A lovely house with all the charm of an old rectory combined with up to date facilities. Great host and the opportunity to have a private chef prepare a gourmet meal.
It was a long planned family vacation and was everything we had hoped for. The house was lovely and centrally located for everything we wanted to do. Having dinner in the evenings on the patio was perfect. A very comfortable stay and would stay there again if in the area, would highly recommend it. Merci Philippe.

Magical Time in Rural France
We recently returned from 2 fantastic weeks in the Dordogne/Lot. The house and grounds are beautiful and provide luxurious surroundings for the children to run around in.
We spent many afternoons lazing by and in the pool. The small village where the house sits, is so quiet that there is barely a sound whilst you relax. And yet, within 10-15 mins you can be enjoying all the amenities offered by Souillac.
Highly recommended and we cannot wait to return.

Magnificent Holiday
Super House with lovely facilities. The pool was enjoyed by all the family and we had many a fun time playing table tennis. Philippe very accommodating and welcoming. A great area where the restaurants, things to do are abundant and very good. A huge range. Recommend the village restaurant - very friendly and good if basic food. Also the restaurant by the nearby lake.
Weather extremely hot in July and the only want was for a little more shade at times.
Would highly recommend the house.
Beautiful house - decor quite rustic - in a quiet village with local restaurant.
Overall very charming. Many original features add to its character.
Comfortable beds with good linen. Well-equipped kitchen - cooking utensils, cutlery, quality glassware and china. You will not run out of anything here. Air-con worked perfectly. Lots of hot water and good pressure in the shower.
Top tip: let the owner know if you want the pool heating on when you arrive!
Room to improve: bathroom towels - very small and only one each (Pool towels are provided. Would benefit from more shade and comfortable seating at the table on the terrace.
Owner was kind and helpful.

We stayed for 2 weeks in August 2018. We would definitely recommend it.
We were a family of 5 and the house had everything we needed. We ate at the local village restaurant 3 times and each time it was great, though you have to book ahead. The location is fantastic to visit most of the local sites being situated halfway between Sarlat and Rocomodor, and local shops in St Julien have most of what you need to top up - definitely worth booking well in advance online for Lascaux and Padirac. The LeClerc supermarket in Sarlat is fantastic. Philippe was great from initial booking, through to resolving the few queries we had during the holiday. Itâs not cheap, but we thought it was worth it. The only thing we would recommend, is a bit more relaxed seating in the sitting room for those who canât squeeze on the sofa!
A Beautiful House in beautiful setting. The rooms in the house were very generous. We never felt as though were on top of each other. Plenty of choice of different seating areas outside. Breakfast on the terrace, lounge by the pool or a quiet moment away from everyone in a 'secret' space. The gardens are large with pleanty of space for play if you have children with you. There is plenty of lovely walks to explore just outside the garden gates.
There is a lovely restaurant 'La Chastrusse' a short walk away, The staff are friendly and the food and wine are excellent. When we did fancy travelling further afield there
are interesting villages to visit and some amazing historical sites including 'Peche Merle'.
We had a wonderful time. Thankyou Philipp Bappel
House was nice, but issues with AC and bathroom - 2 units were leaking from day one, then one en suite bathroom was not working from day 4 - owner came to fix leaking AC on day 4 - he offered a free week of the house in mid season but we could not use this so asked for some cash compensation, have at this point heard nothing back. Outside furniture is old and could be replaced, small touches missing - nothing for the pool eg pool toys, seats, beds etc we bought all and left at house - biggest issue for me is the house is not in Saint Julien decLampoon but further away from the village and river in the next Neighbour hood - the house is remote - local restaurant in village walking distance- do not expect a great smiley warm welcome if u do not speak French -

Beautiful house but beware
We loved the history and authenticity of this house. But It Seemed like every day something went wrong. Owner was in Switzerland and so no one was there to welcome us and explain things. There was No info book describing how to use appliances, suggestions for where to eat etc. First night one shower flooded a bedroom. Owner fixed it late in the week and said the drain was clogged but we could not use the shower the whole time we were there. Description said air conditioners in every bedroom. This was not accurate. One bedroom had no AC and so the person in that room couldnât sleep there at night because it was too hot. . Couldnât get the dryer to work because host did not let us know we had to empty some water trap. In another shower the showerhead did not fit and kept falling off. Big rain storm and air conditioners in two bedrooms stopped working two days before the end of the trip . Air conditioner in one bedroom dripped water on head of bed. When we asked for a one day refund out of seven days because of all the problems, we were refused by the host saying He had to spend $900 to fix the air conditioners (The problem had nothing to do with us ). The last two days were not hot but the house is very old and got warm but we could not use ACs . There was no air conditioner in the main rooms so we could not use them except at night.
The host came back mid week. He tried to get the air conditioners fixed but no one was available. He was very nice until we asked for a one-day credit.
Die gute Ausstattung des wunderschönen Hauses, die Freundlichkeit und das KĂŒmmern von Philippe, der groĂe, sehr gepflegte Garten und die vielen schönen Details... Wir kommen gerne wieder!
My husband, myself and another couple just returned from a weeks vacation in this wonderful home. A few days in Paris both before and after the week in the Dordogne was the perfect combination of busy city life and pure relaxation in a more rural area of France than we anticipated. We have stayed in other VRBO homes in France which have never disappointed but this was the first time we were able to do what I always hope will happen - venture out during the daytime hours to the many lovely towns, castles and chateaus in the region, then either âhunt and gatherâ at a farmers market or the E. Leclerc in Souillac, and enjoy creating dinners at home. Experiencing Supermarches as well as the local markets is a highlight of any time to another country - the gorgeous produce, cheeses and meats and even the numerous and interesting condiments are a delight to ponder. We found that cooking our evening meals at home allowed for a slow wind down to the day with no prearranged dinner reservation to make which could have created an unnecessary sense of urgency during our daily travels.Because of this, I was especially impressed with how well stocked and maintained the kitchen was - every implement one would need, including sharp knives! There are many places to sit and enjoy the fantastic scenery in the outdoor spaces, but we found it just as nice to sit at the dining table inside and feel like royalty. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds extremely comfortable.
Almost always, after we conclude a trip, we talk about returning but never have followed through with that idea - somewhere new and unseen usually prevails over somewhere seen previously. This time however, we will return.
A superb property in an idyllic location !
The house had everything we needed for a fantastic two week stay, only wish it could have been longer.
The village was very quiet with a superb restaurant, with the surrounding area having some fantastic medieval villages/towns to visit.
Philippe was the perfect host and went out of his way to help whenever necessary and we really enjoyed his company .
I can only agree with the past reviews , in that it is the ideal place to relax/unwind, in a perfect setting, with every home comfort.
I would return tomorrow , if it wasn't so fully booked and I think that fully summarizes our views on Le Presbytere.
Thank you Philippe
What an amazing property. Absolutely loved everything about it. The beds were super comfortable. Plenty of space for 4 of us! Beautifully decorated with lots of cosy touches. The swimming pool was warm and clean. Great seating area near the pool with bbq. Location was perfect. Visited market in Sarlat on Wednesday, Chateau des Milandes was worth a visit and Rocamadour was spectacular. Lots of lovely days out and about. The only disappointment was that we couldnât stay another week.
We stayed end of September beginning October and had a mix of summer and autumn weather. The setting of the house, next to the church and chateau, with its large garden and heated swimming pool is outstanding. The bedrooms are large and airy. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. With a dog we had walks around the village and woods, (details available from the Mayor's office). There are lovely walks along the Dordogne from the beach/picnic areas at St Julien de Lampon which has a good selection of local shops - bakers, mini market and newsagent, chemist and cafe. There is also a bakers, mini market and restaurant in Payrac, with larger supermarkets in Souillac and Sarlat. Bread was available 2 kms away at the restaurant Les Sept Sources by the lake at Lamothe Fenelon. The nearest restaurant we would thoroughly recommend is Le Roi Carotte at St Julien de Lampon. We would also recommend MCVets, if needed, at Sarlat. Philippe, the owner, is very easy to deal with and keeps in touch to ensure that all goes well. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked to return next year.

So many good things have already been said - it's hard to add to the list!
We had a marvellous two week stay here in mid-September. With 6 adults in the group, we made full use of the house and all its bedrooms, and could not have been more pleased with all of the arrangements. We did not cook extensively in the kitchen - our style is to have our large meal out at lunch, then lighter both morning and evening at home. (Also keeps us off the narrow Dordogne roads after dark, since our large rented van was, shall we say, fully occupying some of the country routes in daylight!) But is did serve us very well, as did the great room with all its seating and large table. The addition of a dryer to the usual washing machine was also especially appreciated.
The weather during our stay was exceptionally fine, so after a hard day of touring, we made full use of the upper and lower patios, and the pool area.
Philippe and his helper Sandrine was unfailingly pleasant and helpful - notably on the first day, as we maneuvered the back roads in search of the property. We enjoyed visiting with Philippe to learn of the history of the property, and to get hs recommendations on places of interest in the area. The property is extremely well located for seeing the sights of the Dordogne.
I have no better recommendation than to be thinking of when we will have the opportunity to return, which we would do in a minute! My planned France travels have other destinations for the next couple of years, but after that, if we can return, it would be with great pleasure.

So beautiful and relaxing
This is a truly beautiful property. We couldnât have asked for more. Specifics: several lovely rooms and patios for meals and drinks; high quality pool; spacious rooms; good working kitchen; very scenic village with good restaurant; good access to groceries. We loved visiting local sights, and we loved returning to the property for relaxation.

Beautiful house, idyllic location. Book it!
We spent two weeks at Le Presbytere in May 2017 and it couldn't have been better. The house is beautiful inside and out and the grounds very well kept. Although we were there in early summer, the weather was hot and so we made the most of the pool (very clean with cover) and the many outdoor seating areas and barbecue in the evenings.
The rooms inside are well furnished (although maybe the living area needs one or two more chairs if there are four or more people staying?) and the kitchen well equipped. We took advantage of the chef that Philippe recommends in the house details on this page and we had a fantastic meal cooked for us one evening, which was a real treat. The bedrooms are beautiful and the air conditioning a real bonus when the weather is hot if you are staying upstairs.
There is a washing machine and tumble drier in an outhouse which is always useful if you are there for some time. The garden is secluded withe ample parking and Philippe, whilst he came to mow the lawn and treat the pool when we were there, was charming and helpful at all times.
The surrounding area is fantastic to explore with amazing scenery, castles, walks by the river, beautiful villages and a multitude of fabulous brasseries and restaurants in nearby towns and villages. Nadaillac itself has a wonderful village restaurant which you can walk to for dinner and when the weather is good, eat outside. We travelled with our dog and he was made to feel welcome everywhere we ate, which made our stay even more pleasurable.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Le Presbytere. It really is as good as the pictures make out.

A month in Le Prestbytre
Le Prestbytre
We chose Le Prestbytre based on our experience of Andreuilles where we spent a week in August 2017. Please see my separate review for this house.
My wife and I are keen cyclists and our prior research indicated that there are many routes for both cycling types in the LOT. Note. For 10 Euros, in the local tourist office in Souillac you can pick up 'Les Boucles Lotoises' - a pack of 39 circuits of VTT routes, graded green, blue, red and black! We tried several which were all good and well sign-posted.
However, whilst good cycling may have been one of our main reasons for choosing Le Prestbytre, it wasn't the only one. Our wish list included the following:-
Peace and Tranquility
Air conditioning
Heated Pool with exclusive use
No close neighbours
A 'cooks' kitchen as we do a lot of it
BBQ area
Cycle storage
Private parking
Wifi
We were at the house for month of June 2017 and from the moment we walked in, to the day of our departure, everything about our stay in this house was perfect.
The weather during our vacation was sunny and hot for the first 3.5 weeks, so we spent our days either cycling, canoeing on the Dordogne, site seeing or simply relaxing by the pool which is excellent - warm, clear and deep. A new automatic pool cover has recently been installed.
The beds are very comfortable and at night it is silent. Because it was so hot, we made use of the air conditioning (which is in every bedroom) which meant we got a good night's sleep.
My favourite room is the kitchen which although quite small, is well designed with all the equipment you need. It has both an induction and gas hob and dishwasher. There is also a room in the courtyard with a washing machine and tumble drier.
We ate out at the village restaurant Le Chastrusse on 4 occasions and were never disappointed. If the weather is kind on a Saturday night, Mr Chasstrusse, the chef, owner and Mairie plays his accordion to diners which is an experience!
Phillipe, the owner, was available when we needed him, which wasn't often. When he needed to come to the house, he respected our privacy and always asked if it was convenient. He provided a couple of bikes for our guests so we were all able to enjoy the cycling. He is a perfect host and nothing is too much trouble.
I know I may have repeated what others have already said, but you will NOT be disappointed if you choose Le Prestbytre
