ANA Crowne Plaza Osaka4.0 out of 5.0

This restaurant and the ANA Crowne is worth skipping if you may have an important business dinner for 5 ppl that requires a private dining room and coordination between the Club Lounge and their Karin Chinese Restaurant. You start the process with Club Lounge personnel, select your date, select your time, select a private dining room and finally select the $175 p/p best set menu that the restaurant offers and you mistakenly believe that all is set. You arrive back at your room and find a message light is lit and you speak with a very nice ANA Hotel Employee that informs you that the Club Lounge and Karin personnel forgot to mention that there is also a 5,000 yen charge for use of the private dining room. No problem, you quickly approve the added charge because it’s a mere $45 against a business meal that will cost $1,500 all-in and the objective of the evening is to entertain some important business guests and not try to cut corners on making it a nice experience for everyone. You arrive at the appointed date and time and find that the Karin Restaurant has no reservation, has not been informed of any menu selection and they have nothing prepared for your party. You then find that there is a God, because it happens to be a sloowww night for the Karin Restaurant and they “happen” to have a private dining room, and they can prepare a menu but the process is slowwww, uncoordinated and remarkably poorly managed. The highlight of the evening occurs when a little 3 year old girl (totally cute) leans against the wall of an adjoining private dining room and falls right into our room. Her expression was priceless and I couldn’t have paid for better entertainment! Sadly, she had to leave our room and rejoin her group that was horrified by her sudden disappearance. LOL. In any event, one would have expected the Karin Restaurant manager to at least extend an apology...nope! Not that night. Never to return to ANA Crowne Plaza and certainly never to return to Karin. I normally stay at the fantastic Intercontinental Osaka, and my regret was to “try” the ANA Crowne Plaza... next time it’s Intercontinental. IHG Red Spire Elite Member
This mid range hotel is located right on the river (Kita area), Although it is about a 30 minute walk to Dotombori there is a lot of shopping, restaurants, bars nearby. If you don't want to walk to Dotombori taxis are inexpensive or you can take mass transit. This is a full service hotel including restaurants, pool, onsen, etc. Rooms are large by Japanese standards. We arrived early morning and although our room was not available we were able to leave our bags while we went to explore Osaka. We also had a box of gifts shipped from the US directly to the hotel and the hotel had no problem holding it until our arrival. When we got to our room the tv was not working but once we let the front desk know they fixed it right away. Also, we got a room with a view of the river. It was fun to see the sightseeing boats on the river and also people watch. We would certainly consider staying here again.
Stayed in this large, central hotel as did not know the area. Shuttle bus to Station and shops was a great benefit and we used it many times. Spacious rooms for Japan and breakfast buffet was good - without being too over the top. Light and airy breakfast area.
Very near to Osaka Station this hotel is very beautiful. Big and very clean rooms with all the services you can ask for. People inside is very polite and you can ask for any suggestion you need. Reccomended.
Even being upgraded to crown club room in the 19th floor I didn’t find anything outstanding. Size is appropriate for this price category. Of course, as usual in Japan, rooms are very clean. On the above average level were two things. One is the club lounge in the 24th floor which gives it a possibility to have a nice after dinner meeting chat in a very quiet atmosphere. The other is the very helpful and friendly staff. Very recommendable.
Great location with a shuttle that takes you to Osaka station Staff very helpful Rooms are a good size and excellent amenities Tea, coffee, fridge Free WiFi Very close to many restaurants and easy to walk around
Hotel was OK - small rooms, mostly catered to business trips. I joined my husband on the tail end of his for an extended Japan trip. The hotel tried to charge him extra for a 2nd person even though I only joined on the last minute (literally just slept and left at 6am the next morning for Kyoto).
Stayed at ANA Crowne Plaza Osaka for 5 nights during a business trip. The room size are bit small and that’s almost the norm in Japan, however it serves the purpose for one guest. The bathroom was small also but very clean and well equipped with everything you need including an automatic WC which is also the norm in Japan for most of the 5 stars hotels. Staff are helpful and nice. The breakfast served is acceptable but better is expected from a 5 start hotel which expects guests from non oriental countries. The buffet could offer more varieties. Overall, it’s excellent and highly recommended. It’s also adjacent to an area called (Umeda) where lots of shops and restaurants are located.
Stayed 2 nights on a single room which is very compact, clean and appear to be recently updated. Many restaurants are within 5 min walking distance but serious shopping could be had at around Osaka station which is about 1km away (approx 10 min walk). Tip: hotel does provide a free shuttle bus service to Osaka Station.
I stayed at this hotel for 5 night and must say that it was a pleasant stay with all the restaurants located just at 2 min distance, the staff was really well informed really helpful. If anyone stays here I would also recommend to visit a bar named sapphire just on the left side of the alleyway beside the hotel. The bar tender made some of the must have local drinks for me . I would be more than happy to stay here for my next visit .
