Wyndham Inn on Long Wharf2.5 out of 5.0

Wonderful April romantic getaway with a great view from our room. We are wyndham owners so we use a lot of properties around the country and the inn at long warf ranks up there with any place we have stayed when we are looking for a romantic getaway without the kids.
I've stayed at five other Wyndham resorts around the country and this was the worst by far. The Wyndham resorts are usually a much higher standard than other resorts, but not in this case. We stayed in a one bedroom in the high rise building (fifth floor). It had a beautiful view of the harbor and was very clean. The bed was quite comfortable. But several issues challenged us each day. The first challenge was the wifi. It was very difficult to connect, and after leaving the unit and returning later, it was a 50-50 chance of reconnecting easily. Next is the totally aggravating hot water situation. Showers have periods of cool water that last for minutes. Another issue is the HVAC. There is no thermostat to set. It is the hotel style wall unit that is almost impossible to regulate. Wake up cold in the morning, leave the unit for a few hours, and return to a sauna. There is storage space throughout the unit, but sorely lacking in the bedroom, making putting away clothing for week another challenge. Although reasonably equipped for a small kitchenette, there is no dishwasher or oven. The living room is likewise on the small side. There were only two of us and I usually felt a bit crowded. The high rise we were in had no pool or hot tub; those were across the street, so a quick dip was an ordeal (this was late March). And I had no interest in the activity program - I guess it was oriented more toward children. All things being considered, the view was great and the location was perfect, but I consider this only a half step better than a three star hotel.
I stayed at Wyndham Inn on Long Wharf from December 17, 2017 to December 21. My room was on the third floor. I had a corner room with a great view of the bay and town. The layout of the condo is a little odd. You enter into the bedroom. The bed was very comfortable, with fairly good pillows (a novelty in this era of cheapo hotel pillows). There is a small flat screen TV, a clock radio, a dresser, and an armoire. You walk through the bedroom to get into the rest of the condo. In my unit, immediately on the right was a full size refrigerator with ice maker. Next was a sink, and then a nice flat surface electric range, and above that a big microwave oven. Opposite this “mini kitchen” was the door to the bathroom. It was nicely appointed, with a granite countertop, lighted shaving mirror, and shower/Jacuzzi bath. Walking through this area, you get to the living room. It was quite spacious (I visited another condo that had a much smaller living room). There is picture window and heating/cooling unit built into the wall next to the window. There is a sofa, easy chair, coffee table, small dining table, large TV with many channels including HBO. I found the condo quite nice. There were a few oddities, however: There is no window in the bedroom, so if you close the door to the rest of the unit, you are in pitch blackness. Also, the heating unit is at the far end of the condo, so it is slow to reach the bedroom. There were only two lamps in the living, at opposite corners, so the room never was very light at night; I would sit on next to the lamp by the sofa to read. On the third floor there is a room with free to use washers and dryers, as well as an ice machine and some vending machines. Check in is across the street, at the Wyndham Long Wharf. You can use that facility, which includes a small movie theater, a small outdoor pool and hot tub, and best of all, a small indoor pool that extends outside, a hot tub, and an exercise room. The area with the indoor pool is quite nice, with two fireplaces and two TVs, as well as a self service coffee/tea maker. There are two large bathrooms there, with showers. But no lockers. All the employees were very friendly and helpful. Of great importance, of course, is the location. Well, the Inn is very well located! Walking distance to the historic district, Touro synagogue, and much shopping and dining. Also close to the main road that can take you all around the area. One mile from the Navy base—be sure to visit the Naval War College museum there. Around the corner is the tourist information bureau. Unfortunately, I traveled during the off season, when most everything was closed. Which meant in the evening I could spend an hour by the pool, enjoying it and the hot tub, and catching up on some reading. In summary, I highly recommend this resort.
Our 1 bedroom unit was right on the water and gave us a beautiful view from the living room! The property is very centrally located, within walking distance of many downtown attractions. In our unit, the door opened into the bedroom instead of the living/dining area. We wondered if this was because the commercial fishing boats (which were literally out the window) could get noisy at an early hour? Our kitchen had a full size refrigerator, but only a microwave, toaster, and a two-burner cook top. This was fine for a weekend for two. However, no oven and no dishwasher would be a challenge for a week long family vacation. We would return in the future, but would make sure to be in a unit with a full kitchen.
We quite enjoyed our stay here. Spacious and well-equipped room, with good wifi, parking, etc. No complaints other than a somewhat noisy air circulation system. The location is wonderful. Walking distance from everything and close to many restaurants and shops. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. A special shout-out to Cindy who was particularly helpful and nice to us, especially as first-time visitors. We had somehow missed, at the time of booking, that this is a condo establishment and the daily room attendance is not provided. Not a big deal since we were only staying 2 nights. Also, we did not get a "room with a view" as requested. Overall though, this was a good place to stay and we would consider staying here again (if the price is right).
Pool was not open The floors in the dining, kitchen, & master bedroom were wet. We got different stories why the floors were wet. Bed was comfy. Kitchen was serviceable. My sister did not like the twin beds in her room. I'm 6"9" tall; I could not stand in the shower. The downtown location is good.
My 1 bedroom suite at the Wyndham Inn on Long Wharf was just perfect for me. As a kosher traveler, I had to bring my own food. My suite was equipped with a full size refrigerator, microwave, sink and a stove top. The bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean. Great location too!
We arrived on Sunday and 'Jose' the hurricane, hit on Wednesday. Although the weather was simply some occasional rain and higher than normal wind we could not take advantage of the outdoor pool, however they have a heated indoor pool, a hot tub, and a sauna inside. What really made this a great vacation for us was all the people working at the resort. The staff really enjoyed interacting with us to make it a good vacation
Spent two sleepless nights due to rowdy, drunk guests having a party in adjoining rooms. The staff was not able to get them to be quiet and the security guard they sent to the room was joking with these guests in the hallway blaming the "complaining guest". When security left, the party continued with loud laughter about the noise and complaint. This occurred after 1:30 am and continued beyond 3:30 am. Way past the "quiet hours" limit. As I checked out I asked to see a manager and no manager was available. No wonder the staff of youngsters could not get the job done - no management. I left my name and number for the manager to call me when "she" arrived and it is no surprise that no one ever called. This was our third stay here and we have seriously considered purchasing a week here but now realize that it would be a mistake. I will not invest in a location with poor or no management.
very nice location - samll rooms but adequate for two of us - beware if you qare staing in units 358 thru 362- there is noisy construction going on in space below as this are is being converted to 5 br condo - other wise location and services are well done.
