I stayed here last week for 4 nights with a couple of work colleagues as we were working in Norwich all week. The hotel was easy to reach off the motorway and offered a nice comfortable place to stay. Facilities were good for me as there was an on-site gym to make use of each morning. The restaurant served a decent breakfast and found the evening meals very tasty particularly the Salmon Pate which I had each night for starter. The service was always quick and the staff were always pleasant and welcoming. The only comment I would make is there could be more of a choice on the menu. Rooms were clean and were just what we needed. Overall a very good place to stay
Good service , close to the station and a brilliant place to stay if u are a football fan! Is a bit on the highway so gets a bit tricky to walk! Quite far away from the city center ! The rooms are really good and cosy !
Mixed stay, one day leisure and two days work. Stayed in an executive room that was clean and comfortable. Had dinner on two evenings and breakfast each morning. Food was good quality and service was friendly and welcoming. On the two days I was working my wife felt comfortable being alone at the hotel and took advantage of treatments at the spa. Certainly good value and professional.
Our room was spacious, bright and clean. The bed comfortable. The bathroom was nice but the writing on the shower had rubbed off so it was difficult to control the temperature. We were on the ground floor near the facilities but still heard no noise which was suprising. Breakfast was great- attentive staff, perfect eggs made to order, just a shame there was no vegetarian sausages in stock (I don't know how you can run out of a food which is kept in a freezer, but there you go). The staff we met (17th Feb reception desk approx 11, 18th Feb breakfast staff) were really friendly and made the place so welcoming. I was very impressed.
Stayed here on business and had an ok nights sleep. The rooms are small but clean, the corridors are long and soulless whilst the bar and restaurant serve the usual Holiday Inn menu. This hotel does the job but don’t expect quaint and cosy.
Firstly I didn’t stay here, but I attended a business meeting in the bar on a Sunday afternoon. On a Sunday afternoon you’d expect to see guests in and out of the restaurant enjoying Sunday Lunches. Nope!!!! I didn’t see one guest venture into their restaurant. I was in the bar area for almost four hours and there was only one other customer apart from our table. Also there was never anyone manning the bar. When we wanted a drink we had to wait for someone to eventually come and serve us. This seems crazy to me..... Is the place that bad that no one comes in for Sunday Lunch, or do they just not have enough staff on to cater for it so they don’t serve it. Even quiet small hotels always have guests in and out of their bars and restaurants. So it’s hard to see what is actually going on here. We just had to keep asking ourselves where is everybody.
I have been using the Holiday inn Ipswich Road Norwich for business for some time but every now and again something happens to make a difference. During a UK business trip I turned up at the Holiday Inn to find N issue such a booking caused by a third party. After 7 hours driving I found I had no room, a reception team member went way beyond the call of duty and her actions made a huge difference to my trip. I followed that stay with another personal stay and found the same team helpful approach to guests.
I stayed at this hotel on recommendation of friends while visiting Norwich. The hotel and room were fine but what made it such an amazing stay was the staff. A young lady in paticular called Chelsea really made our stay a great one. She worked as barmaid and while we relaxed for our evening after a day out at Norwich Chelseas care and service was exceptional. A witty, clever, fun and bubbly young lady made the time fly by. Other guests also were sayibg how great she was when we mentioned it at breakfast the next day. Surely a promotion is necessary for the work she does here! Yhsnkyiu for a great stay, myself and my family will definitely come again.
I have to say, I don’t think I’ve ever had a good experience at a Holiday Inn. They’re always falling apart, inside & out, and have an unusual smell to them, this one unfortunately didn’t disappoint. The rooms are fairly modern & have taken inspiration from Premier Inn, but despite allegedly being given one of the best rooms in the hotel, the Ensuite bathroom was quite frankly barely usable & disgustingly dirty. Chipped enamel, botched & hurried silicone, unable to easily close the door without rubbing up against the toilet. The towels stank, I mean they really stank! So much that I wouldn’t use them. The bedroom itself had the usual desk but the doors were hanging off their hinges. The bed was ridiculously soft, so much so it gave me a back ache. Despite advertising the option of more firm pillows being available upon request from reception, I was told upon requesting that they didn’t have any. Breakfast had limited options & of what was cooked, only the specially requested poached eggs were of any merit. The sausages were burnt, the black pudding was as dry as a crisp & the limited micro croissants were also dry. The staff were friendly & helpful, but are unfortunately suffering by having to work in this tired embarrassment.
Holiday Inn Norwich For my review bias, for the last 15 years I have stayed approximately 50-100 nights a year in the Intercontinental / Holiday Inn Group chain. Date of stay 23rd January 2018 My ongoing experience of the hotel is as follows: 1) The hotel was exactly where the Sat Nav (TOM TOM) instructions said it was. 2) There is a large free onsite carpark that surrounds the hotel. 3) On arrival at the hotel, the check in clerk was pleasant and friendly. As a SPIRE rewards club member, I received access to the free WIFI and choice of a rewards points voucher (or alternatively if you wish you may choose the option of a free drink at the bar instead) 4) As a Spire member, I was automatically upgraded. I was given room 325 to check into. 5) All areas including the bedrooms were always well kept, tidy and clean. My praise goes to housekeeping team for the cleanliness of the rooms and in general in the hotel 6) My room 325 was clean and well maintained, and in keeping with the IHG brand standards. (see the photos) 7) Breakfast is an additional cost (cheaper if booked in advance or breakfast voucher purchased at check in). The quality of the breakfast on par with other Holiday Inn's; catering from the full English option to fresh fruit salad and yoghurts, sliced cold cuts and cheese & pastries, 8) Check out, was straight forward and hassle free In summary, the hotel scores 7.5/10 for a good Holiday Inn perhaps looking slightly dated compared to others in the chain.
