One night stay in the Honeymoon suite to celebrate a birthday. Nicely appointed and spacious room that offered privacy and comfort. Great shower. Had wine and spirits delivered from Vickers at owner’s recommendation. Terrific breakfast of scones, frittata and avocado toast. Would be fun to do with friends too.
OCEAN ROMANCE My wife and I went to a wedding in Newport Rhode Island last weekend. My wife was in charge of booking a room for three nights. To my surprise, we did not stay at the typical BNB or hotel…Ocean Romance here we come. As we stepped on to the dock I was a little suspect of where we were headed. I am happy to report the adventure turned out great. Dave and Jean greeted us as we arrived later than expected. Dave gave us a tour of the beautiful Ocean Romance. It is well kept and very clean. The room accommodations were certainly smaller than most of us are used too. However, we mostly just slept in the room and spent most of our time in the community areas on the boat and on shore. Jean makes a delicious Quiche each day accompanied with fresh scones and a beautiful fruit assortment. Dave and Jean are sweet people who go out of their way to help and serve their guests. Thus, I give the Ocean Romance a 5 Star. And if you want a new adventure, don’t buy a boat…but, stay with Dave and Jean on the Ocean Romance.
A stay onboard Ocean Romance is pure pleasure. The hosts, Dave and Jean, are warm and inviting. Also as others have noted, the breakfasts were stunningly good. Kudos to Jean! You will be hard pressed to find a better breakfast - any where at any price. The bed was large and comfortable and all things were tidy and clean. I could go on but, let me close with this comment. You will leave the Ocean Romance with a smile and your spirit refreshed. 5 Star!
What a perfect place for a recharge! Rooms are meticulously cleaned, even my mom would be impressed! The breakfast is top notch! We were lucky enough to have scones and quiche. I HIGHLY recommend both! There was plenty to see in Newport, even able to walk from the boat.
If you have not stayed at Ocean Romance book now! My fiancé surprised me with a getaway and the Ocean Romance made it wonderful! We stayed in the king room and it was spacious, had everything we needed and the bed was so comfortable. I'm a coffee snob and there was a keurig in the lounge, I'm a foodie and there were fresh organic quiche and scones for breakfast, there were other people staying but I hardly saw them. It felt like we had the yacht to ourselves. Pros: delicious food, beautiful room, gracious and knowledgeable hosts, quiet, peaceful location minutes to everything. Cons: we didn't stay longer. We will stay again.
I would highly recommend staying on this yacht! It is the best & the hospitality was beyond awesome! If you are in Newport, this is the only place to stay! This is an absolute 5 star destination!!!! You should book your stay now!
Truly a unique experience! Instead of gawking at all the amazing yachts, imagine staying on one. The Ocean Romance B&B gives you the opportunity to experience this lifestyle. Jean and Dave hosts/owners welcome you onto their yacht, their home with open arms. We had the Honeymoon Suite. A large room, having a very comfortable King-size bed, 2 swivel rocking chairs, mini fridge, flat screen TV and our own 3 piece bathroom with all the amenities. The main salon is large with comfortable couches. There was a supply of juice, pop and water in the fridge, a coffeemaker with a variety of pods and an assortment of snacks. There was an enclosed upper deck offering a great view of the surroundings. The back deck was a great place to sit and watch the passing boat traffic. Jean and Dave will give you as much privacy as you like or will engage if asked, explaining local history and attractions. Dave is a hockey fan and can relate some personal stories of people he has met. Jean's cooking is worth mention. Her specialties are omelettes and quiche (both amazing). My favourite were her Blueberry Scones. She is quite willing to share her recipe. Location was an easy walk into Newport. There's so much to see in the area - we'll be back.
Spent two beautiful nights aboard the Ocean Romance. Dave and Jean were lovely hosts. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel right at home. I would highly recommend you try the Ocean Romance as a unique get away to beautiful Newport! Oh and Jean's breakfasts are outstanding!!!!
My husband and I stayed for two nights on the Ocean Romance before our sons wedding at the Hyatt. The owners, Dave and Jean, were very nice and they made the stay there very pleasant. The breakfast foods were delicious on both mornings. You do not want for anything. The quiche, omelets, scones and fruit salad were all delicious and there was plenty of juice, coffee, teas, and bottled waters for all. we forgot our beach towels and they had plenty available for guests to use. The boat was very clean, comfortable and quiet. We were able to relax before heading off to the wedding. If we ever plan a trip to Newport again I would not hesitate to book our stay on the Ocean Romance again. Five stars from both of us!!
My wife and I, having been to Newport several times in the past, happened on a somewhat different B&B listing. The Ocean Romance is a yacht, although stationary, with all that a floating property implies. To put it succinctly, we had a wonderful time - everything about our stay had that particular bit of difference which made it memorable. We spent time in both classes of cabins - while the smaller ones were comfortable enough, the larger one was all that the pictures promise - comfortable, roomy with all of the amenities (assuming you bear in mind that you're on an 80' boat, not a high rise hotel). The location is just far enough from the center of town to be quiet with views of surrounding boats (some of them downright majestic) but close enough so that a 15 minute walk brings you to the heart of Newport. The sunsets were absolutely spectacular. Dave and Jean were charming hosts - personable, solicitous and dedicated to hospitality. They gave us several pointers for activities that were not generally advertised, whether for sailing/sailing lessons or sights to see, and while we've all heard the phrase before, we almost felt like family. You won't forget that you're on the water, living on a boat and that's part of the charm. By the end of our stay, the short climb or jump (depending on tide) to and from the boat, became second nature. And like all boats, maintenance is ongoing with an eye to guests' comfort and safety. In short, this is definitely the kind of place you'll want to come back to if you're looking for an out-of-the-box experience.
