Great location, friendly staff, great price. It is located right next to the boat/ferry dock so very convient. Centrally located around 7-11 and many restauarnts. The view is completely unblocked with a spacious balcony / chairs. Great helpful service. The only complaint is breakfast was mediocre and furniture slightly run down. However for the location and price I would recommend this hotel as Sun Moon Lake is a very touristy area.
I stayed here by myself for one night. I'm very impressed with the following verdict and thus highly recommend it to ppl who love to travel with peace of mind. 1. Location is great! 1 minute walk from the bus stop. 2. Free prof bikes for rent (Giant), making my bike around the lake much easier and saving you the rental fee. The staff at the rental station is very nice, gave great advice on biking path and super patient. 3. View is great and the boat dock is just nearby, perfect for a boat commute. 4. Breakfast doesn't have a good spread but they have exquisite food like congie and dumpling houses!!!! So good! 5. The bathtub is so clean and good for a soak after a long day out! Overall, it's a very relaxing and convenient trip. If you like biking and would like to travel solo this hotel is definitely worth the money you pay.
We have stayed here a few times now. The selling point is the view of the lake from your balcony. Do not purchase a room to the rear - what is the point? Stick with a lakeside view room. The staff are friendly and, as said in the previous review, Jerry is very helpful. The concierge staff are also helpful and parked my car at the front and also got us bikes. Previously there had been a restaurant here, but this time it was closed. There is also no bar, so the hotel becomes a bit soulless and you have to leave to find dinner. Be warned, there are many poor quality slop houses providing tepid fayre for the bus tourists. You may want to explore before taking food recommendations. On a clear day, from your balcony, the view is amazing.
What a delightful hotel with a beautiful lake view and convenient location! We have been visiting many National Parks both in the United States and Taiwan. Sun Moon Lake National Park and Hotel del Lago definitely has been the best experience we’ve had so far. Hotel Del Lago’s location provides unparalleled views. You can sit at the balcony of the hotel room and enjoy a wonderful view of the lake. Even though the facilities are not equivalent to a five-star hotel, the location, the views, and the staff were outstanding. Jerry, the Executive Secretary, is super friendly, professional, and very accommodating to our needs. He is willing to go the extra mile to give us a lots of tips regarding nearby tours, even the tours for our next destinations. The hotel is also situated nearby downtown Sun Moon Lake which have many dining places you can choose from. It only takes three minutes to walk from the bus stop to the hotel. Furthermore, there is a biking trail just a few steps away from the hotel, which is said to be one of the top “10 Breathtaking Cycling routes” around the world by CNN News in 2012. I was able to enjoy my morning runs around the scenic lake. Would definitely recommend checking out Hotel Del Lago if you are planing to visit Sun Moon Lake National Park! A few things to consider while staying here: - stay as much time at the balcony of the hotel room as possible to experience the marvel of the lake - walk or run around the lake during sunrise - book a free bike rental from the hotel (costs 200 NT dollars to rent on the streets) and you won't be disappointed. - book a room with a lake view if possible. - ask Jerry for any help
We booked a room here for two reasons. One was for its convenient location - it’s right on Sun Moon Lake and is close to the Shuishe visitor center. The second was for its good reviews. We were sorely disappointed for how much we paid and what we got in return. We had a room with a view of the street and it was noisy during the day. Then the room had just the very bare necessities... they had only tea bags available in the rooms, not even instant coffee packs. Checkin was another matter. We got to the desk, and I gave the girl at the front desk my passport since the prepaid reservation was in my name. She took my passport, looked at it and then handed me a reservation sheet for someone else, whose name looked nothing like mine. I told her that wasn’t mine, so she handed me another one. That name was even more different than mine. She got it right the third time round. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. I understand that maybe the rooms with the lake views may be better taken care of and prettier, but the cost of our room to what we got was definitely not worth it.
We were lucky to book the very last room with a lake view. The views from the room's balcony are stunning. Service is very professional, but there is usually only 1 person at the counter. The staff helped us book a boat tour, and the hotel provides bicycle rentals. The only complaint I had was the breakfast. Although the Chinese-style dinner is delicious, the breakfast buffet was cold every morning we went. We got there by 9 AM every day, and even though breakfast finished at 10 AM, all of the stove burners were shut off by the time we arrived. I couldn't stand eating pumpkin (and other vegetables) cold, so my advice would be to eat elsewhere in the mornings. Still worth the stay!
My wife and I came for a marriage retreat and had just a wonderful time. The hotel staff was just outstanding and accommodated us very well. We had a lake view room which was nice to wake up to. Comfortable beds, fridge in the room, and a small balcony overlooking the marina. Breakfast was good but nothing special - they learned that we liked our bacon crispy and were doing that by the end of our time. Hotel has some nice touches - umbrella when it was raining, fruit in our room, plenty of free water, free bikes during the day, guided sunrise hike, and right next door to Starbucks. Again, cannot say enough about the quality of the staff. This is a solid 4 star place.
The Hotel is absolutely amazing. Breathtaking view from our balcony sitting right on top of the lake. The staff; however, are the heroes of our time at Del Lago. After traveling in almost 40 countries, I have never found a staff who made you feel like a part of their family like this place does. From the cook who greets you each morning st breakfast to the housekeeper taking care of your room and everyone you meet in between, they all carry a smile on their face and express a genuine desire to not only serve you but to truly interact with you on a personal level. I have no idea if my journeys will take me back but I am confident the memories I made there with the staff will travel with me wherever I go moving forward setting the bar for all hotels that follow!
We had an amazing experience at Hotel Del Lago, beautiful room that overlooked this magical lake. Alexander, the director was extremely kind and accommodating and the room was quiet elegant and fantastic. I truly recommend staying here if you are planning on visiting this amazing place.
Staying here with my wife for a few days of chill out time on Sun Moon Lake. We got a free upgrade upon check-in to a spacious room on the 8th floor with stunning views of the lake. The room is good, with a nice big bed, reliable wifi and a separate side room which appears to be for having tea in (though we're using it for our suitcases...!). Halfway through our stay, a complimentary bottle of wine appeared in our room as well. Not sure what we did to get the special treatment but certainly not knocking it and was very sweet of the staff here. Our reservation included breakfast and dinner though we've mainly eaten out in the town as we wanted to explore a bit and try the local cuisine. Breakfast is principally for the Chinese market, so if you're looking for a full English or Continental Breakfast then you're in the wrong place, but otherwise fine if you know what to expect. The staff are lovely and can't do enough for us. Corinna at the hotel's front desk gets a special mention, even offering to have the kitchen cook lunch for us as we'd been lazy and skipped breakfast one morning. She speaks good English too and has helped to make our stay here a really enjoyable one. If you're looking for a hotel around Sun Moon Lake then you'd be hard pushed to find a better one than the Hotel Del Lago.
