Never again! Not a smart move. Broken headboard, no stopper in tub.
First, the good. The staff at Drake Inn was great, especially Michael at the front desk. The room was clean: the mattress cover had some very suspicious stains, but the linen and covers were clean. Some of the furniture (specifically, a couple of drawers) was broken, but it was no big deal. The location and ambiance is unfortunately terrible. The hotel is located in a nasty part of town. At sundown, drug dealers and their customers roam the area: I would not get out of the room (or keep my blinds open) after dark, and I would most definitely not leave any valuables in the room. The fire dept. and police seem to be frequent visitors. Probably not worth the savings over a hotel or airbnb in a safer area.
The motel itself is no frills but clean and comfortable... located about 2.5 miles from the Ryman auditorium in a less than quaint but by no means dangerous neighborhood. Our primary complaint is with the staff. Checking was fast and efficient; however, at shortly part 12:30a I awoke to the sound of someone entering the room with a pass key. I leapt from bed naked and my wife screamed out as the man began ranting in the dark about how we had been given the wrong room and needed to leave immediately. Through a combination of forceful action and threats to call the police I managed to remove the intruder and bolt the door. He was ultimately identified by the property manager as the night clerk. Without offering any apology, her manner seemed to suggest this was a common but harmless mistake. I think anyone who has ever stated in a hotel/motel knows this to be absolute rubbish. I strongly reccomend Orbitz reconsider offering this motel. I reccomend any future visitor bolt their door and prepare to make a call to 911.
Location was convenient, between the airport and Nashville. Microwave and fridge included. Bring your own cookware.
Some of your front desk staff members are not very friendly.
Classic Nashville.... real atmosphere.... great lobby... write a song !! Cool kids will love it !!
The motel did not meet my expectations. The rooms were filthy and smelled of smoke. I was in Nashville to check out the scene and see The Who at the Bridgestone Arena. The bathrooms there were cleaner than the room...
I don't mind staying in below average rooms to save a buck but do not choose this one. It had bed bugs that bit both myself and my girlfriend. She even dug some out from between the mattress. On top of this furniture was broken, toilet paper or paper towels were stuck to the walls. some kind of material was stuck to the pictures. Blood or sauce... Rooms are the worst I have stayed in. They even tried to move me to a new one. Just as bad. No refund either.
Good location, not too far from Broadway. Good price for what it was, much cheaper than most alternatives within the same radius.
If you aren't going to be in your room very much at all, this is acceptable. The pictures on the walls were busted, and there are cigarette burns all over the place. There are quite a few people who live at the Drake. That shows.
It was our first experience to stay at the motel but we enjoyed it! Rooms were clean, location is not great (because of neiborhood), but it you will come by car - you don't care! Perfect price and good place to stay in!
Made the mistake of reading these reviews only. Look this place up online, and see just how many people have been positively disgusted by it, just as I was. Filthy and moldy. Rude staff who refuse to give a refund, even when there's mold on the walls, furniture, mattress, carpet, etc. The shower head wasn't actually attached to the wall. And the entire room was covered in black dirt.
great location, friendly staff, definitely worth every penny.
We loved the courtyard feel. The front desk man was wonderful. McDonalds and some other places basically next door. The pool looked nice, we didn't go in. The room had an OLD t.v, and the bathroom was DISGUSTING! However, we brought our own sheets, flip flops to shower in and ziplock bags for storage. We did see a bug that looked like a roach but we weren't sure. The next morning they started calling at 10:30 reminding us to get out. We were deciding if we were going to stay again when they knocked on the door 15 minutes later reminding us AGAIN that we needed to go or book the room again. Checkout is at 11 and we were all ready. The vending maching actually sells noodles and stuff, that was cool. Our fridge didn't really work, we had to put everything in the small freezer space. All in all, the place was so quaint that we will be staying there again when we come back to NashVegas
Fir this hotel You would get what you pay, The only good think is the location, within driving distance to down town.
Just a old motel that used to be nice. Needs new equipment.
My husband and I decided to take the MegaBus to Nashville for our first year anniversary. Due to Taylor Swift being in town, many of the hotels downtown were full. I saw the Drake Inn and was hesitant about booking our room because of the previous reviews, but decided to give it a try since the trip was supposed to be an adventure! Checking into the hotel was very easy and the staff was friendly. We were offered towels and they did have a nice outdoor pool. The rooms, however, could use a little elbow grease and a good deep cleaning. You could tell the carpet hadn't been washed in a long time, if ever, and there was wax all over our room as if the previous tenants had left candles burning every where. The bathroom was the worst part of it all. I found a few squashed cockroaches on the walls and 2-3 live ones under the sink. There was also black mold by the bottom of the bathtub from water dripping out of the shower. I will say that I was pleased our sheets were clean (no bed bugs) and there was a mini fridge to store drinks. The location of the hotel isn't in the safest part of town, but it is a very short bus ride from downtown Nashville and to the MegaBus lot.
It is what you get for booking a cheap motel. Wasn't execpting better but it was okay. I would have rather paid a little bit more and stayed downtown.
I wasn't willing to pay over $200 a night to stay downtown so I selected the Drake due to its price. I thought maybe that it would be nostalgic and quaint. Wow....this hotel is basically a living residence for day laborers and transients. The room was very outdated and unclean. There was mold on the lampshades. There were stains on the walls. There were cigarette holes in the sheets. There were holes in the box springs (no telling what was hidden in there at one time or the other). The only good thing I can say is that my family didn't get bed bugs. It may be a good backdrop for a movie or video, but don't stay here. If you want a cheap room in Nashville, stay on the outskirts of town.
The room was okay but the staff was excellent. You get what you pay for and I would go to the drake again
