First let me say that this is a nice place. However there are nicer places so it wouldn't be fair to give it a five. There were a few things that just weren't quite right and didn't make it a "we need to go back there" kind of place. We stayed in the Admiral Perry Room that was a little too nautical. Just a bunch of fake stuff. Honestly it could have used a good dusting. We happened to be there during a rare heat wave. Our first night it was too warm in the room. We left a message to get some assistance and our call was not returned. A very uncomfortable night. In the morning we were told that the "owner" had specialist in "infrastructure" that would allow them to bring the room to a comfortable setting. I think they were missing the point that there was no thermostat in our room, it was located somewhere else. The remaining nights were just bearable, not comfortable. The afternoon reception is really nothing to write home about. A local red wine, white wine, twelve crackers, a few slices of cheese and green grapes. Every afternoon. When the food was gone, it was not replenished. We were told beer was available. When we asked for it, we were told it wasn't cold. A little variety would have been nice. The breakfasts were okay, but quite simple. Every morning it was the same, yogurt, fruit, granola and Wonder type bread or English muffins and some kind of doughnut. Same thing every day. There was a hot option each morning, but honestly it wasn't anything you couldn't get at Denny's. Not bad, but certainly not worth a five. The hostess Paula, was very nice. But when she couldn't help us, she deferred to the owners. So you really didn't get the innkeeper, pride of ownership feeling. She seemed more like an employee trying to save money for the owner. The location is great. Like I said, I wouldn't recommend avoiding this place, but there are other places in Newport that deserve a five and it would be unfair to them to rate La Farge Perry House the same way.

I highly recommend this B & B. We stayed for two wonderful days. We were warmly welcomed and the hospitality throughout our stay was great. From the first moment it felt like visiting with friends. We stayed in the Master Suite which is tastefully furnished and very spacious. Everything was sparkling clean. The B & B is in a very nice neighborhood and it is very quiet. The breakfast is excellent - the innkeeper also offers plenty of additional food which is freshly prepared. Even our teenage son enjoyed the stay – especially the warm muffins and homemade pancakes for breakfast. We can't wait to come back - but then we will have to stay longer for sure.

We visited Newport for the Jazz Festival and stayed at the wonderful La Farge Perry house. The location is ideal to walk to any of the downtown Newport sights. The house is elegant yet feels welcoming and comfortable. Breakfast is a treat as well. A great location for enjoying your visit to Newport.

We had two rooms - the Master Suite and Oliver Perry. I stayed in the Master with my husband and daughter who stayed in the small room at the back of the apartment. The room was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom luxurious. The Inn is beautiful and kept in excellent shape and has a beautiful back garden. Paula was a gracious, warm and helpful host and was accommodating to all of our needs. The location is nice - a short walk from town and in a quite area. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Newport.

We had a wonderful (too short!) weekend stay with our host, Paula. This property is lovely (indoors and out), and Paula was delightful. We were greeted with glasses of local wine and a cheese/fruit tray. Breakfasts were cooked to order and were wonderful. Paula's willingness to share her in depth knowledge of Newport made our travels out and about seamless. Climbing the stunning stair cases to the secluded, lovely Margaret Lafarge room on the 3rd floor gave us a chance to enjoy all three levels, period furniture, and a gorgeous stained glass sky light. We will not hesitate to stay here again!

We have stayed in our share of B & B's across the country and I can honestly say that the La Farge Perry House is at the very top of our list. The property, grounds and rooms are fantastic not to mention the location is within walking distance to many of the attractions that people travel to Newport to enjoy. However , the best part of our stay was spending time with Paula !! To say that you will want for nothing is an understatement. Her welcoming demeanor puts you at ease the from the minute you walk in door till the time you leave. She is extremely helpful with knowledge of the area, makes dinner reservations and is a darn good breakfast chef to boot. We look forward to returning as soon as possible.

Our host Paula was just delightful. Excellent local knowledge, great recommendations for eating. The house is spotless and beautiful. Lots of little extra touches to make your stay extra special. Cannot recommend enough.

I am a local Newporter who lived up the street from this hotel. Although we move away, we return to Newport often. We arrived just before the 4th of July to probably the most awful hotel experience in an establishment up the street from La Farge Perry House. We managed to snag an early check in at La Farge and were rewarded for our efforts. It is the sister hotel to one of the most beautiful hotels in Newport - the Chandler. La Farge is a B&B, decorated much like its big sister in keeping with the era and history of the home, without foregoing the modern amenities expected by guests today. Rooms are large and individually decorated. My room had a huge jacuzzi tub; another I saw had a working gas fireplace. A formal breakfast is served, cooked to order, either in the solarium or in the more formal dining room. What a great way to start the morning! The innkeeper, Paula, and her assistant, are clearly invested in the integrity of the home, offering the best in service without being stuffy, assistance without being intrusive. Just loved my stay and will stay again.

amazingly wonderful innkeeper! Paula could not have been more hospitable and helpful. The premises were decorated beautifully and kept in a pristine manner. Wine and cheese reception in the late afternoon was well appreciated as was the nighttime cookie snack. Worth the trip!

This was a wonderful place to stay ! Paula the innkeeper was very nice, informative, and lovely to talk with. The house itself is very lovely and spotless. Our room was ready early and we were able to check in right when we arrived. Our room was perfect and the toiletries were top notch. The morning greeted us with fresh squeezed juice, a made to order breakfast and hot out of the oven muffins. Excellent place and great location.
