It nice because it’s Close to French quarter Rooms are simple
Firstly, I would like to say that our bellhop was about the best thing about the property, so 5 stars for him. He was pleasant and hard working. The front desk girls were dutiful yet not very personable. The room did not have windows - HUGE upset on our part, it was small and oppressive. It appeared clean however there was mold in the bathtub in several areas. The grout around the tub, toilet, and sink was dirty. It could have been easily cleaned with bleach and a quick scrub. There was nowhere to hang wet bath towels, a hand towel, or face cloth. I feel that it was expensive, even with the understanding that it was mardi gras. The room was super small and the no window thing was creepy. Overhead the bed where my head lie was an air vent that appeared to have some water damage and that was concerning through the night as I kept thinking I would have water drip on me. We did not spend much time in the room, however, the time spent was oppressive. My husband who is not afraid of anything awoke in the middle of the night troubled, felt claustrophobic and could not get his boundaries resulting in leaving the light on in the bathroom to get a sense of space. So there you have it. We will not be back to this hotel. I also do not see a basic room as Orbitz advertised on the Hotels website, and the price for what could be basic is about $100 less per night. I would caution using Orbitz for traveling and I would not recommend Hotel Royal.
Staff was wonderful! Large soaps, shampoos, etc. and coffee in the lobby. We really enjoyed it our stay. Location can’t be beat, either.
Clean rooms, clean hotel. Staff is great and friendly.
I can not believe how disgusting the bathrooms was ! For $100!- night hotel... I was expecting no mold or grime on the shower head. Mold all over the tile floor. Their receptionist also asked me what my service dog did for me. That is completely illegal!!! DO NOT STAY HERE !
The facility is very old and Very small. Great location! The staff was very helpful. Our room was in the courtyard and they were right there to carry the luggage up and down the step
We could not stay bc they had no parking for my vehicle and we requested a refund do to my vehicle being left in the street, I will never stay here or suggest anyone stay here. And to top it off when we arrived they had no one at the front desk until 30 mins later!!! She was so rude....
Great location, great staff. House keeping service very poor. Didn’t vacuum or sweep floor. Shower drain plugged up wouldn’t drain.
Great location in French Quarter! Easy access to most of the places we visited.
Great location in French Quarter, close to everything and not noisy. Very friendly staff. At first I felt it’s clean, but on the second night I found a huge cockroach running around on the floor.
Great location, friendly staff. Front desk has water which is a plus!
With family it is not a good place to stay. To many stairs not good for kids and if you have a lot to carry you will get tired. No parking unless you want to park down the street.
There were cockroaches in our room. I cut my foot on glass that was not cleaned from the previous guest. The location was not the best. No elevator made it difficult. Not the cleanest property I’ve stayed in in New Orleans.
Paid for room ahead of time and was stuck in a room up 6 flights of stairs. no pool restaurant or other amenities.
The staff was excellent. Always friendly and eager to help with anything. The room was updated nicely and very clean and comfortable. The only downside to the hotel was having to park several blocks away with no valet service, and very little area to park in front to check in or unload luggage.
New Orleans in July. Temperature was in the upper 90s. AIr conditioning was not working in the room. NO attempt was made to rectify the problem. I was told by staff, "the maintenance person had gone home. I could call the manager." As far as i know, either the manager wasn't called, or they didn't care.
Hotel needs major upgrading. Staff was very friendly. Rooms and bathrooms very small. Shower is almost to small to even be able to clean your body in. My room had no wash cloths and when asked for one room service came and said they were all dirty. The next day when our room was cleaned we was giving only one wash cloth for two people. You have to run the shower water for 5 plus mins for the water to get hot. There are massive water bugs running around the hotel grounds. There are no elevators but the staircases are very dangerous and even more dangerous when it rains. I wouldn’t recommend nor stay here again.
