We had a couple of great days with Pete and Janine. It was a lovely place to stay and to explore Nelson from, and we were really well looked after. Pete was so helpful with local advice and nothing was too much trouble. Very comfortable accommodation, fabulous breakfasts and the warmest of welcomes. We had a great time.

Amazing value for money, lovely and thoughtful hosts, would highly recommend! Pete went above and beyond to make your stay perfect! The Breakfast is great too - good location to visit Nelson and the area

Peter and Janine are very hospitable and real pros. Pete met us in the driveway when we arrived and his attention to detail continued throughout our stay. The room was small, but efficient and charming. Pete prepares excellent breakfasts tailored to our tastes. His recommendations for dinners were right on. He ordered a taxi when we did not want to drive to town. We would definitely stay here again.

Room was small, breakfast was marginal, owner was great but the price was $100 above what was normal on this long trip. It is a house converted to a B&B and very little space. I paid $240 for their best room it was worth more like $140.

Again, after one year, we stayed at Amblesides B&B in Nelson, New Zealand. And although there were new owners, this place was still amongst the best accomodations we had during our trip. Janine and Pete are lovely people who made our stay unforgettable. Along with other guests, we had some great chats, great laughs and the breakfasts served were fantastic. The rooms are very good and clean and the location of the B&B is great, near beaches, the city of Nelson and the Abel Tasman NP. We can recommend this place to everyone who is planning a holiday to New Zealand. We'll never forget this place and will always be "sinking" of you... Thanks a lot, Paul & Janet

My friend and I felt as if we were guests in a family home. Every comfort was provided and every wish anticipated in this friendly and very comfortable B&B. Dear little dog Billie, was an added bonus, as was the garden with a stream, ducks, pukekos and eels. Breakfasts were top quality - an extensive list of choices. Then there were the tasty treats available in the guest lounge in the evening. I would return to Ambleside in a heartbeat, for the comfort and the lovely hosts, Janine and Peter.

We arrived in Nelson on a gloomy day with much rain and cold weather. However, our mood changed shortly after getting to know Pete who runs the place. He offered excellent suggestions for restaurants and things to do in the area. He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and was extremely helpful with all matters. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi every night with a bottle of local wine, which Pete provided from his collection. Breakfast was always an adventure as I showed Pete how to make crepes and he in return made excellent omelettes, pancakes, scones and other goodies. Every evening upon our return, he made tea and served it with locally made cookies. We can't say enough good things about our host. Pete's hospitality more than made for the sparse bedroom facilities and bathroom. We ended up extending our stay for a third night to enjoy more wine tasting, visiting Abel Tasman and the WOW museums.

Ambleside was our first stop on a month-long visit to New Zealand. We arrived as strangers and four days later left as friends. Janine and Peter were warm, welcoming, informative hosts who never steered us wrong. And those breakfasts! Cooked to order eggs with fresh tomatoes, fresh fruit, an array of cereals, and/or homemade blueberry pancakes! We had early excursions (which they booked for us) two of the mornings and Peter insisted on making us a cooked breakfast.Yum! We had a wonderful stay in Nelson/Abel Tasman, but a highlight was sitting around our last evening and sharing stories about our lives. Thanks for the amazing start to an unforgettable New Zealand adventure.

We stayed here for our first two nights in New Zealand and absolutely loved it. The owners made us feel so welcome and were very helpful. Breakfast was delicious, the room was great, the hot tub is excellent, and there is an adorable dog to boost. We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed two nights at Ambleside during our 3 week tour of the South Island. Peter and Janine warrant all the positive comments here from other travelers - they are excellent hosts. Peter was especially sporting when Ireland beat the All Blacks for the first time in 111 years, just after a brilliant breakfast on the Sunday morning (Saturday evening Chicago time), The choice on the breakfast menu is amazing. Our room and all the facilities were very comfortable, and the location on SH6 is ideal for Nelson itself and access to Abel Tasman.
