Explore the Great Lakes with an Ohio treehouse stay

Ohio sits in the midwest of the United States, and is well-known for its buckeye trees, of which you’ll find dotted all over the state. Along with buckeye trees, Ohio is home to some of the country’s most outstanding scenery, including the Mohican State Park, the Hocking Hills, and the Great Lakes. With superb museums, cosmopolitan cities and a burgeoning food scene close to your Ohio treehouse, you’ll never be short of things to do.

About Ohio treehouses

Staying in Ohio treehouses doesn’t mean compromising on comfort. You can find a treehouse designed by the likes of Pete Nelson, from TV’s Treehouse Masters, of whom created the famous Little Red Treehouse and the White Oak Treehouse. Alternatively, try a cabin treehouse designed by Kevin Mooney, with modern amenities such as air conditioning, a hot tub, an outdoor shower, and spare rooms available in many rooms.

Shopping

For handcrafted goods and fresh produce, head to Berlin in Amish Country. Alternatively, if you prefer everything under one roof, head to Columbus. As you’d expect of a state capital, Columbus offers an excellent range of malls and outlet stores, while Cleveland is the best place to go for big-name brands and designer goods.

Tourist attractions

Take the family for a day out at Cedar Point Amusement Park. This historic park is packed with a world-record 72 rides, including 17 rollercoasters. If you’d prefer to soak up the scenery of Ohio state, head to Cuyahoga Valley National Park where 19th-century railroads and tranquil waterfalls ripple throughout.

Events

For live music, make your way to Dayton during June when the soothing tones of the Dayton Jazz Festival can be heard across town. If you plan on visiting in July, you won’t want to miss the Glass City Balloon Race. This free weekend event hosts balloon flights from dawn until dusk, with family-friendly activities such as inflatables and rides available too.

Getting around

Many Ohio cabin treehouses are close to the main attractions in the state. To see the width and breadth of the state, hop aboard one of Ohio’s many trains, while cabs, streetcars and bicycles are popular forms of inner-city transport.
