I spent the first week of June 2019 at the Yachtsman and I was impressed with the resort. The two 11-story buildings are older timeshare buildings, but they are well maintained, clean, and critter-free. All units in both buildings are oceanfront and my unit (1101 North) had ceiling to floor sliding glass doors in the living room and bedroom -- providing a panorama of ocean and beach that is breathtaking at sunrise (with or without hangover). The unit had been redecorated recently and was a very pleasant place to recuperate from the beach and nightlife. All of the staff I met were friendly and helpful with a positive attitude that made me feel welcome. It's a bonus that the Yachtsman is on the boardwalk and a short walk to attractions -- and only a few minutes drive for many of the other activities Myrtle Beach has to offer. The Yachtsman is my first choice for Myrtle Beach.
there's nothing better than sunrise from your unit. the Yachtsman is in the center of activity, on the boardwalk, surrounded by music venues and starbucks, burgerfi, banditos, pier 14, ryptyde, olympic flame, the beach house, and many more all with in a stones throw.
The Yachtsman was just the ticket for me. Not too formal or modern, and just nautical enough to make me feel at home. Rooms overlook the ocean which is where I wanted to be. My double was spacious and had just the blue and white color scheme to fit the scene. I arrived half hour early to see if I could check in, and front desk was ready for me. The view of the beach and boardwalks overlooks the Pier 14 bar/restaurant, the pools and other activities. Great beach and decent waves put me to a late night sleep. Standing balcony only, which was ok and expected. There are several fun restaurants and rooftop bars in a short walk. The Pier has $1 for the stroll out to where the fish are biting. Outdoor dining and Tiki Bar are fun and had a great multi singer impressionist, keeping the Jimmy Buffet etc sounds for a sailor man. The kitchen was small but well equipped. Hair dryers provided, but no kleenex. TP poor substitute. Very non pretentious and relaxing. I'm sure chronic complainers can find fodder, but if I had a problem maintenance was there in less than five minutes. There was virtually no traffic my week, but Bikers week was coming on and Memorial weekend is one to be avoided. Nearby also are rides, giant Ferris wheel etc. I will go back, and maybe the construction of the building between the South and (mine) North Towers will be completed. Just noisy outside. Used bell carts to carry luggage and elevators are very fast. Free Parking is undercover across the street. Much fun !
We spent a 3 day weekend at the Yachtsman Resort in Myrtle Beach S Carolina. The resort although older was very well kept and the staff from the front office to maids to maintenance were very nice and helpful. Example: the maid chased us down from 11 floors up to give us an article we left as we checked out.The lady in the gift/activity center suggested two excellent movies which they provide for free. The resort is conveniently located on the boardwalk with restaurants, shopping and a Starbucks within steps of the property not to mention being on the beach. This is a true diamond in the rough.
This resort is so run down. Our room was horrible. Our bedroom faced the street which concerned me. They told me that the windows were sound proof and we would not hear anything. That was a total lie. Not only could we hear the traffic and people through the bedroom window, you could hear it through out the whole condo. We had to call maintenance twice and could have called them for several other issues. There was mold on the ceiling. They would not move us although I imagine other units would have been as bad. The employees were the only good thing about this property.
if you are a family & want a great place to stay this is the only place you need ! great staff & close to everything!Everybody was so nice & the place was clean & lots of room & the view was amazing ! We will be coming back to this place on our next trip & cant wait!
The first problem we had to wait almost an hour after check in time to get in our room as it wasn’t ready. The furniture and appliances were run down to the point that the furniture had holes. The balcony may be a full 6 inches wide - not even big enough to step out on. The hot tub was not working all week. Garbage would sit out all day before it was picked up. We had to call multiple times per day to get clean towels. This resort could use a facelift and room updates because it is very worn and dated.
We have traveled the world and stayed in luxury hotels and homes, but we always stay at the Yachtsman when at Myrtle Beach! This is an older complex located right in the heart of Myrtle Beach on the ocean. The other reviews are correct in that it doesn’t have a true balcony or all the bells and whistles of a newer complex. It doesn’t have daily housekeeping since this is a timeshare/hotel. This is what it does have, a great location with the beach and restaurants right outside your door. An exceptionally clean unit with newer mattresses and bedding. A complete kitchen with new plates and oversized coffee cups. The updated WiFi worked well for four adults with laptops and tablets. From the office staff to the activity staff and all the staff in between they are courteous, professional, knowledgeable and care about your stay. Yachtsman is in the process of improving its interior and exterior. The oceanfront pool area has been renovated with new lounge chairs and a bbq grill area. Each building has its own pool. Finally, this is a timeshare that rents units as a hotel (studios to two bedrooms), but you will not be approached about buying a timeshare. We also feel Yachtsman is located in a safe section of town.
Our unit had a water leak in the ceiling duct and we had to be moved to another unit a couple of days in. Overall this resort just does not measure up to the competitors along the beach. It needs a lot of work. The staff do the best they can with what they have.
So here’s my honest review. My husband, myself, sister and husband arrived in the evening at dark. My first impression I was completely freaked out! The office was in the basement of one of the resorts. We checked in no issues and they gave us a “key” yes a key to our unit. I didn’t know anyone used keys anymore. We took the elevator up to the ninth floor and it got more creepy. The halls were so dark doors set in and so dark you could hardly see the door. I was completely freaked out and thinking there’s no way I’ll stay here all week We open the door to our unit and it was rather lovely. Dated yes! But clean. Clean is most important. The next morning though when we got up and opened all the draperies and discovered we completely facing the beach it was wonderful! The master bedroom and living room both had patio doors overlooking the beach. The balcony really isn’t a balcony because it’s like only a foot deep. The nice thing about this resort was that every unit faces the beach. In daylight I discovered the hallways are actually quite light. All my fears subsided and we had a fabulous week there. I’m hoping to go back again and stay at this resort. Wonderful staff also.
