I have been staying at Surya Sangolda with my wife and 8 year old for the last month and we will continue for another couple of months. It has been a lovely experience. Thanks Rhys for delivering all that you have promised for our long term stay and a million thanks to Lucien, Sada, Sudarshan and Atul for making our stay as comfortable as possible. These guys are the housekeeping and maintenance team and are absolutely on the ball. Like most places in Goa, you need transport to get around. Having said that there are a host of restaurants and cafes and supermarkets and food trucks just down the road so everything you need is just around the corner. This is our halfway house between our lives in another country and our final home in Goa and it has been wonderful in all aspects. It also helps that it is a walking distance from our daughters school. Thanks Surya Sangolda. All good things.
With a vast number of options online its difficult to identify the right one. Pics can be deceiving considering the marketing involved. After narrowing down on a couple we shortlisted Surya Sangolda. Was a little skeptical with the number of apartments available, the location, the property owner etc but were taken by surprise. Owner - Turned out to be friendly and responsive. Straightforward and relaxed, not pushy at all. Had no hesitation in reducing a day of our stay with no additional cost. Place - It was truly a luxury apartment. Neat, clean, spacious and well planned. It was so cool that we hardly needed the AC inspite of the heat outside. Staff - Amazing. Super quick and prompt to queries and issues. Very humble and warm. Food - Not provided but why would you need it considering the number of restaurants around. Copperleaf was kickass. Negatives that ended into positives - The sofa was not to our liking but the staff were courteous enough to let us know that the sofa in all apartments were the same and didn't mind us checking at vacant apartments. The spin function in d washing machine wasn't functioning as per expectation but the staff were so proactive that they didn't mind washing the clothes in some other machine. It ended up being that the machine else where too had the same problem. Recommendation - Definitely yes, I would henceforth stay at only this place if I'm vacationing in Goa.
We loved the folk and food in at Surya. The accommodation is comfortable and truly unique. It was an easy place to get to by public transport. Good beaches close by by tucktuck or bus. We hope to return there one day
Apartment was spacious and the kitchen was fully equipped. It is located in an area with no shops or local attractions closeby. You would need to rent a vehicle if you are staying here. It is a bit noisy at at times.
I went to surya sangolda over new year. The apartment I was staying in was amazing, furnished to a really high standard and was really clean. The staff go above and beyond what is expected to make your stay really comfortable. They knocked on my door after I arrived with breakfast, whenever I needed to go somewhere they offered to call a taxi or take me there on their scooters. On the day I was leaving I asked for a late checkout as my flight wasn't until the evening, as they needed my room for another guest they let me stay in the penthouse until It was time to check out for free. I would definitely come back to surya sangolda the only downfall is the location is a little far from the main areas as in calangute and baga. But it's a nice quiet area and a taxi is only 4/5 pound for a taxi. Overall amazing stay, with great service and staff!
We booked on the net, and were led to a nice apartment 2 room flat on the 2nd floor, however with the bedroom facing the main highway. The highway literally runs through the rooms on this side, and it is busy, busy busy - all day and all night! We could not sleep a wink with motorcycles and trucks screaming in our dreams (nightmares?). The morning found us running around up and down in our pyjamas, looking for someone to serve us breakfast. There is no phone in the room and no one to call! After an hour, we saw a staff person and some sort of breakfast was brought to our room. The swimming pool was not clean, and obviously the 'hotel' is a residential block of some permanent residents with a few apartments vacant (which probably no one else wants since they are so noisy) are let out as hotel rooms to unsuspecting guest like us. On speaking to the staff, we found out that this place was mostly occupied by owners, and the staff basically services their needs - hence no one at the reception, or anywhere else for clients like us. On our protest, we were given a 20% discount, which was a nice gesture, however, with 2 sleepless nights, and the price which these rooms are offered at, we would never have stayed there, even with the lowered price. Don't mistake us, the property itself is very nicely built and located in a green forest. Only probably this is fine for those who live there, but for those of us who pay per day and check in, it is not worth it. If these guys want to the serious about attracting guests, they have to at least put in basic services like a decent breakfast, a phone, some staff, and of course sound proof the rooms facing the highway!
I reached Goa in the night around 9:00 PM and when I called the number provided by cleartrip, I didn't get any response. Somehow managed to get to the apartment but came to shock that they weren't aware of my booking after 15 minutes dilly dollying finally I got the room. When we entered the apartment, it was stinking as if it's locked for quite long time. Other than that the apartment was quite good and spacious with kitchen and living room. The balconies were so dirty and not cleaned. The cable TV was having issues. Only solace was that the bathrooms and the bed were so neat. Breakfast was just a namesake instead they could've not served that breakfast. I don't see it as a 4 star rated apartment as they've displayed in the board over there. Overall I just had an average satisfaction level over there.
we stayed there in mid Feb 2013 and this place is as good as home.i will highly recommend to anybody going to GOA. the location of place is very good and all major beach are near to hotel. furniture is of top class and of best wooden quality . bathroom are top clean and kitchen is perfect to cook Indian and western foods. only thing issue was washing machine was not working.
Stayed with my Family. Agree with the earlier reviewer, you would require your own transport, rented car. Not on the beach or any of the happening party places. But, again, not far also. Couple of kilometers drive to great beaches as well as Panjim. Great rooms and an amazing penthouse. Stayed in both. Large rooms which are well furnished with all amenities - washing machine, kitchenette, refrigerator etc. A clean swimming pool. There are restaurants and super markets near by. Since I was travelling with Kids, it was a perfect stay. One could cook up a meal or just warm milk at all odd hours. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall excellent value for money.
I haven't stayed in a better appointed or more giant room than at Surya Sangolda. Two bathrooms, a couch (!) The pool was great too - cold and clean, perfect for the Goa heat. On the other hand, travelers should know that this place is ideal for people who know Goa a little and have their own transportation (a car or a motorbike) to get to beaches, restaurants, etc. It's not walking distance from anything, really, and it is like living in a (luxury) apartment building. There isn't a cafe or restaurant at the hotel; room service means ordering delivery from a range of (admittedly excellent) nearby restaurants. Service staff leave in the evening. Wifi isn't free, though you can buy cards. And it is pricey - you are paying for the giant, beautiful room above all - basically it's a five-star hotel room, though much more affordable because the service level is basic.
