Hotel has great location, friendly staff, and is very clean. However the room that we had the bed was extremely uncomfortable. For being in the French quarter the room was quiet at night, but the guests in the morning were louder and we were not able to sleep in because we could hear them walking, slamming doors and talking.
This hotel was conveniently located and the staff was SUPER nice and friendly. I had a suite and it was just right. There isn't valet parking (or any other kind of parking), no elevator and no luggage carts/bellhops.
Wonder help at the front desk upon checkin. Walked us to our room and gave great info about a new restaurant opening in the area.
Great location! Close to everything! However, bed was too soft and the pillows too high, causing a back pain. No desk or chair to do any work on, but staff was so kind as to have moved a metal chair in from the courtyard. Air conditioning, which does not come with temperature control by guests, makes the room too cold, but shutting it off causes the room to have stale air.
Very nice place, clean, modern rooms. Very close proximity to bourbon street, restaurants, and shops. Staff was helpful, convenient small breakfast items every day, and coffee all day :)
Friendly and welcoming staff, easy check in and check out. My room was very clean and comfortable.
I just wanted a simple little place to be stationed while I bounced around New Orleans. This was perfect for it. If you're looking for a resort hotel, this isn't it. If you're looking for a quaint place to come home to after exploring the city, this is perfect. The only real con was lack of windows, but as mentioned, was only really there to sleep, clean up and keep my stuff safe. As a bonus, the front desk lady really helped me locate some great spots to hit up for some local jazz. Pretty cool.
This was the third and final stay at hotel Set. Helene at 508 Chartes. The previous two times the hotel was a 6 out of ten. This last stay was horrible. Upon checking in we were told that a returnable $150 deposit would be charged to our credit card to be returned 7 to 10 days after checkout. when we entered our room the stench of mold was second only to the 80 degree temperature(the high that day was 69 and the low was in the 50's). The staff told us that the HVAC system was on heat and all we could do was to turn the thermostat to auto and leave the window open. We will never stay there again.
First of all, the staff was super nice and friendly. The location of the hotel is great since it's close to Jackson Square and far enough from Bourbon that it's relatively quiet on the street. We were on the ground floor which turned out to be basically in the lobby which made it kind distracting with all the people coming and going. If I could recommend one improvement, it would be replacing the bed. It was really uncomfortable and seemed well worn since it sunk in and was quite squeaky. Overall, not a bad stay but would recommend requesting an upstairs room for travelers and upgrading the beds to the hotel.
We used this place for a night of drinks in the French Quarter, so we didn't have to drive home. Location is excellent and the room was nice. The pool looked really nice too. Not sure about much else, we really didn't spend much time there other than to sleep.
our stay was excellent!!! The hotel was everything and more!! unfornutately we weren't able to swim in that beautiful pool because the weather was too cool. Can't wait to come back!!!!
The hotel was clean and nice for the price and location. The only issue we had was getting enough clean towels.
Hotel was great! We wanted to stay somewhere that had that French Quarter charm. Hotel was close to everything we didn't have to drive anywhere. Wish they had parking though. We had to park and pay $25/night at a garage across the street. Will definitely stay here again!
A little disappointed that there was no elevator and it wasn't mentioned in their add that I saw. We were on the top floor (3rd). Of course it did force step excersize that we needed after all of the great meals we had.
On a quieter street - a little away from the hustle of Bourbon. Awesome breakfast place on the corner don't miss it. Beautiful courtyard and pool. Very New Orleans :)
The hotel over all was very plain. Actually there were no amenities. We chose this hotel for the value and location. We paid in the mid 80's a night which was a bargain. It's 2 blocks from Bourbon street. Front desk was very friendly. Would I stay here again..... yes!
First off, I must say, excellent customer service! Staff was very friendly and helpful we got some excellent restaurant recommendations that were spot-on. The room was clean and very comfortable. I loved the character of the building. Over all, I'm very happy with my decision to stay here. Best part of all, the location! If you're looking to stay in the french quarter, I highly recommend.
The hotel was right smack in the french quarter, so we were close to great restaurants, bars, and music. The french quarter is so lively, so full of life and culture. We were lucky to be part of it. The hotel was very clean, and very old, and we appreciate the history. My girlfriend loves the haunted history of New Orleans, and loved the fact that there were haunted buildings to the left and right. The room was very clean, very white, and somewhat small. There were no windows outside (we did not know this until we got there) and there were only a small handful of rooms that had windows out to the street, and these were all booked up. As it were the only windows in our room opened up to the internal courtyard - and all the sounds of people walking up and down the stairs were amplified. There also was a pool in the back - which is why we booked the hotel, but the pool was mostly for show. I never saw a guest actually go swimming. The staff were very helpful and courteous. They did everything that they could to make our stay more pleasant. I just would have liked a window.
I have been to this hotel several times, you cannot beat the location and price of this place.
The location of this hotel was great! Right in the middle of the French Quarter, which made it within walking distance to practically everything. The accommodations were pretty basic and the rooms were small, but I'd recommend it if you're just using the hotel as a home base.
