I found the room facing away from the train station that I requested and paid 10€ extra for to be quiet and well equipped with everything I needed for a one-night-one day stay. The big BUT being the difficulty I had trying to get into the free wifi. In fact, I never was able to get in and used my own mobile connection. For a business hotel a no go! Otherwise everything from cleanliness to breakfast to a safe large enough for my laptop was fine.
Two nights here. Neat hotel right at the central train and bus station. Considering the location, the noise was not as much as I had expected. I enjoyed good quiet comfortable nights in a good room. The staff was great, attending to requests immediately. For a 3-star hotel, excellent conditions. Breakfast was richly varied too. I would make this my stop-over hotel in Kassel.
The hotel is very near the main railway station, and this, of course, attract many travellers. But the square in front of the hotel is very busy even in the night. Tram, bus and car passing trough even at high speed....the windows do not have sufficient insulation.. the noise was really to much. Considering the rate was about 110 + 17 euro for breakfast, well I was very disappointed. I asked to change my room, but the availbale room in the back was only smoking room. The receptionist was not very kind and the restaurant charged me more than 15 euro for an horful salad and a small beer.
Conveniently located right next to the train station, this hotel has the unfortunate characteristic to also face the surface transit rail system. Unlike well-oiled German machines, the trains are squeaking, grinding and creaking. Combined with the lack of air-conditionning and unbearable indoor temperature, the urge to open the window gives you little choice to sleep well. Internet access was as good as nothing, the "free" one is so slow that you can barely do email and no VPN, and the paid one (8 EUR / day) disconnects every few minutes. A really disappointing experience for business travelers alike. If you're there by car there is no parking provided so you'll have to suffer Kassel's complicated parking system "on the street". My car was dented while it stayed out during the night. There is a breakfast but at 14 EUR I'd rather get some croissant at the train station next by. Service at the reception was nice, however we all experienced some weird things in our checks (like breakfast we never had, or internet access charge while the hotel staffs know it is not working and cancel it on request - yet you have to ask).
Stayed a couple of nights as a stopover before travelling on to Austria. The hotel is next to the main station, ideal for connections to most of Germany or if travelling by train. No on site parking, however the receptionist guided us to local safe on-street parking. Our family room was nice and big (much bigger than most UK chain hotels), very clean and comfortable and situated in a quiet part of the hotel. Restaurant menu was rather limited, but with so many choices locally not an issue. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Would certainly return if in Kassel.
Good location in terms of public transport and amenities. Nice and quiet room. On a minus side - no hot drink making facility in the room for tea/coffee which I found to be strange. Had to request housekeeping cleaning/replenishment in the 5 nights as no one bothered to come in and clean.
The Intercity Hotel is directly near the Wilhemshöhe ICE station, so 15 minutes after arrival one can go to sleep :-) The hotel is very clean. I had a single room, which was not (as in some hotels) a large closet. The bathroom, of which the shower is very comfortable) seems newer and more modern than the room itself, in which the furniture looks a bit outdated. The free WiFi is not very fast, but one can choose to buy a high speed upgrade. The pillow was, as in most of the German hotels, too soft for me. Although I had a room at the side of the railway, bus and tram station, it was still very quiet. I highly recommend this hotel to travellers who are for business in Kassel. Although it is not in the city centre (which is not very attractive), the InterCity Hotel is by far the most efficient option due to the vincinity of long-distance railway services (that do not call at Kassel central station) and many tram and bus connections
stayed for 1 night for a business trip, the room was very clean, but rather small. It`s directly next to the station (train+bus), so ideal if You are travelling by public transport. The breakfast was rich, seemed to me like good quality (standard in may opinion in this price range in Germany). The only downside was the parking, there wasn`t an online option for parking reservation (as i travelled by car) and there were only 8 boxes for the hotel. It`s OK, if i knew in advance, but i just found out at the reception at 1 am, and hat to do the parking research nearby. Our travel manager requested parking, they could at least send a mail, that there is a parking problem...i guess not a big issue mostly for non business travelers..superslow, but free wifi. The staff was rather friendly, all in all would recommend.
This hotel is next to the Wilhelmshohe Railways Station in Kassel. Kassel is an intercity station and in the heart of Germany. The hotel is soundproofed. You don't hear any noise from the railways or the road nearby. The next advantage of the hotel is the free dayticket for public transport in Kassel. This is a real incentive.
This Hotel is right next to the train station so if you are traveling it is a great place to stay to catch the train in the morning or if you get off the train late. The also have smoking rooms if you like that. The Breakfast was good and the staff helpful
