Holiday Inn Norwich

I stayed at this hotel on recommendation of friends while visiting Norwich. The hotel and room were fine but what made it such an amazing stay was the staff. A young lady in paticular called Chelsea really made our stay a great one. She worked as barmaid and while we relaxed for our evening after a day out at Norwich Chelseas care and service was exceptional. A witty, clever, fun and bubbly young lady made the time fly by. Other guests also were sayibg how great she was when we mentioned it at breakfast the next day. Surely a promotion is necessary for the work she does here! Yhsnkyiu for a great stay, myself and my family will definitely come again.

I have to say, I don’t think I’ve ever had a good experience at a Holiday Inn. They’re always falling apart, inside & out, and have an unusual smell to them, this one unfortunately didn’t disappoint. The rooms are fairly modern & have taken inspiration from Premier Inn, but despite allegedly being given one of the best rooms in the hotel, the Ensuite bathroom was quite frankly barely usable & disgustingly dirty. Chipped enamel, botched & hurried silicone, unable to easily close the door without rubbing up against the toilet. The towels stank, I mean they really stank! So much that I wouldn’t use them. The bedroom itself had the usual desk but the doors were hanging off their hinges. The bed was ridiculously soft, so much so it gave me a back ache. Despite advertising the option of more firm pillows being available upon request from reception, I was told upon requesting that they didn’t have any. Breakfast had limited options & of what was cooked, only the specially requested poached eggs were of any merit. The sausages were burnt, the black pudding was as dry as a crisp & the limited micro croissants were also dry. The staff were friendly & helpful, but are unfortunately suffering by having to work in this tired embarrassment.

Holiday Inn Norwich For my review bias, for the last 15 years I have stayed approximately 50-100 nights a year in the Intercontinental / Holiday Inn Group chain. Date of stay 23rd January 2018 My ongoing experience of the hotel is as follows: 1) The hotel was exactly where the Sat Nav (TOM TOM) instructions said it was. 2) There is a large free onsite carpark that surrounds the hotel. 3) On arrival at the hotel, the check in clerk was pleasant and friendly. As a SPIRE rewards club member, I received access to the free WIFI and choice of a rewards points voucher (or alternatively if you wish you may choose the option of a free drink at the bar instead) 4) As a Spire member, I was automatically upgraded. I was given room 325 to check into. 5) All areas including the bedrooms were always well kept, tidy and clean. My praise goes to housekeeping team for the cleanliness of the rooms and in general in the hotel 6) My room 325 was clean and well maintained, and in keeping with the IHG brand standards. (see the photos) 7) Breakfast is an additional cost (cheaper if booked in advance or breakfast voucher purchased at check in). The quality of the breakfast on par with other Holiday Inn's; catering from the full English option to fresh fruit salad and yoghurts, sliced cold cuts and cheese & pastries, 8) Check out, was straight forward and hassle free In summary, the hotel scores 7.5/10 for a good Holiday Inn perhaps looking slightly dated compared to others in the chain.

Stayed here for 5 nights, I would like to say that the Restaurant food was excellent ( although it was a repetitive menu) having said that, food was beautifully presented. piping hot and very tasty. All staff were great

Booked into this hotel as it was near family in Norwich. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean but bathroom was very tight. Chairs in Bar with long seat and low back which were not the most comfortable. Hotel has a busy Health Centre and Leisure area that we had no time to use. Breakfast was up to 9-30 on Friday and we were on Leisure time and needed rest after travelling, we skipped breakfast but had brunch at the bar. Overall Hotel was very pleasing and relaxed.

Had a lovely stay here. Staff really friendly. Room really comfortable and spacious. We had a problem with the bath and within minutes of reporting it they had found us another room. Breakfast was lovely. Nice choice of food and clean dining area. Would stay again

Good location and plenty of free parking. Staff all friendly and helpful. Hotel a little dated compared to other Holiday Inns but evening menu, drinks and breakfast good. Room clean and comfortable but again in need of some TLC, and a strange fusty smell??? Had to report radiator leaking but this was sorted quickly.

Very clean, conveniently located, and offering a more-than-adequate breakfast. The service was exceptional! I sent emails making specific requests, and all were honoured efficiently and pleasantly. A Starbucks in the lobby.

I sincerely wish that I had read previous reviews summarising the party events before committing. It is clear no changes have been made from last years negative comments. Having arranged previous years Christmas nights out at various venues, this by far was our worst experience. Our main feedback is that the room used to hold this event was very small, cramped and lacked any atmosphere. The room plan created long tables, similar to that of a conference. The lights were on full brightness, and it was very evident other guests where equally surprised with the lack lustre. The bar was in a separate area, (you had to leave the room to get a drink, and there was no table service). Although the evening was supposed to end at 1am, we were practically the only ones left at 11.30. Most guests had decided to leave, possibly due to the very unhappy dj. The food itself was lukewarm, as were the skeleton staff. It was obvious that the meal was on an increadibly low budget. I fail to see how the evening warranted a £30pp charge. If you are hoping for a fantastic night visit the Holiday Inn north, who boast real event facilities for the same price. A real shame for 15 people hoping to get in the Christmas spirit.

I have to stay in hotels for my job at least one night a week, sometimes a lot more so hotels can blend into one. but Holiday Inn Ipswich Road in Norwich is certainly one that sticks in the memory for the right reasons. My room is great, room 332 which I think is an executive room, but everything I want in a home away from home. The reception staff walk the fine line between efficiency and friendliness v over-familiarity perfectly. The bar staff and restaurant staff again are perfect. The food, I ate off the specials menu for two nights, was a factor of 10 better than standard meals I have off a HI menu anywhere else in UK. I really must say, staying here is an absolute pleasure. By nature I am not perhaps a complainer but I am very fusy, but this place is friendly, welcoming, warm and opening where some HIs can seem sterile. Well done, an absolute pleasure to stay at HI Ipswich Road, Norwich. Well done guy's.
