Upon checking out, I spoke directly with the owner. he stood there sleepy-eyed, hair askance, and mumbled nothings. he simply didn't care that: 1) 3 of the 6 ligh bulbs in the room were burned out. The room is very dim. 2) The room smells of must and old usage. It stinks. the shower curtain stinks. The bathroom is dirty. 3) No exterior lights at night. Not safe, not pleasant. 4) the curtains are plae yellow, don't block out the light, and so at night the changing Boston Pizza sign next door alternatelyilluminates and darkens your room....if you like disco 24/7, this is your room! 5) The bed is cheap, the towels are thin and inadequate. 6) No cable TV. We counted about 12 stations, and you have to manually punch them into the controller. You cannot surf these TV's, and these TVs have no brackets to prop them up...alll the TVs are simply leaning backwards against the old splintered TV cabinets. 7) The condition of the bathroom is evident in the pictures we took. On top of everything else, it took ten minutes for the teenager in pajamas to find someone to check us in. He ambled by eating popcorn. By chance. If sloth is a sin (and we LOVE sin) we love sloth less now. It felt like we'd walked into someone's living room. The room keys are on good ol fashioned keychains...which do NOT HAVE THE ROOM NUMBER PRINTED OR STAMOPED ON THEM! Brilliant in our opinion, to the point of imbecility. Yes, i spoke to the young man who is the owner in the moring. He gave not a whiff. I wasn't going to pry a single dollar in the way of refund from his greedy hands. he didn't care about Trip Advisor, booking dot com or any other peer reviews. He's running a slummy place.....very few people were there, but some are permanent residents, and not the likes of which you wish to be neighbours with, even briefly. In the morning there was a disopute between a guy on a bicycle visiting one of these tennants, it was voluble, and neither appeared washed or sober. If the stay wasn't so fantastically terrible I'd be appalled, but i am not: I am still in shock. If you too want electrocution, stay here.
The room was absolutely filthy! Microwave was dirty and someones fake fingernail laying in front of it. Air conditioner had a ton of filth and dust all over the front of it. Bath fan was noisy and had a towel between the fan and the ceiling for some reason. Bunk bed was a hazard and about to collapse. Dead bolt was missing and door lock didn't work too well. Paint falling off ceiling everywhere. Mattresses and blankets suck! Some pretty sketchy people hanging around outside. Do yourself a favor and keep looking. I thought for sure there would be bedbugs but didn't find any thank god.
It's not the place to stay at all. Room is very dirty and smelly. Refrigerator is dirty and moldy. Promised TV doesn't exist. Furniture is broken. Whole place needs big reconstruction or better use bulldozer and start fresh.
It's alright for the price . The pool was good and there is a play ground for the kids. It's not a four star which we are use too . But it's in a great location . Save money here to spend more on site seeing
We had endured hours of traffic driving for a birthday celebration (mine). Wanted a heart shaped Jacuzzi but only wanted safe and clean and a place to lay our head. We arrived early (2:10 pm) so thought by chance we could get in early (not expecting but hoping). The person checking us in gave us a room right away. Room was finished being cleaned and it was the wrong room (no Jacuzzi). She said she gave us the wrong room as she was trying to help (she was waiting for a list). Our room wasn't ready either she asked us to come back in 20 minutes. We did some shopping and returned at 3:20. Room still wasn't ready so we sat outside the room waiting for it to be finished. Not enough plug ins, no coffee pot, no clock, tv control was broke. Could use the sound but had to manually do everything else. Curtains were white which it was very brightly lit outside so sleeping wasn't an option. On the plus side it was clean and loved the Jacuzzi tub. We weren't expecting anything fancy and this met those expectations...came home exhausted today and slept...
Do not stay here. Do not even drive by. It's a nightmare. We booked online without knowing better. First of all, people live here. They hang their laundry outside their rooms and my educated guess is that most of them are on some heavy drugs. The lock on our door was missing, just a hole with tape over it. The floor was disgusting and the bedspread and curtains had cigarette burns in them. The table had only three legs, the fridge was disgusting, there was a big hole in the bathroom ceiling, the toilet was broken, the tub was filthy, paint on the walls was chipping, baseboards were coming off the wall, and everything was stained brown. Needles to say we took pictures and a video and left immediately. However, we forgot to leave the key and had to go back on our way out of town. It was about 2 am and there were tweekers walking around and drug deals happening in the parking lot. If you value your life, stay far away from the Arkona motel.
After check in, found pubic hair on the toilet seat and rim and feces in it! TV was broken and leaning against the back of the cabinet and one bed leg was broken and it was leaning! On my way to the lobby to complain, I was offered "Whatever I need" from a Drug Dealer who was sitting outside! I went and complained to the staff about the condition of the room, they wanted to show me a different room and came with us to see it. The toilet was broken and continuously running, the TV was MISSING along with one of the 2 drawers from the cabinet! One bed was unmade and the pillow case looked filthy. I told the staff, who was standing there seeing this, that this was also unacceptable. Went back to the lobby and said I would like a refund, she went to speak to the owner, he came out personally and said "We showed you 2 rooms, if you don't like it, don't stay", I tried explaining the problem and he interrupted me and repeated "If you don't like it, just get out" and Refused to listed to me or refund my money. We left and stayed at the Ramada down the road. This place is NOTHING like the pictures, the smell is terrible and the people are Rude. This was By Far the worst place I have ever seen. Don't be fooled, Stay Away!!
I booked this hotel because it was cheap and it was on the Wego bus line. I knew it would be nothing fancy but I didn't expect scary. When we pulled in, the lower rooms all had their doors open with beds and other furniture out on the sidewalk. We almost left but then decided that since we had prepaid, we would at least see the room. I realized they were in the middle of a remodel and so decided to have a bit of patience with the situation. The lady at the desk was exceptional. Very friendly, gave us the extra towels that I asked for, got the right key when the first one didn't work and had someone clean up the mess on the floor that was in our room when we walked in. When I asked for ice and she explained that they didn't have any, she offered to fill my cup from her fridge. This hotel has WiFi but really didn't as it was so slow that I could not even read email. From there it was all downhill. Once settled in our room, I realized that there was no deadbolt on the door. A chair under the knob fixed that but still made me a bit nervous. The walls were only partially painted and there was a towel forced around the edges of the fan in the bathroom. Not sure why. The last straw was when the toilet did not flush!. Two of us managed to last the night but the other two left and got a room at a nearby hotel. This may be a different place once the renovation is done but as of June 2017, it was not adequate as a hotel.
Please do yourself a favor and stay away for this motel!!! It's the dirtiest motel in the Niagara Falls area, the room are absolutely disgusting! Plus you can only expect Terrible customer service from the their staffs!!
Oh man. Where to begin? So I booked this at the last minute because it was cheap. It was already 9pm and I had to drive from Michigan. I didn't want to drive straight through to NYC overnight so I decided to stop near Niagara Falls and sleep, visit the falls and then finish my drive. I arrived late and the woman at the front desk was none too pleased. Well, she wasn't actually AT the front desk, the door to reception was locked so I had to ring the outside bell a few times for her to come TO the desk. It's not as if they shouldn't have expected me... I added in my booking that I would be arriving very late and even specified the hour! Anyway, I got my key and made my way to my room. It was about 2am but there were several suspicious looking people milling about outside their rooms smoking. I tried to look nonchalant and hoped that my car would be there in the morning as I continued on to my room. Hoping to escape the dread that had affected me during the short walk to the room, I opened the door with a modicum of hope... Which was quickly dashed. UGH! Pretty gross. Like 'don't walk on the carpet in bare feet' gross. It's run down and shabby and kind of funky smelling. I don't want to describe the funkiness because it makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit if I think too much about it. I looked around for a WiFi code but could not find one. So I had to wander back outside and down to the front reception. This was only about 3 minutes later and again, the door was locked. So I rang the bell that had JUST worked but this time, nothing. I think that they had unplugged it (it's an electric bell). Mind you, WiFi would not be that big a deal for one night but I live in the UK and the mobile data plan I have works in the US but does not work North of the Wall ;) So I kind of needed that WiFi password to assure the few people that care about me that I was safe(ish). I ended up clicking obnoxiously on the glass with my key for a few minutes until someone came up, wrote it down, cracked open the door a few centimetres and slipped me the password. I felt dirty. In the end the WiFi connection worked *very* intermittently - more off than on. I tried not to take it personally. There was a TV circa 1996. I don't know if it worked because the screen had something that resembled human waste spread across the front of it. No, I'm not kidding. Also, I didn't really want to touch anything in the room with my bare hands. Keep in mind what I JUST said when I tell you that the toilet didn't flush properly so I had to open the top of the tank and manually play with the flush so that the tank would fill up. I'm pretty sure someone used the tank as storage for something nefarious at some point. But I have no proof of this. There was a bizarre mural painting of Tinkerbell over the bed that creeped me out. I mean, the yellow walls were bad enough (I think the specific name of the colour was Liver Disease Jaundice Yellow) but that Tinkerbell gave me some serious doubts about the interior design capabilities of the people responsible for outfitting the Arkona. I wondered if every room had a mural or if I was just the 'lucky'.one. The top lock was missing (the actual bolting one). The knob to turn the bolt was there but there was nothing inside the mechanism. So I put a chair under the door knob! Why? you might ask... Because the Motel seemed so skeevy that I didn't feel 100% safe on my own in the room. YUP! And I'm not even a scared person by nature... I travel alone all the time. But I'm not stupid, either! Upon preparing to retire for the night, I found that the curtains wouldn't close properly. They were kind of barely hanging on. It was as if they had thought to leave the motel but then realised that they were handcuffed to this rod so just kind of gave up and dropped into a heavy depression that left them sagging and difficult to adjust. In the morning I got to see the outside and the building in all its glory. Man, I'm glad I arrived late because it was even scarier and more rundown in the daylight. On the plus side... Close to the Falls So, to sum up: Unfriendly Rundown Smelly Ugly Skeevy Scary Creepy Basically NO! Don't go! RUN AWAY!
