Sentrim Boulevard Hotel is a typical Nairobi city hotel. It could need a refurbishment but is ok if you just need a place to sleep before travelling on. The best part is the restaurant which serves good food. The hotel is next to a smelly river, so if you dont like the smell of sewer stay away from the garden.
I hop in and out of Kenya for business and always stay at Boulevard. The staff are very helpful and efficient and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with good wifi throughout. The front desk is always helpful in making arrangements. The pool area and gardens are very relaxing. It is easy to get to from the airport or road and despite being in Nairobi is very quiet and calm.
A great location to the City Centre, National Museum and University. Incredibly clean rooms and staff were very kind. While the restaurant was a bit expensive, the food was phenomenal. Would highly recommend.
Stayed here for 2 nights solo before an organised tour in December 2016. I was suppose to arrive in Nairobi at midnight but my flight was delayed, so by the time I got to the hotel, it was 5am. The lady on the check-in desk was a bit surprised to see me but got me a room really quickly - I was on the top floor right at the end of the corridor, which was great as I just wanted to sleep. The hotel doesn't have a lift but only has 3 floors so it's not too bad. The room was a good size - it had two beds which I think were doubles. The bedding was all clean and the room had a desk, small TV, hanging space for clothes, coffee table with 2 chairs and tea & coffee making facilities. There was also a fan which wasn't great, but was better than nothing. There were plug sockets around the room but sadly none that close to the bed. The room was at the back of the hotel so there was a bit of traffic noise but it was okay with the balcony doors closed. I didn't hear any noise from the other rooms really either. I also had a view of the gardens at the back of the hotel. The wifi in the room was a bit patchy, but that might have been because I was at the very end of the corridor. The bathroom was large - they all back onto the corridor - and had a large counter with sink. The shower cubicle was also large and the shower had good water pressure and good water temperature. I missed breakfast on the first morning (I was knackered) but on the second morning it was great - there was a good selection of hot food (sausages, eggs, toast etc.) and cold food (fruits, dates, juices, tea & coffee too). I sat out by the pool - there are lots of sun loungers and tables and chairs - the bartender was great - there when you needed him, but not in your face. There are also tennis courts and there was a wedding party taking photos there during the day. We also ate in the restaurant there one night - I had the chicken supreme which was good and not too badly priced. As others have said the hotel is in a safe area close to the university - you can walk around the corner to the National Museum which is just next door. Like all hotels in Nairobi, it's got security and gated access. Overall, I enjoyed my short stay here - it was as I expected for the price and the staff were all very pleasant.
We stayed here as part of our group tour, apparently the only place in Nairobi for buses to park. Upon arrival the staff at the desk weren't very happy, looked tired and grumpy. The decor is a bit dated but I wasn't expecting much anyway. We got to our room, I was staying with my parter so we had a double room with a double/queen bed. It was fine, only a small fan which meant the curtains had to be closed 24/7 to keep the rooms reasonably cool. Small tv with nothing to watch but oh well I'm in Africa i don't need to watch tv. Bathroom was nice and shower was strong. They say wifi can be used in rooms, I found it would only work super late at night or really early morning, otherwise works well in lobby. Ate at the restaurant on site, nice but long waits, like 2 hours!! but drinks are so cheap it kept us occupied. Good service out front with the drivers getting us to restaurants, elephant orphanage, and airports at a cheap price.
The hotel is located on a quiet street near the university which is rated as safe, during the day at least. It is a short walk into town and shopping. It looks a bit grubby on the outside but is otherwise clean. Our room was large an comfortable with a safe, television (no remote.. but I could have asked!) but no fan or air conditioning. There is a pool outside and plenty of seating; the pool could be cleaner! There is a bar come restaurant which was fine. The staff were very helpful and, God bless them, they checked us in early at seven in the morning after an overnight flight... I felt like giving the hotel a 5 for that alone! Overall, thee verging on four.
Stayed at the hotel for one night. Very tired hotel and tired staff. Although the duty manager was understanding, I felt that the service was very poor from the rest of the staff. The restaurant staff were kind of not very welcoming and could do with a customer care workshop. Room service was bad.I asked for an ironing board and they delivered a broken board which had three legs. The only person who was good was the barman in the garden bar. It is not a 4 star accommodation. 3 star maybe.
This hotel is adequate for a short stay. The hotel is dated and not what I would recommend for longer than a couple of nights. The internet does not work unless you go into the lobby. They say it does but beg to differ. There is a restaurant onsite which is pretty good. Overall I would give it a good review.
Arriving in Boulevard hotel felt like going back in time, to be fair. The hotel interior is tired. Very tired. While the rooms were clean, they are that sort of worn that they still seem a bit dirty, no matter what - and the same applies for the bathroom. The room was very very hot for some reason, even if it had already cooled down outside. No aircon, but a nice little propeller to pretend to cool you off - at least they've made that effort. The bed was hard, and the pillow uncomfortable. Stayed here for two nights, barely slept a wink on the first as it was too hot and too uncomfortable to even try resting. The breakfast was okay, but the hotel restaurant was terrible. The dishes we had were not good at all, so that supper currently holds the top place of my top 3 worst dinners I have ever had. The staff was average as well - the breakfast boys were very helpful and accommodating, but the front desk ladies barely seemed to have any friendly bones in their body. All in all, I survived those few nights, but I'm happy they're over, and I won't be returning. If you have a chance to stay in another hotel, please do.
Stayed at this fine establishment on and off for 3 weeks! Received such a welcoming service! The decor represented traditional African culture! Great location and beautiful and relaxing gardens! Rooms are clean and comfortable. Food in the restaurant is great and suites all ages! I travelled with my mother and grandmas and we were all well fed! We travelled around Kenya in all the Sentrim establishments and it was all perfect! Can not wait to return!
