Stayed one night as part of a coach trip to the area. Arrived shortly after 6 pm. Reception very well organised with key cards ready and a request for our party to choose our meal which was booked for 7.30pm in the Junction Restaurant. Our room, when we finally got the key card to work with the help of hotel staff, was clean and spacious. Tea and coffee making facilities, with top ups from reception on request. The temperature of the room was perfect, not stuffy and hot like most hotel rooms. Yes, the bathroom was small especially compared to the room itself, but you could manage to do what you need to do in a bathroom. The bar was extensive and very expensive and would have benefitted from having more comfy chairs to relax in. Breakfast in the morning was good, attentive staff and an e celebrate choice of hot and cold items. Freshly cooked to order eggs, meant with a little planning your breakfast was perfect. Only slight grumble once the Danish on display were taken, that was it. I didn’t see any replacements being brought out, so late comers missed out. I would stay here again if in the area.
A very uncomfortable stay for myself, husband and 7 year old daughter. The “double bed” is small ( I’m a size 10 and my husband is in no way big ) every time we turned in our sleep we woke each over up the bed moved so much. However facilities are nice, tidy and clean and staff are helpful and polite. I did have to make a phone call to front desk at 6.30 to tell them to shut the woman next to us up ( she was shouting down her phone enthusiastically ) Because of this on top of a bad nights sleep, I then did not get a lie in. Over all I feel like I wasted my money and could have stayed somewhere else.
We stayed here before a function on a "bonys night" The reception could not have been better & as Platinum Members we were given an upgrade & our welcome drink We had room only, which was very comfortable if a little small, but decided to take up their breakfast offer as it worked at £7.50 a head What a mistake to make. The welcome was very off hand the continetal buffet needed filling up & therefore very limited The cooked selection looked as if it had been there for hours & tasted like it, however my Green Tea was very nice & the cuttlery etc was clean
Ample parking on site although if you arrive after dark it's poorly lit, reception friendly enough, room is average, don't know if all the rooms are similar but possibly the smallest bathroom ever. Went to use the pool, it was closed for Aqua fit (Tuesday 6.30 - 7.30) but I joined in, looked like the gym was well equipped and there is a sauna and steam room. Room service OK. Breakfast available early and serve yourself apart from hot drinks. Overall it does what it says on the tin but nothing to separate it from other hotels.
Week booked an executive room the day before travelling using Booking.com and saved quite a bit on the price advertised in reception, for what we paid it was good value. Arriving about 7.00pm we found a place in the car park as someone pulled out, the car park looked full and it was raining, could have been awkward. The lady on reception was very pleasant as were all the staff, the room and bathroom were clean and smart. We had a drink in the bar and had a nice starter each off the restaurant menu. Breakfast the next day was buffet the need to order fried eggs first wasn't obvious. All the public areas were clean and bright. The only problem we had was the stuffiness, the bedroom window had restricted opening and the passageways were long and airless
Stayed for 2 nights as attending event at UEA. On arrival was not happy with room, noisy & drafty! Asked to be moved & helpful receptionist moved us to 3rd floor executive room which was so much nicer. We'd arrived late so had meal in hotel on 1st evening. Food quite good. Breakfast on both days was hot; tasty & plentiful. Taxi into centre £7. We had a very nice stay but Norwich City Holiday Inn has the edge. Have stayed at both & would return to Norwich city first!
Good free parking off the main road and the internal colours are quite bright and cheerful. On arrival, we were given a room with a shower but no bath. When I asked for a room with a bath for our two night stay, I was told no such rooms were available (at 1930hrs) and it was first come first served. The bathroom was minute, although the bed was comfortable. Only the "i" newspaper was provided for Platinum members of the IHG Reward Club. Dining in the Bar first evening and Restaurant second evening were both disappointing esp for my wife. In the Bar, my wife had a New York Club sandwich for £11. The bread was hardly toasted, the sandwich drooped as she ate it, the cold chicken was unappetising and it was revealed that the bread was simply sliced brown bread out of a supermarket loaf. Second night, her "pork loin" turned out to be pork loin steaks with one of the two so tough the knife would not go into it. The number of potatoes was about 12-14 and it was quite overpowering so about 6-7 were left on the plate. My meals were OK. There were no coverings on the tables, which were badly marked, chipped and scratched. The staff were very pleasant and they told us the new chef believed in piling up the food on people's plates. The manager was away for a few days I was told on leaving having already left a note asking him to contact me on first morning and I left a second one on leaving but heard nothing , and when I rang him he said the notes had never reached him. He rang back and, although he was sorry, he said that of the thousands of guests he had per year, nobody really complained about the food, although he did concede that money needed to be spent on the hotel. He did not feel strongly about the fact that, with three floors, there was a need for the absence of a lift to be be publicised.
Stayed here for 1 night. Comfy beds and a quiet room. We was on the 1st floor. Could not see a lift though. The hotel is adequate, but feel it could do with a major refurb. Reception staff was good and the breakfast we had was satsifactory. Free car parking. Overall OK for a 1 night stay.
We have just returned home from a fabulous weekend at the Holiday Inn, Ipswich Road, Norwich. The room was clean with extra facilities e.g. Hair dryer, iron, plenty of soft towels etc. Only one small problem were the swipe cards to enter the room which didn't always work first time! The breakfast offered lots of choice and 'hot' plates were provided! All the staff were helpful, friendly, yet professional, and made us feel welcome. We were part of a large group and the hotel provided an excellent evening buffet - such a variety of food, both hot and cold, regularly replenished so that everyone had plenty to eat! It was wonderful to meet up with 'old' friends' but made all the more special by the team at the hotel. Thank you.
A group of 60-68 yr olds were determined to meet to celebrate their retirement from teaching a mutually convenient date was the last week in October 2017. The venue was reasonably close to Keswick Hall College, our alma mater, and so a party of 5 decided to scope out the Holiday Hotel, Ipswich Road in April. The deal that Jo Arnoup and her team put to us was very fair and so we took a group booking. The weekend actually began on Friday when early arrivals began checking in. Indeed the bar area soon filled up with friends and Keswickians and quickly the reminiscing began. The bar staff nimbly filed their way through us helping us to choose meals from the bar's extensive menu. All enquiries were met with a positive and polite answer and indeed the very upbeat tone of the Manager Konstantin ensured that this weekend was going to be one to remember. It woulkd be unfair not to mention Pasquale Prashanna, Ionela Junnel and Calvin who gave such tremendous help to all of our group in the bar. Nothing was too much trouble and even spilt drinks were immediately wiped up and replaced with no fuss. One of our members had trouble booking in for 2 nights, he flew in from Nevada, USA and had misunderstood the booking procedure. His booking was quickly amended with minimum fuss and this attention to detail helped the success of the weekend. On Saturday we had a musical event which the Hotel staff helped us prepare for and very well they did too. The buffet meal that Head Chef Mario and Andre Tomasz laid on was superb. There was plenty of it, the meal was very well presented and it was hot. There were 80 in our group, keeping everyone fed, watered and happy in their accomodation was some feat but one that the Hotel staff managed comfortably. Will I go again, most definitely. Will I ask the staff at the Holiday Inn to help me organise it, oh yes.
