Was indicated shared bathroom with other room but must have misunderstood or not, but 2 bathrooms for entire floor. Are kept clean though. Rooms very small, stained floors, not sure if bedspreads clean or even pillowcase. Gym facility a good thing. Parking on street if can find.
Shared bathroom was dirty and towels smell was terrible
It's definitely the best deal you can get in this part of NYC. However, you do get what you pay for.
Location, location, location! Check-in took 40 minutes. Only two employees available. Some paperwork could have been filled out while waiting on line.
Staff at the front desk was not friendly at all. The cleaning staff very nice, the room nice and clean and the semi private bathroom was always very clean. The welcome person at the entrance also very friendly. All the facilities were outstanding swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room, we enjoy it very much.
The interesting building. The activities that are offered there. The diversity and inclusiveness of the staff and people staying there. Also the price for what you get is great.
Quick, easy check in process. Clean room. For a hostel, I would recommend it.
Great location, not a lot of restaurants in the area, especially cheap ones.
The communal bathrooms were very clean, the various daily yoga classes are excellent and the two 1929 swimming pools are literally works of art.
Room was small and old. I asked to get a single bed that was big enough for two people and they couldn’t give that to me. They only had small bunk beds. Bathrooms were old and creepy. Room was extremely small they don’t even have their own bathroom. The only nice thing about this place is that is right next to central park and close to the trains and walking distance to Times Square . I wouldn’t come back here though.
Good for the price and only needing somewhere to sleep at the end of a day of sightseeing. No shampoo or conditioner provided, soap and towels only. Shower cap required in pool, which had little open swim time. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Air conditioner was very loud, but worked.
Excellent staff at the front desk! They were patient and took their time with each guest.
Best location in Manhattan across street from Central Park. Great value at $100 plus you get use of great gym. Accommodations not great but serves as place to sleep. AC noisy but a necessity in humid NYC.
Received single room with bunk beds. Not at all comfortable for an adult. No rooms were available to switch. There were literally smeared boogers on the wall next to bed. Only one electrical outlet in room. Very old window air conditioner in room. Shared bathroom was only cleaned once a day with only one of the three stalls having a working door. I wound up paying 475$ for a plane ticket home because of the poor sleeping conditions. YMCA would not refund for the remaining 4 days left. I could go on, but there are other cheap affordable options in New York to choose from such as the POD hotel. This is my first ever negative reveiw on this site after many trips. I would not recommend staying here.
Always clean rooms with clean bathrooms! Have stayed many times!
The staff was great. Able to check in early. Only drawback we had was that the heater felt like 100 degrees. Way to uncomfortable. Other than that inexpensive place to stay.
Las habitaciones no eran para nada limpias. Buena ubicacion.

Thank you for choosing West Side YMCA! Thankfully, we have several bathrooms per floor and are kept clean throughout...you must have misunderstood. Housekeeping is very detailed with the cleaning and linen change...they are changed everyday!
