The golf course that was open looked great. However I heard that part of the course is no longer being maintained. I spoke to a member of staff in May and was told that all maintenance staff and greenkeepers had been laid off. And that all other staff apart from Security would be unemployed on May 31st 2019. Looks like the resort is in trouble. Buyer beware.

Wanted to play here again this year but was told the complex was in trouble and consequently the course was not up to its usual high standards, we decided to play and yes if you left the fairway then chances of finding your ball were very slim however the course overall was not that bad

First of all, Apes Hill Polo and Golf club is a fantastic place to stay. Beautiful 3 bedroom villas, breath taking views, gorgeous pools and away from the hustle and bustle for those that like to wind down. I have stayed at Apes Hill 3 times now and have nothing but great things to say about the resort. This post however is to WARN people that not all units are created equal. This was our 3rd visit to Apes Hill and we found out the hard way that POLO VILLA 9 is missing some key amenities that the other two units we stayed at (Unit 2 and Unit 7) included for the same price. MISSING: 1. Free fast track at the airport! You have seen the lineups at customs, they can be excruciatingly long. Fast track allows you to bypass the customs lineup and you are escorted to a priority queue by an agent. Seamless, simple, perfect. Our previous two visits included this perk with an approximate value of $100 USD per adult. This was NOT included with Polo Villa 9. If I wanted to take my family through the fast track while staing at Polo Villa 9, our family of 6 would have to pay approx $600 USD. This was free the previous two visits!! 2. Free airport shuttle to Apes Hill. After a long flight, it is really nice to be taken directly to your villa with the rental car (if you need one) waiting for you at the villa. In both previous trips, this was how the trip started. Not this time. The shuttle was not included and we had to rent a car at the airport and drive to Apes Hill. Manageable, but such a nice touch to be dropped off with the rental car waiting. Again, Polo Villa 9 directed us to a rental car agency, but did NOT include the free shuttle/taxi. 3. Partnership with Fairmont Hotel. Since Apes Hill is inland and not on the beach, the previous two trips and units had partnerships with the Fairmont Hotel. This would allow you to drive down to the Fairmont, park right on the beach and access the beach chairs for absolutely no charge. What an amazing perk. Unit 9 had no such deal and while there are plenty of beautiful free and public beaches, you need to find your own lounger and negotiate daily. In fairness, I didn't noticed that Polo Villa 9 was missing these really nice touches when I booked the vacation. I assumed that my experience the 3rd time around would have been just like the first two - I was wrong. This is my WARNING to future people looking to stay at Apes Hill that you should be very careful what amenities are included when you book.

The Apes Hill Villas are 3 b/r villas each with its own pool and a view of the golf course. A wonderful place for family and friends. The villas are beautifuly designed and well maintained. It's location is a bit distant from the beach, restaurants etc. But its a great place to stay in and enjoy the company of family and friends, in a quiet, scenic atmosphere.

Stayed here some time ago but only now got round to reviewing. We rented one of the private villas and had a very peaceful holiday in a beautiful location from where we enjoyed both coasts of Barbados. We particularly enjoyed breakfast on the veranda at the club house where the staff were just lovely. There isn’t much to do for children or teenagers but for couples looking for a peaceful beautiful spot it is just perfect.

We ate here for my birthday lunch. Unfortunately the chicken wings were raw and bloody in the middle. The Bahi Bahi main course was presented well, with the exception of the soggy chips. Feel a little disappointed. Great cocktails though and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The golf course is shabby around the edges and not presented to the standard of the nearby course at Royal Westmoreland.

We stayed in a villa on site, was stunning, watched polo and eat at the club, the food lovely had breakfast and lunch but never eat in the evening as they close at 5.30 and were still on the beach at that time and staff are great. Unfortunately don't play golf but facilities were amazing.

Apes hill villa this is my second stay but after a white neighbor came and nock on my door to ask me when I’m leaving it turn me off from every staying at Apes Hill Polo every again I was planning and making apes hill my vacation home in Barbados because I love the place so much I told all my resident and co workers all about it ,so to the white neighbor black people like nice things too...

DO NOT STAY IF YOU ARE A YOUNG FAMILY We stayed at apes hill villa in november to celebrate my mother and fathers 60th birthday. Started on a high but ended on a low. Apes hill is set on beautiful grounds. We only rented out the villa and did not play golf or polo. I would not stay at this complex again personally as we stayed with our 3 month old baby and there was a massive leak throughout the night that surrounded her cot, when I woke up to feed her in the middle of the night we both slipped and I had to throw her on the bed so she did not injure herself and I hit the floor (I ended up spending half of a day in hospital during my stay as my back and hip was hurting me so much) when I rang and asked for the manager of the complex to come first of all they sent the manager of house keeping then the sales manager (like I wanted to buy a villa) after explaining to the sales manager Linda she called me and said they will try and move us villas and that we could come and dine at there restaurant to 'drink some champagne and relax' needless to say these were all just broken promises and lies. They could or would not move us villas. They got the handy men to patch the hole and we had to hope that it didn't happen again. The room had mold on the ceiling and I was worried about this with such a young baby so my baby and I spend 2 nights sleeping in the dining room. With me on the sofa. When we rang back to get our complimentary meal (we chose breakfast) which works out around £17 each for a full English for 2 people we were told they were no longer going to honor this as 'it is not there fault the villa leaked' and if they gave us a complimentary breakfast 'apes hill would lose money' the villa owner did give a nights stay back. Even though they manage the properties for these people around the world they don't really take responsibility for when things go wrong. If you are a family I would not stay here  it's not family friendly. The pool need a revamp  it's disgusting and not something I would swim in I didn't even dip my daughters toes in. I was really left with a bitter taste after and in the end from the amount of money you pay to stay here was disappointed with my stay. My mum, dad, brother and cousins stayed for another week (with a two year old) and the drama did not end there. All the water stopped working in just there villa (they asked around) they could not wash for a whole day and we're given Bottles of water to flush the toilet. In the end they had no choice but to move them villas. This was villa number  2 and it was full of problems. We were dealing with a lady called Tamara and she was great, half way through our stay she left the job but was replaced with the lovely Carla. We asked on numerous occasions to speak to the manager Donovan but guess he was too busy or we was not important enough as we did not play golf (for them to make extra money) for him to show his face. Linda turned up and made up all these promises then left poor Carla to deliver the bad news. To be honest Carla made me feel much better just by her personality and if not for her this review would be even worse - the management team are terrible! Apes hill is far from everything so make sure you rent a car as you cant even walk to the shop so with kids it makes it harder or if you are older. So to wrap this up I would not come back as this place does not take responsibility and I started to generally feel unsafe and worries if anything happens it is all bushed off. I'm am just thankful that the accident was not worse. Slipping backwards on water with tiled floors was so dangerous and that could have gone a lot worse.

Apes Hill Club is a must for the polo player with family. There aren't many places where you can easily combine a family beach holiday with polo, but the beautiful Island of Barbados and the Apes Hill Club certainly fits this niche. Oh and if that is not enough, it has the most incredible golf course too!!
