Stayed here before and it is in a great location, but that's the only positive this trip. Stayed Nov/Dec for 2 weeks and unfortunately we prepaid. Entry to the Hotel is over hastly contructed timber ramps, uneven concrete, and narrow plywood tunnels. We were on one of the higher floors but were still woken early every morning by construction noise. This continues all day including jackhammers. The pool is closed, the restaurant including breakfast buffet is closed, half the elevators are closed. No ATM either. But we were still charged full price and Resort fees, it is a construction site not a Resort. Add to that garbage bins not emptied and we had to ask for toilet paper 3 different times as well as enough towels because they weren't in our room after being cleaned. We used to love this Hotel for the location but unfortunately will not be back again. Take my advice and stay somewhere else until after the renovations and construction is done.
All hotel and restaurant staff were great, but James Speight, Lead Consierge, was the epitomy of "service" lIke we never before experienced. His efforts made this the trip of a lifetime. Wish more space was allowed here to sing his praises, but we did so on Expedia and Outrigger websites.
Outstanding; hotel staff especially Hotel manager ;Lauren Yamamoto went above and beyond to take care of our Groups ! Very accommodating and convienant property with lots of options for our groups staying there
This hotel is in a great location of Waikiki. Everything from food, shopping to public transport is at the finger tips. Its a great hotel if your not happy to pay the crazy $$$$ to stay right on the beach. I would recommend spending extra $$ for a ocean/ partial ocean view room on a top floor. Hotel is currently under construction and will look fantastic once done however it was quite noisy during the day due to the works being done. Our room was amazing clean and fresh. Anita our house keeper was super sweet and left me little thank you notes. Beds/ pillows are so comfortable and sheets so fresh. Due to renovations we had to wait for the lifts on multiple occasions and the pool was closed however we were given the option to use the Outrigger reef or East pools. That was slightly inconvenient and because of that we only used the pool once. We were given a $25 voucher for the cafe downstairs, free trolley access a few other deals and discounts as part of the amenity fee. As it was our anniversary the staff left a lovely box of chocolates in our room with a nice note. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.
We booked a one night stay before flying back home after having been in Maui for 1 week. Imagine our surprise when we arrived and there was construction going on and the pool was out of order. Given we had planned to spend our last day in Hawaii by the pool relaxing this was extremely disappointing. The hotel did give us the option to go to the Outrigger pool but we had seen the pool the week prior and not only was it busy the picket line for the strike was in the alley way right next to the pool. Not to mention the inconvenience having to carry all our gear with two kids and a stroller in tow. Not ideal so we didn't do this. It would have been great if the hotel had given us an option to keep our booking or not. In saying that they did upgrade us to a room with a partial ocean view so that is a credit to them. The room itself was beautifully decorated but it is small, particularly if you are a family - though we have two small children. The beds are small as well only doubles not queens. It was ok for one night but not somewhere I would stay for a week unless I booked an interconnecting room. The hotel was close to everything! We did enjoy the convenience to the shops and the marketplace right in the next alley way. The only other downside we had was that because we had a stroller we couldn't use the escalators. We used the lifts which was ok except it opened out into the rubbish areas so there was always a smell and on the morning we were leaving we had the pleasure of walking down to find a sewage truck pumping waste. I'm hoping the renovations will mean guests won't have to use this entrance/exit anymore. Now to the best part of our stay. It wasn't all negative! Though technically this came after our stay. We checked out very early in the morning and my husband accidentally left his wallet in our room. We realised this as we were about to go through TSA at the airport. We called the lost property department and they were excellent in locating the wallet and arranging to send it in a taxi to us at the airport which saved us a lot of stress as we were about to fly back to New Zealand. So thank you very much!
Its a great location considering everything is at stone's throw. I loved how the Cheesecake factory was located just opposite this place. Although you seldom get a sea-view from the rooms, still the location compensates for it. There was this gentle lady at the reception, who helped us with planning and booking various activities at the island (Atlantis submarines, Helicopter rides etc.) The staff is so so so amazing and soft-spoken!!!! Big thumbs-up!
I get to travel for work and stay at some really nice hotels. It is very inconvenient at times and can be discouraging when dealing with hotel staff and the long process of getting checked in and get up to the room to get settled in... This hotel however has some of the best service I have ever seen in hospitality, from the valet to room service when I asked for a wine glass. It was fast and convenient even with the construction. I felt the warmth of old Hawaii when everyone greeted you and served you with a smile. The room has a classy modern look and feel that makes this a gem. I can't wait to be back when they are done renovating! Oh and I can't forget the bar, that was fun and great food! Looking forward to staying here again!! Big mahalo to Natalie Caceres and her staff for taking care of me. I will be reaching out next time I need a stay in Waikiki!!
This hotel has it all and once the renovations are complete it will be perfect. Currently they are renovating the entrance, lobby and pool area so it does look a bit of a mess and contruction workers are everywhere (Mon to Friday) however, if you have a new renovated room you will not be disappointed. They have friendly staff and i would like to mention Jenny on reception who was really welcoming and helpful. Aroma cafe and the Maui Brewery Co are also great to have in the complex. I look forward in staying again on my next trip to Waikiki.
Lauren Yamamoto made everything great for our group! easy hotel to work with! will be happy to bring groups here next season. ps they loved breakfast at maui brewing company what a treat compared to other places!
Upon arriving at the Waikiki Beachcomber we found the lower front of the hotel and reception foyer was undergoing refurbishment. The reception staff member was excellent and was able to give us early access to our room. The spacious room on the 19th floor appeared to have been recently refurbished was excellent with great views. The hotel whilst not being affected by the hotel strike at nearby hotels, little noise could be heard from the striking groups 19 floors below, except for the drummer/s banging from 7am until 10pm. Having commented on the problems, it did not detract from our stay as the room was perfect for us and would happily return to stay.
