Hotel overlooks the harbour so it is noisy. Rooms are spacious and clean. Area is busy and a bit tacky. Parking is limited - we weren’t allowed to leave our car for 1hr after check out. Poor breakfast and works meant it is noisy. No facilities. Over priced.
Stayed one night where the check-in was easy with the service to assist with luggage which was appreciated with senior folks. Rooms we had were facing the lake with great view. However the size of the rooms were quite small. It is at the pier where we boarded the ferry that brought us round the lake. Breakfast was acceptable and there weren't much activities around that area in the evening. Price of the rooms were the highest for our entire trip in Taiwan but we were told that is expected for hotels next to the lake. A good stay nevertheless.
Stayed 2 nights at the Sun Moon Lake in the quad room facing the lake. For the price you are paying anyway, please just upgrade to the lake view. The view is stunning. The quad room comes with 2 double beds and a comfortable sofa that could work as a fifth person’s bed. The room is clean, with a big bath tub and separate shower and toilet sections. It has a balcony overlooking the lake and that is fantastic. You could spend time watching your fellow tourists embark and disembark from the boats as it is right in front of the jetty. I think this and the neighboring hotels offer the best view, better than the more expensive ones. Unfortunately, the view is about the only thing great about the hotel. You basically lug your own bags to the room. No one helped us. Check out was a strict 11am and they called at 10.45 to make sure you vacate by 11. You could store your luggage at the counter until you are ready to leave the lake. Check in is at 3pm so I wonder if they really need 4 hours to clean the room. Breakfast is moderate and ends at 9am, but that is sufficient time to eat since you would want to catch the earlier boats to the other locations. The air conditioning was not strong enough to bring the temperature below 24C even when we set it at 16C so it was a bit getting used to at night. Too cold for us to sleep without the blanket but the blankets were too warm to use. Sleeping with the door open to the lake was an option we chose but noisy neighbors chatting on the balcony could ruin your precious sleep. Overall, it was a steep price for a nice view. If you want the view and are on a budget, you could try the other two adjacent hotels. I see no big advantage choosing this hotel since the service was virtually non-existent anyway. Hotel charges NT150 for a round-lake boat tour but you can get it for NT100 at the yacht counter if you purchase between 6 and 8pm the night before.
Checking on the 21st of February, 2018 with Dinner Meals included. Without Luggages service to our rooms due the shortage of manpower, even we had elders with crane. Same while Checking out ) (Told by Miss Nancy ) Surprisingly, the Dinner Meals ( six of us ) were told to be served in one single Pork Tender Loin, Stired Fried Rice and Green Vegetable ONLY. ( Tea Bags ONLY without Coffee Drinks ) ( We cancelled later ) MY GOODNESS. MY GOODNESS.
I stayed at this hotel for the second time. The hotel is located right next to the ferry dock. If you choose to stay in the lake view room, the scenery is spectacular. I love to stand on the balcony and look to the distant mountain. The room is not very big but has everything you may need. The breakfast is OK. I will choose this hotel for my next trip to the sun moon lake.
The room I shared with three others was nice. Two queen beds, shower, bathtub, little balcony with a view over the lake. Breakfast was delicious, a good selection of vegetarian/vegan. My only complaint would be that the beds were pretty hard. If you like a stiffer bed, this is for you. Other than that, nice stay!
The hotel has a nice breakfast and decent amenities at a reasonable price. The view and location are perfect. My only issue (besides lack of English TV channels) is that the bed is very hard and uncomfortable. Still, the shower and toilet are Japanese-style and nice.
Great location, friendly staff, great price. It is located right next to the boat/ferry dock so very convient. Centrally located around 7-11 and many restauarnts. The view is completely unblocked with a spacious balcony / chairs. Great helpful service. The only complaint is breakfast was mediocre and furniture slightly run down. However for the location and price I would recommend this hotel as Sun Moon Lake is a very touristy area.
I stayed here by myself for one night. I'm very impressed with the following verdict and thus highly recommend it to ppl who love to travel with peace of mind. 1. Location is great! 1 minute walk from the bus stop. 2. Free prof bikes for rent (Giant), making my bike around the lake much easier and saving you the rental fee. The staff at the rental station is very nice, gave great advice on biking path and super patient. 3. View is great and the boat dock is just nearby, perfect for a boat commute. 4. Breakfast doesn't have a good spread but they have exquisite food like congie and dumpling houses!!!! So good! 5. The bathtub is so clean and good for a soak after a long day out! Overall, it's a very relaxing and convenient trip. If you like biking and would like to travel solo this hotel is definitely worth the money you pay.
We have stayed here a few times now. The selling point is the view of the lake from your balcony. Do not purchase a room to the rear - what is the point? Stick with a lakeside view room. The staff are friendly and, as said in the previous review, Jerry is very helpful. The concierge staff are also helpful and parked my car at the front and also got us bikes. Previously there had been a restaurant here, but this time it was closed. There is also no bar, so the hotel becomes a bit soulless and you have to leave to find dinner. Be warned, there are many poor quality slop houses providing tepid fayre for the bus tourists. You may want to explore before taking food recommendations. On a clear day, from your balcony, the view is amazing.
