We stayed in a double room on 3rd floor. Room was fairly compact - extremely clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a very large shower cubicle with 2 powerful showers on each side wall. Separate toilet room. Small rail for clothes but perfectly adequate for a weekend stay. Good range of tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits. Very powerful normal hairdryer - a real bonus compared to the usual weak ones that you have to hold onto a button the whole time. All the food (dinner and breakfast) was fabulous. Good quality, tasty and cooked well. The waiting staff were all local and very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again.
There are two aspects to this review, the hotel and the dance.(Holiday Dance were the organizers) Starting with the hotel we got off to a very poor start. We arrived about 2.30 and tried to check in. We were presented with the evening dinner menu and "told" to choose what we wanted. When I protested that we had not even checked in I was informed that this was the way they did it ! When I refused to choose, requesting time to think, the male receptionist reluctantly allowed us to take the menu to our room. He gave us the room passes and then ignored us, no friendly welcome and no directions to the room. After ten minutes we found the room, signage was very poor. The room was adequate, but in need of some care. The settee was badly worn and the blinds only just worked. Food was reasonable, but there was no choice at breakfast, cereal and/or fry up. The dance part of the break was also disappointing. The instruction part was overcrowded, which made following directions very difficult, and the standard was pitched far too high. The social dances were badly organized and the music uninspiring. A very disappointing , and sometimes annoying, weekend. Will not use this hotel or HolidayDance again.
This is our fourth visit to the Rendezvous. We love it here. Friendly and courteous staff, some of which have been with the hotel some time. Always a good sign. We had a very spacious top floor room with everything we could wish for. Excellent food and service. Always a pleasure.
I recently stayed at the Rendevous Hotel in Skipton after having booked about a year in advance and was really looking forward to our stay. Unfortunately, I wasn't overly pleased with the facilities or the service. On arrival, when I asked if they did bar snacks, I was told yes, but that it best to avoid 7-7.30pm as there was a drinks reception prior to a function. However, what they failed to mention was that the room we had been given was very close to the function room and that our room was right next door to that of the performers. Therefore, through to the early hours of the morning, all we could hear was doors slamming, shouting and people warming up their voices. Quite frankly, I do not think we should have been put where we were, but by the time this happened we were settled in our room and we thought it was only for one night. But we were wrong! The following evening, there was a wedding reception and some of the guests were staying next door to us and our evening was punctuated with doors slamming, screaming and shouting. Further to all of this, there were dead insects in the room and after having spent a day out in the lovely Yorkshire countryside, we returned to find that our room had not been cleaned. As the sign in the room suggested, I left towels in the shower that we wanted changing, which had not be changed. So I went and found one of the cleaners and was informed that the room was only cleaned after you left! I have to say the cleaner was very helpful though and allowed me to get fresh towels and other items for the room. One of the evenings, we decided to go down to the bar for a few drinks, only to find they had run out of a lot of the drinks, the tables were sticky and there were empty glasses everywhere. I appreciate that they had been busy with their functions, but they did have other guests to consider. The only positive? The waiting staff in the breakfast room. They were polite, efficient and willing to help when it came to my allergies. Overall, our experience at this hotel was not a good one. They are obviously more interested in the functions they are holding rather than the potential repeat custom - they did not even ask if we had had a good stay on departure! If they had of done, I would have shared this with them at the time.
We were greeted very well at the reception desk but being a little bit early our rooms weren't ready, so we had a drink and lunch in the bar which was very good. We had booked superior rooms so we were expecting something a little better than standard rooms. The room was very large and clean but a little disappointing was the finish. The room could do with some TLC. Having said that the view of the canal and surrounding hills was beautiful. We had dinner in the hotel and we were seated in the conservatory which was stunning and the food was very good too. All in all a good place to stay for a short break.
We have just had 4 nights here this was our 2nd visit and we were not disappointed it still had the high standers that we experienced on the 1st visit, great food friendly ,staff who were very helpful our bedroom was very big a double bed a single bed a sofa, plenty of draws and hanging space, will definately go again
Stayed here for 1 night for an anniversary treat, using the 'Best room in the house'. The hotel is easy to find, the location is OK (road and industrial park at the front, but canal and rolling hills at the rear) and is about 1.5 miles south of Skipton. Communal area round the bar interesting and with a relaxed vibe. The room was nice with a large walk-in shower and 2 person jacuzzi bath. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel good as a base for walking/cycling; the adjunct gym was OK too, though all the toilets were out of order during our visit (can't be helped). We decided to eat in for our evening meal as there were tables in a conservatory at the rear. The meal was OK, but the setting very nice. We had breakfast in the same room and that was good. Given the good value of the hotel we were very happy with our choice.
From the moment that we got out of the lift on the 4th Floor we were met with piles of used bedding on the floor outside many of the rooms. There were also several trays of left over food lying about. The trays and the piles of bedding were still there several hours after.
Stayed Friday night in this busy hotel. Foyer and bar area pleasant to relax in. We booked directly rather than through a bookings website and they gave us an upgrade as a thank you. Large room overlooking canal but was a bit basic. Lovely breakfast in restaurant with nice views. Balti King next door does a mean curry, really worth a visit.
Stayed at the Hotel with a coach party service was brilliant cases were in the room before we were . Food was first class and there was a varied choice. breakfast was a buffet but still very good. Staff were very friendly and extremely efficient particularly as there were two coach parties staying in the hotel.
