Leave this hotel away!!! When I entered the room at 10pm during Labor Day holiday, the room temperature was 86ºF and the terrible bathroom smell made me hardly to breathe. Dirty and noisy. I asked the hotel staff to fix the AC, and the staff told me no AC in the entire hotel at all!!! So bad experience I've ever had in the world !

Great staff. Rooms ok for the price.........................

Talked to the Manager and his excuse was that PG&E where not doing anything and not giving a update as to when the power would come on. I suggested he at least let guests know what's going on. I didn't see anyone on duty last night and the pizza restaurant next door was operating with full power. Did see him taking pictures for some sort of insurance claim. A very unsettling night and was expecting a partial refund. I'm the paying guest and expect more. C- for effort and attitude. Will be in touch with orbitz. further.

The hotel fit a need for an affordable price. I simply needed a decent place to stay that was clean and minimalist. A few things that were of concern: the housekeeping was inconsistent. They always came by, but what they did each time was different, and on two occasions, they did not refill my coffee supplies or cups for the next day, and I had to go to the office to get more. I do not think they mop the bathroom floors. I froze my butt off the first night, as the bedding was insufficient and the heater was old and rickety. When I turned the heater on, it worked, but it clicked, popped, and banged all night. Also be aware that the keys to the room are electronic and the office is only open 8 am til midnight. If you arrive after midnight or accidentally clear your key by getting it too close to your cell phone after midnight, you will be SOL for getting back into your room that night. Also be aware that you have to ask for a hairdryer in the office as there is none in the room. However, the room had a clean and working fridge and microwave. All that said, I would stay here again. I was on a budget and it was affordable, the staff were nice, and the hotel met a lodging need. I also did not see even one bug anywhere in the room during my stay, even though the room was motel style with door opening to the outside elements.

Easy and convenient, very reasonable price, nice staff. I have stayed here several times

Clean older hotel. Slow WiFi. Needs new beds. Fluff for a longer review.

Good stay and hotel is just on fringe of downtown. I thought it was great for easy access to everything. The local Bart station is about a 7-8 minute walk away on Virginia, and there are eating options nearby. The room itself is basic and a bit dated, but the staff were helpful and great.

Great staff, good comfort. Decent location & good music

close to restaurants and shopping and cultural eventws

Day time was hot because AC didn't work, has fan in the room. Cold during the night luckily heater worked otherwise I maybe couldn't sleep yet all.

Everything was great for this price! Room with fridge, microwave, internet and tv! location is close to university ave., you can find loads of great food. going to downtown is easy too just 15mins of bus.

We travel back and forth between our home town and the City to visit relatives and try and stay in a different place each time absorbing the culture of San Francisco and surrounding areas. It is a little of the beaten path but clean and comfortable. It is a little hike from BART, but my wife and I enjoy walking and the neighborhood was quaint. The hotel was clean, parking was a little tight. We enjoyed our stay but the bed was a little hard and didn't sleep well.

Single rooms are OK, double rooms are older and not the cleanest. Staff was helpful

This old school hotel is oriented away from the main street, so feels safer than many Berkeley hotels. It has the basics a traveler needs--internet, cable TV, a small frig and microwave. The staff is friendly and the location is central.

Sorry but not good. Walls paper thin, could hear everything in next room as if they were in my room. No way to turn heat off, or even down--had to open window all night just to keep room bearable. Pillows on bed are terrible. Would not stay again.

Not bad for the price. Their pictures are much better than reality. It is a very old motel (probably about 60 years old at least!). Almost everything is original I believe! You can consider it as a vintage motel I assume. But the staff are the best part of this motel, they are friendly and helpful. It is old but acceptable and clean I can say.

Great location. Easy access to Oakland Bay Bridge, Eastbay parks and Berkeley area. Surprisingly quiet. No air conditioning so it could be hot at certain times of year but room had nice air flow in June. Would stay here again.

not bad for the price. good location because it is close to family

So convenient to the University where we needed to be. Front desk was exceptional and for a very old establishment we felt it was great and charming. We will stay there again. Felt safe in the quaint neighborhood and loved the furniture store down the street and the restaurants close by.

Served the purpose of my visit, although the walls could be a little thicker and a scrub brush would do wonderful things for the bathroom floor.
