Front Desk staff is rude and when paying with USD (cash) they tried to bumb the price up to pocket some money...He didnt think I would notice... I saw and heard how much he charged the person infront of me for the same room type and just one night ($63) and told me ($109). Be careful when paying...they might try to steal your money. Maintenance guy was very helpful on the other hand. Gave me directions and even brought some ice when i asked him where i can get ice from.
We drove from Austin, TX to a tiny village called Colotlan (state of Jalisco) for a family fiesta. We played it smart by leaving around noon and crossing the border before dark, getting all of our travel & auto permits, and then relaxing for a night before heading to Colotlan (a 10-hour drive). We are Choice Hotel members, and all pf their properties are neat and clean. Sometimes the cheaper accommodations need remodeling, but most of the time, they have just been remodeled. This Quality Inn was super clean and well-appointed. The bathroom looked a bit old, but was clean. They gave you a complimentary liter of bottled water ( you do not want to drink from the tap!). The continental breakfast was really a FEAST, unlike any of the "complete/hot" breakfasts you'll get in the USA. Two kinds of scrambled eggs, beans, and tortillas, juice, coffee (I got hot water for my herbal tea), etc. etc. All for $46/night (free with points)!
I had attempted to book a room on the Texas side of the border. The Quality Inn website redirected me (without saying so) to this hotel on the Mexico side. 15 minutes later I realized this and tried to cancel the reservation. They said too late.
The room was ok. Older bathroom, but large shower. The breakfast was great! Included with the room. Fresh fruit, yogurts, cereal, eggs, breads, chilaquiles, beans, juice, great coffee, etc. Great service at the restaurant.
We arrived at 11:30pm after travelling for 20 hours by bus. The desk clerk could see my parents both need help walking...my dad with a walker and my mom with a cane. Our room was one of the farthest from the main entrance. Even the porter mentioned it to the clerk and he didn't move us. my dad unexpectedly came with us and I didn't have a chance to change our reservation...total extra for one senior...754 pesos (about $54 cdn)..whereas it would have been half that if I'd have changed our reservation to 3 people. I asked for 3 more towels as there were two...they brought me 1 and the next day only left 2 again...for 3 people. Breakfast was mediocre and the second morning the waiter tried charging us 90 pesos for 2 pieces of bacon (that's not included in the breakfast) whereas the prior morning it was 45 pesos for 3 pieces. We had put the do not disturb sign out and they kept banging in the door and calling to clean the room. The daytime desk staff were great...called taxis and let me print some documents I needed as well as let us leave our bags there for a couple hours after check out.
if you like space, go for this one. both in the room and outside. nice pool. clean. breakfast nothing special... Internet so so. better in the lower floors are think. first i was in the upper floor and it very bad. room are dark unless you open the windows but inmost rooms it takes away all your privacy... so if you want privacy you have to stay in the darkness of not so strong artificial light.
Would never consider staying here and would surely not recommend it to anyone. Everything is dirty, rugs stink, rooms stink, place looks totally run down. Paid almost $75 per room...not worth it. Do not believe the good reviews that are posted. Supposed to have free breakfast but they still wanted to charge us.
We Loved it! Quiet, clean, beautiful, pleasant environment and plenty of security! Nice pool, scenery just incredible. We decided to stay a extra night! Located near walmart, oxxo, Pizza etc... Oh yeah, did I mention room service?? Oh yeah!
As someone who travels through Mexico frequently, I know that finding a good hotel can be hit or miss, but this one was a very welcome surprise. From the private, secure parking to the beautiful pool to the large room, this was a great stay. The Mexican military seems to use some of the rooms for their soldiers, which means that the parking lot has a sentry at all times of night, which is nice. And the front desk help was wonderful. The only complaints I could make is that the hot water never got really hot, and the internet can be pretty slow depending which part of the hotel you're in. But the price is excellent, and the room is very comfortable. I'll be staying here again.
I am not sure what it was that I was expecting but I am 100% sure this exceeds it to the fullest. This property is extremely well kept. Huge and roomy with well manicured lawns, a beautifully blue and chic pool. The restaurant is not world class but the food is tasty, well prepared and representive of Mexican home style cooking. The location is centrally located along a major thoroughfare next to a variety store, supermarket bar. My room was LARGE with plenty of open space.two more beds would have fit easily. Room amenities are basic, telephone , AC and coffee maker with chain toiletries in a very spacious bathroom. The roll in shower was impressive because International hotels don't generally have fully accessible bathrooms. The down side of the room was the placement of things. There is a big roomy executive desk but the phone is on the other side of the room on the nit stand. There are no extra outlets for charging phones and the like. The free wifi worked well but took a minute to set up. The gym was large, spacious and well equipped. This property is huge so there is plenty of space to walk, sit and enjoy the sun or catch up on a good book by the pool where room service is also available. The room service was great, I had one of,the house specials that was very well prepared, classy and contemporary in presentation. It was not world class but the clean simple favors and presentation made it seem so. Very well priced for a complete hot meal served in my room at 9 I'm the evening. All the channels on the cable stations on the flat screen tv are in Spanish. A slight surprise that an International Chain hotel does not have at least an English speaking news station in its selection. The staff was absolutely exceptional, mother went out of their way to make me feel I was welcome and they were glad I was staying at the property. While none actually spoke fluent English they all made every attempt to understand and meet my needs, mother seemed as ifntheynrefusedntomspeakmSpanish to me....lol! Overall this was a smart and exceptional selection for my needs and expectations! I would recommend this property for everyone, singles and families who are in the area.
