In February we booked the two bedroom apartment at the Frenchman Inn at 519 Frenchman street for July, because it had such great reviews, Three days before our arrival I received and email saying my reservation had been canceled ( due to renovations) and they changed me to a different hotel that had one room with two queen beds. I called the Hotel and spoke to the assistant manager to see if I could change to Two one bedroom apartments and was told they were not available and he would have the Manager call me on Monday....He never did call. Booking.com is the only way you can book this hotel so I called them to see if they could get us better accommodation's in the French Quarter and the booking agent could only find a room 1.9 miles away. I'm familiar with New Orleans so I called and got a room at the Marriott myself. If this would have happened in the fall or peak times we wouldn.t have been able to get a room in the French quarter or would have to pay an astronomical price. So beware..... I would call the hotel directly at least a week before to confirm your reservation. We will not book this hotel or go through Booking.com again because of this experience.
Beautiful place to stay right in the middle of all the French Quarters excitement!!! Pool and jacuzzi were great! Blues! Blues! and More Blues! The clubs were rocking!! Walking distance from lots of excting places.
While planning our trip to New Orleans, I took the advice of a friend who had stayed here last year and booked our room at the Frenchmen for 3 days. We arrived really early (about 11am) and they went ahead and pre-checked us in and told us when the room would be ready. We parked out front and went to check out the city. We came back at around 3 and our room was ready and we were given our key to room 102 (which is basically across from the office and around the corner from the laundry area). The room was clean and very comfortable. Everything we needed including toiletries and dish soap (if needed) as well as coffee, filters, sugar, etc and a full sized coffee pot (YAY!) ... we had no issues with our room and even though it was noisy on the streets and at the bars across the street, once we were in our room we could barely hear anything. Certainly not enough to keep us awake. Additionally the laundry facilities are complimentary after 3pm so we were able to get a load of laundry done our last evening there which was great considering we were on a motorcycle. My only suggestion (not a complaint) would be to replace the shower head with a smaller regular sized one. The rain shower type head is too large for the pipe size coming in and the water pressure was very low and delayed so you had to wait a minute for the shower to start. No big deal to us. That said, if we ever make it back to the NOLA I would stay here again in a minute. It was well within walking distance to most everything we wanted to do and see and plenty of places to eat/drink across the street and next door.
Great accommodations and location and staff...i would definitely book there again! The pool hot tub and Jacuzzi were awesome and there was a nice patio. We were near music art and the quarter. The staff held our luggage until we could check in and successfully made every effort to get us in our room before the 4pm check in time.
The Frenchmen Orleans at 519 is a awesome place to stay in NOLA. It is located just outside the French Quarter across Esplanade. This area is booming with restaurants, cool bars and music joints! Our two bedroom condo was clean and comfortable. I will stay here again when in the Big Easy!
We visit New Orleans A LOT & we absolutely LOVE discovering different places to stay & new places to enjoy. Frenchmen Street was all of that & more! We loved being close to the action but far enough away to unwind and relax as well. We loved 519! It was above our expectations! The parking was only $17 a night & that is a bargain in NOLA (most of the other hotels we have stayed at charged $30+ a night ), you could actually see our car from our room, & we had access to the car whenever we wanted (at other hotels valet parks you & don't see it again until you're ready to leave). It was also very easy to get in and out of the parking lot and back on to Elysian Fields. Our room was very nice (204). It was in the center of the 2nd floor facing the pool (no room balcony) & we never had any issues with any noise & both my husband and I are very light sleepers. The king bed was comfortable although it looked "well worn". The room was very spacious & even had a walk in closet. I was concerned about the amount of light in the room because we are light sleepers, but the very attractive wooden shutter blinds kept the room nice & dark. The bathroom was small, but clean & updated. This is the only area of this room where you could actually hear noises and voices from the outside, but again this wasn't a problem we didn't come to New Orleans to hang out in the bathroom. The kitchenette/living area was very nice & included a pull out sofa! It was very nice to have a full-size refrigerator to keep our beverages cool, stove (but who cooks with all the great food available right outside the door ?!) sink, bar area, and even a small dining table! The furnishings were updated modern and clean. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed staying here!! The one thing that bothered me a little bit was our room was never cleaned although we had the sign on the door. But this really wasn't a big deal to us because they left the cart with the pool tools open & we just grabbed several clean towels which is all we really wanted anyway.
We booked 5 nights here during the 2017 Jazz Fest in April/May 2017. There were many good things about this hotel but they were overwhelmed by the bad. We were in Room 302. Pros: - Excellent bed, comfortable king size - Loved having fridge, stove and microwave - Location is wonderful - walking distance to mostly everything and close to public bus route for jazz fest (91 bus) - Free laundry for guests after 3pm - Secured entry gate to keep unwanted Frenchman Street rowdies out - Small pool and hot tub with towels provided Now the bad: First: Too loud. No, I mean really, really LOUD! We'd read the reviews and thought people were exaggerating but they weren't. Even though we weren't at the front of the building, my husband who wore earplugs was still kept awake until 4am by the music across the street. Think of how loud you play your music full volume at home during the day when you're by yourself cooking or cleaning - that's the volume it was inside the bedroom when we were trying to sleep. Second: We had a rude awakening one morning, with the front desk calling and waking us up at 11:05 am "reminding" us of the 11:00 check out. Only problem: we weren't checking out that day! They were a day early. Grrr.... Really not happy given how late we'd been up due to the loud music. A couple other things that were slightly annoying: - Housekeeping was spotty. They cleaned only one day because we told them the bathroom tub wasn't draining well. They made the bed - which I don't really care about - but they didn't take our wet towels off the floor and replace them - which I do care about. But our room was clean when we arrived. - No alarm clock in the bedroom to know what time it was. - The bedroom only has vertical blinds so lots of light comes into the bedroom in the morning. We covered the window with a couple sarongs so we were fine, but I expect many guests are sleeping in after late nights so a darker bedroom would be nice. - The bedroom only had a night stand on one side so my husband didn't have anywhere to put his book, phone and other things. - The bathroom just has a pedestal sink so we ended up using the toilet tank for many of our toiletries. There's room for a shelf on the wall - that would be nice.
Arrived to find floors dirty, bathroom dirty and dust all over. Complained to staff and the said it would be cleaned, but never happened. Mattress on pull out couch bed needed to be replaced. Bed was lumpy and was unable to sleep on. Complained to staff and received a piece of foam to go on top. Maid staff comes into room just to empty garbage cans. Beds never changed or made dirty towels never removed from bathroom. Location was great. Over paid for room and services.
This apartment was perfect located, close to the best spots of the city regardless jazz clubs, but in a little bit quiter area. The music sometimes could be a little bit louder but just closing the room door was enought to have silence to sleep. We were very lucky people, because our bedroom was conected with the pool, so we could enjoy a swim in the morning, have a nice breakfast and then enjoy the whole city. The hotel provide every basic you may need even, you can use washing and drying machine. So super, super handy acomodation! I dont wanna forget the guy in the reception, he was super helpfull, nice and kind. So a big THANKS from this british and spanish couple 😊
Stayed at the 519 while on a motorcycle trip through the south with two buddies. The location of this hotel is amazing. Frenchmen street is the heart of the New Orleans music scene and one of the best clubs is directly across the street from the hotel. We enjoyed Frenchmen street much more than the Bourbon street area. Fairly easy walk to all of the French Quarter area and close to the trolley for everything else. The front desk staff was super friendly and we loved the balconies for hanging out and listening to the music. We had a two bedroom suite with a king and two twins and it worked great for us. Our room was on the front of the building so you definitely do hear the music from the clubs until early in the morning - but it wasn't a major issue for us - we were either tired enough not to care or one night I did use ear plugs to get to sleep. The price for such a great location. I think rooms at the back of the hotel would be much quieter if it's a concern. Complimentary laundry machines were an unexpected bonus for three guys on the road with minimal luggage. We initially had some concern with parking the motorcycles in this area but the hotel set us up in a spot right in front of the building where they have cameras and all concerns were gone. The room was fairly clean but definitely could use some updates - especially some paint. The couches had stains. This is stuff that didn't bother us at all but could some. Overall - the 519 exceeded our expectations and contributed to a great first visit to the Big Easy. Thanks - will be back!
