in town.
I was in Ottawa for a training seminar in the downtown area. This hotel was the perfect location not only for our seminar but handy to restaurants, stores and parliament. Check in went smooth with our rooms being ready early. Staff was all really nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet was great with an extensive selection and lots of seating. I was really impressed that the eggs were not overly processed but prepared fresh. I didn't take advantage of the evening offerings that were available from Mon - Wed 6:00-7:30 PM. I used the hotel gym; one of the better gyms I've been in for a non resort hotel. The rooms are an amazing size; basically a one bedroom apartment and really clean. My only complaint, and not really a complaint as much as an observation is the rooms are a little dated and could do with an update. I would definitely stay here if in Ottawa again.
Great rooms, big breakfast, walking distance to Confederation Park and Rideau canal. I was very grateful that they put us next to our friends who were traveling with us for the weekend. The pool and hot tub were very nice at the end of the day.
Fourth stay at the hotel and smallest suite I have stayed in to date. Still spacious with a small kitchenette and sitting area in a single room set-up. Would be a little more cramped with two people, but was more than fine alone.
Pros: Very spacious suites, great family breakfast included in rate, full kitchens, location right downtown, Tims on main floor of hotel. Cons: A little dated, Check-in on 4th floor instead of main entrance. Overall a great place for a family getaway to Ottawa.
