Riverside is set in the peaceful village of Kilmelford, this detached holiday home is in an ideal location for exploring the west coast of Scotland. The village boasts a pub, café, shop and post office. Kilmelford Yacht Haven allows guests the opportunity to bring their own boats and yachts and kayaks. Nearby Oban offers a more extensive range of services with good shopping, a leisure centre, cinema and a selection of good seafood restaurants. From Oban catch a ferry to the Inner Hebrides, including Mull, Iona and Staffa, or head south to Kennacraig for a ferry to Islay and Gigha. The area is steeped in history, and rich in archaeological and historical remains. Kilmartin Glen has at least 350 ancient monuments, of which 150 are prehistoric. Explore the Crinan Canal, Knapdale National Scenic Area, or head to the Kintyre Peninsula with white sandy beaches and a rugged coastline. The area has an abundance of wildlife with porpoise, dolphins, minke whales and basking sharks often seen. Bird watching highlights include sea eagles, golden eagles and puffins, while otters, seals, and deer can also be spotted. Close by there are plenty of walks and outdoor activities with horse riding, fishing, cycling, golf and a variety of watersports available. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, rugged glens and sea lochs this is truly a perfect getaway. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

The property is rented through a second agency so communication was not easy. The cottage itself was very nice. Good location between Oban and Kilmartin. Just a warning about very slippery floors. It was nice to have a sunroom. Unfortunately there was no coffee and no store near by. We also only had laundry detergent for 1 load. The place was roomy but a couple of extra blankets would have been nice. Main floor was not heated and one of our kids slept on the couch.

Perfect location. Big garden for the dog. Plenty space in the house. Heating and hot water on tap. Would definitely book again
