The name says it all. Although the name kind of sounds like a mortuary, don;t let that dissuade you. Our second visit to A Haven of Rest occurred about four months ago, an year after our first. Our stay was every bit as good as our first, maybe even better. Our home in Sunnyvale seems to have gotten noisier: at least six barking dogs close by, emergency vehicle sirens, airplanes overhead on approach to San Francisco International, even the commute train two miles away. As we were enjoying Jody's excellent breakfast, I remarked to my wife that even the birds' chirping seemed to be subdued. A Haven of Rest is still number one on my list of B and B's.
There may be places more fancy than this Bed & Breakfast (even though it is full of lovely and caring details). But it is hardly impossible to find owners with more commitment with their guests, with more passion and love for what they are doing. You really feel you are their guest, and they do everything to assure you an unforgettable time. I will never forget this extraordinary place and its kind and lovely owners: it will be difficult to have a better experience, as this has been PERFECT.
Jody and Mike were amazing! their bed and breakfast is top notch! They were very attentive, their breakfasts were delicious, their home was beautiful and comfortable. Loved their backyard, it had breathtaking views.
We just came back from the four day Yosemite trip. After a tiring day of walking and hiking (and a long flight!), the comfy bed and the quick hot tub were so soothing and comfortable. Morning breakfast was perfect to our taste, even to my picky eating son. It's only a few steps away from Oakhurst downtown, it's small but pretty and you can find everything here, lunch for the day, dinner and etc. Thanks Jody again for the hospitality and services.
Jody was exceptionally welcoming! This place is run with love and warmth, the rooms have a very 'homely' feel. We were very comfortable. The highlight was the HUGE King Size bed. The mattress and pillows were just perfect and gave us a great nights rest after a long journey. Breakfast was served outdoors and they went to extra lengths to accommodate and cut up a banana into small pieces for my 2-year old. This place really is a haven and perfectly located if you're planning a trip to Yosemite. Highly recommended!
I arrived here after a long day at Yosemite National Park with my father. The moment that I arrived, Jody greeted my father and me, asked us about our travels in the area, gave us trip advice, showed us our suite, then asked us where and at what time we wanted our breakfast. The suite included a full living room with a sleeper sofa, a separate, queen bedroom, a bathroom. The amenities included a pod coffee maker with cream and sweetener, a mini refrigerator and microwave, and a DVD library. A welcoming touch, Jody also provided answered our questions about the town and provided some literature about local attractions, as well as a list of menus for nearby restaurants. The comfortable space and welcoming atmosphere at A Haven of Rest certainly made my trip to the area nicer. I highly recommend it and will definitely return if I visit Yosemite again.
My husband and I just finished a 3-night stay at Haven of Rest B&B. We had 3 days of hiking and sightseeing planned in Yosemite Natl. Park, which is about 20 minutes away by car. A Haven of Rest was the perfect blend of hotel-like professionalism and warm hospitality, provided by Jody and Mike, the proprietors. It was as though they thought of everything that would make a guest's stay comfortable - robes, extra blankets, a stocked kitchenette, an intercom by which to communicate with them if you needed anything. And so much more. Unfortunately, we didn't get to take advantage of the hot tub (although Jody offered to heat it up for us with an hour's notice) or the large backyard. By the time we'd get back from Yosemite, it was too chilly and dark. But we enjoyed putting our feet up in the living room, watching TV or one of their selection of movies (VHS and DVD selections), drinking tea and relaxing. The bed was extremely comfortable. My husband is an habitual night owl and he was asleep by or before 10pm each night. I would highly recommend A Haven of Rest Bed and Breakfast to anyone wanting to visit the Yosemite area. I can't imagine that any hotel or lodge would be more comfortable, spacious, clean or quiet. Plus, there is only one suite, so privacy is guaranteed. Thank you, Mike and Jody!
This post is a bit late :-) since we stayed here in July 2016, but nonetheless I want to make sure the owners get the due praise they highly deserve. My husband booked this B&B for our family Yosemite summer vacation (2 adults, 2 children). He communicated with the owners before hand as we are vegetarians and he wanted to make sure we could be accommodated food wise. They were very accommodating and I was super pleased with the service, food and the facilities. The owners really pride themselves in keeping their property very well maintained, but they are also amazing at pleasing the customer's needs, desires, wants. The room is very spacious and they have stocked it, with everything possible a customer could need or want. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom was very nice too. We enjoyed the hot tub as well. The grounds are very nice and we enjoyed them every day. The plums from the tree were absolutely delicious. This B&B is also in a great location, because everything is fairly close by and not too far from the main highway. It would take us like 20 minutes to enter Yosemite everyday. We went into town for dinner at an Italian place, which was very good too (sorry I can't remember the name). The people in the town are very friendly. The grocery store is also near by. We also enjoyed a day at Bass Lake. This B&B is perfect in every way.
My wife and I stayed here during the christmas holiday, and it was AMAZING. -The meals were on point. -the company was out of this world. -The service was spectacular. -The room was cozy, warm, and very inviting. -The shower pressure was high and powerful..... just perfect! -The jetted swimmers hot tub was to die for.... spent every night in the tub in total privacy. -breathtaking sunsets and light snow created a magical evening all three nights. A Haven of Rest deserves 10stars. I'll be going back!
Stayed here at the end of May after a drive through Yosemite. I actually selected another B&B, but it had a two night minimum requirement and its proprietor recommended Haven as it allowed a single night stay. My wife and were not disappointed with our "second" choice as Haven of Rest ranks at the top of the list of B&B's we have stayed at! Very roomy suite with separate living room and bedroom. Clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Large library of VRC tapes, DVD's and books. Extremely quiet - even the air conditioner was quiet. This B&B has only a single unit, so there are no other guests. The nearest neighbor is quite a distance away and there is very little traffic in front of the house. A perfect getaway for honeymooners or those seeking isolation and quiet. "Haven of Rest" did sound like the name of a mortuary (yikes), but this B&B's experience lives up to its name. Jody is very accommodating about breakfast time as you are the only guest. The only downside is if you enjoy meeting other B&B travelers, that is not possible here. My wife and I, however, can't say enough about our one night of comfort and quiet at the Haven of Rest!
