Needed a place to stay nearby between house closing shift. Reserved a Non smoking room. It had burn holes all over carpret & linens. Room & hallway reaped of cigarette odor. Waited 15 minutes on staff to come to desk @ check-in along with other guests while she was outside smoking. When she came in took 2 calls & booked rooms before acknowledging us. Only bread & stale Danish for breakfast. No coffee milk or juice. Would you want to stay in a place like this? I needed a room for 6 more nights to finish my business. I drove 30 min out of my way 2 x's a day for better accommodations.
The Econolodge was easy to find and good for our purposes. We just needed a place to sleep for the night and it worked fine. It got a little loud around 11 pm but it is primarily a "contractors hotel." so it made sense. If I'm back in the area and need a cheap place just to sleep and shower I'd do it again.
We found raise hotel luckily. Everything near the location we needed to be in was very expensive or booked. We ended up with a jacuzzi room. I loved resting in the jacuzzi after a couple of weeks on the road. The bed was comfortable. The room had a fridge and microwave. I would stay here again.
The location of the hotel was perfect for our trip-within a few miles of the relatives we were visiting. The prices fit well with our budget. Our room/bed was quite comfortable. They need to continue working on getting rid of the smell of smoke that permeates the hallway.
We had a lacrosse tournament in VA Beach over July 2/3 weekend, with all the close hotels either booked or $200+ a night, I expanded my search and found this Econolodge for $72/night. If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke, this is not a good hotel to stay at. As soon as you open the door to the hallway, you are hit with the strong odor of smoke. We had a non-smoking room but still, the bed linens had a slight smoky smell to them. I would imagine everything gets washed together, and linens from smoking rooms wind up in non-smoking rooms... The TV was on when we first arrived, which seemed odd. 2 hours later when I went to turn it off, discovered the remote wasn't working right. It controlled the channels but not the volume nor power, so had to turn it off with the button on the actual TV. Overall the room was good, it was roomy and the beds were comfortable. The water pressure seemed way too low for a hotel, but since it's out in the middle of nowhere, maybe it runs on a well? Not sure. The breakfast was very limited but everything was fresh and neither of us eat a huge breakfast anyway, so it was fine for us. The staff was very friendly and helpful overall. I'm not sure if I'll ever need to stay in this area again, but if I do, I'd probably stay again since the price was great.
On the plus side: The price is right, quiet and clean. Negatives-the continental breakfast consisted of toast, orange juice and coffee. Nothing else. Attention to detail: the clock radio was nonfunctional and the door knob stuck.
We spent 6 nights there while visiting relatives and friends scattered from Hampton to Suffolk. The location was perfect for us because we prefer places with less congestion. We had a king suite ground floor. Took a chance on this 'economy' lodge (usually high end places for us). We were pleasantly surprised at the courtesy of the staff and the cleanliness of the room. The bed was very comfortable on this old worn out back of mine. I'll stay there again when in old Tidewater Virginia.
Worst Place Ever!!!!! Dirty, Noise all night long. The carpet in our room was disgusting. The owner came in to the room with the do not disturb sign on the door. Said he came in to service the room. But did not even put fresh towels in the room. I would never recommend this place to anyone....
Hotel show well online, but the actual hotel is horrible. It was so dirty, it smelled mildew and urine. The carpet was filthy. I had reserved 4 rooms, when i got there they only had three of the rooms and they were not rooms that i had reserved. The lady did find me another filthy room, I don't know whether to thank her or hate her, however we will never stay in this hotel again.
The room was dirty, stank and at least the first floor appeared to be where a number of long-term residents had set up home. It was a non-smoking room where clearly a number of people had smoked. The door to the room was off-kilter and didn't lock properly. The outside door said that it required a key to enter, but that was obviously broken. Only stayed here because the a/c at our vacation house was out and it was 95F outside. Seriously thought about just walking out and sweating out the night.
