Having stayed at the Villa Fontaine Ueno in Tokyo at the start of our trip, this Villa Fontaine was the last hotel we stayed in and was very similar in its friendly service, cleanliness and its included breakfast buffet. The location of this hotel is fantastic, with markets and shops right at its doorstep. Our room, however, was very small, with a little noise pollution and extremely hard mattresses - for some this may be a positive but I can't get to sleep on hard mattresses so I didn't get a great deal of rest in our time at Osaka!
The hotel is 5mins walk from train station. It is a small hotel but the room is clean and cozy. Value added good Japanese breakfast. For the price, it is worth it. My mum and I are happy with the double bed and toilet is clean.
Locate right at center of most attractions. Short walks to Dotonbori, Kuromon market etc. Good choice for night life seekers. Room is good size in Japanese standard. There is even a foot massage machine in the room. We regretted buying the breakfast option. In the 5 days stay the breakfast were exactly the same. There is no official restaurant but the side of the front desk for serving breakfast. The breakfast area will then be a space for luggage storage
First night in Japan, so thought the room was quite small initially, however by the end of our trip realised that this was one of the bigger rooms we stayed in. The staff were very helpful and friendly, advising on what to see and do in Osaka. Location was excellent. Breakfast was pretty average, but plenty of places surrounding that were good to eat at.
An excellent location for visiting Kobe. Only a easy walk from the station giving walking access to various attractions, the CBD with restaurants ,shopping and entertainment. By Japonese standards the rooms were of a good size (we stayed in two hotels after this visit that could only be described as small and tiny), they were comfortable and clean, Wifi included, good beds and the bathroom and accessories were excellent. Very good staff as well. The surprise was that breakfast was included in the price of the stay and it was very reasonable as we took advantage of it every morning of our stay. I recommend that you do some exploring of the various small streets and hidden arcades that lie within 300 metre's of the hotel (especially to the left as you walk out of the hotel and towards the station) Lots of cafe's, restaurants and shopping. For site seeing i recommend that your head south west towards the harbour. It a reasonable walk with lots to see. Head towards Higashiyuenchi Park (worthwhile, free) and is the Kobe City Museum (worthwhile, small cost), then to the earthquake memorial park (free), then Kawasaki World (a must , its not just motor bikes, it all sorts of stuff including an amazing robot display, there is an entrance fee). Then Meriken park , Kobe tower and Harborland. There's lots to do in an afternoon or a full day. Exploring the city to the north of the railway line is great fun, the Ikuta shrine is a bonus. I can thoroughly recommend the Hotel Villa Fontaine as a good value stay for a visit to explore Kobe. Pete & Claire from Australia
One night for business trip in this hotel. Wifi was good. breakfast is quiet good. Room is small but really confortable and really calm which is important. All what you need for a good stay. Good location.
Staffs are nice and helpful. Room though small but are very clean and comfortable bed. Their Japanese style breakfast taste good. Location is just beside the shopping mall and near to station. We have a great time shopping and eating.
We stayed at this hotel for one night. I would describe it as 'ok'. Pros - the location is very good. It's quite clean. Cons - the room is very small. It's clean but dated, the room smelt of wet towels and everything looked quite old. If this hotel had been a bargain price we wouldn't have minded but it was expensive. Breakfast smelt and looked terrible. The dining area is tiny and not big enough to cater to all the guests for breakfast. We went to Starbucks. I would search for other hotel options.
It's very close for convenience store, Shopping mall and Shopping Street. Take 10 mins to Dotonburi by walk. It's very comfortable to transpoting, shopping, eating, hangout. Room is very clean. Take Shinsaibashi Station by 5 minutes walk.
We traveled to Osaka, Japan last September 4 - 8, 2016. We initially had a difficult time locating the hotel. We arrived at the Shinsaibashi station at around 9 in the evening and were getting lost in the streets of Shinsaibashi. We asked a girl for directions and she was kind enough to search for the hotel in her smartphone and walked with us until we reached the hotel (it was around 3 or 4 blocks away across the street). Japanese people are very kind (the same thing happened to us in Nagoya). To locate the Hotel, from KIX ride the Nankai line going to Namba station. At Namba Station, transfer to the Midosuji Line to go to Shinsaibashi Station. At Shinsaibshi station, you must exit at either Exit 9 or 11. I think you should walk one or two blocks more. You should be able to see shops like Fendi, Max Mara, Daimaru. The you should go inside the corner where you see Under Armour, Step, and Shinsaibashi Suji, and then turn right on the next corner. The third or fourth building in the right side is Hotel Villa Fontaine Shinsaibashi. The girl in the reception checked us in right away, no fuss. When we got into the room, we didn't know how to turn on the aircon. We used Google Translate App to help us translate the characters in the remote control. We got the aircon to work, and we're satisfied with the temperature in the room. The room size is just enough for the two of us. The bed is soft and firm, with warm comforters, and 4 memory foam pillows. The foot and leg massager is a bonus. There's hot shower, good set of toiletries, bath and face towels, a pair of pajama-like robes/dresses, slippers, toothbrush, comb, razors, bath sponges, etc. The water heater is available which we used to cooked instant noodles. Breakfast buffet is served daily from 7:00 - 9:30am. There's a lot of food. I think it's a Japanese breakfast - meat balls, salmon and trout, soy, salad with three dressings, scrambled egg, rice, porridge, miso soup, mixed vegetables, etc. And then there's milk, coffee, orange juice, oolong tea and water. There's a variety of bread with margarine and strawberry jam. The food choices are pretty much good to give us energy for a long day of travelling. When we checked in on our last day at 11am, they allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel lobby. We shopped a bit more along Shinsaibashi - there a so many shops in the street adjacent to the hotel, which is so very convenient. Namba is also just a station away, where you will find the popular tax-free shop Don Quijote. After shopping, we've got another bag to carry along with the rest of our luggage. Being able to leave our bags at the hotel lobby allowed us to enjoy the Shinsaibashi area a little bit more before we leave for the airport. Going to the airport, the Shinsaibashi station will lead you to Namba station where you can take the Nankai line going to Kansai International Airport. We really had a good time at Osaka. Overall, the Hotel Villa Fontaine Shinsaibashi has a good location, which made going all over Kansai very convenient.
