Review of Marina Inn at Grande Dunes
The resort itself was beautiful and the food was great. Most of the staff provided good service, but my biggest concern was safety, especially when traveling with children.
Our room door would not lock from the outside — meaning anyone could walk right in. I immediately called the front desk, and they assured me that engineering would be sent up right away. After waiting 30 minutes with no one showing up, I called back. Another 15 minutes passed, and still no one came.
I eventually gathered my valuables and went to the front desk in person to explain that I had an important meeting to attend and needed the door fixed as soon as possible. The front desk agent said she had already called engineering and wasn’t sure why they hadn’t come, but she would try again. When I called later to check on the situation, the front desk had a noticeably rude attitude and transferred me to another number — which no one answered. I left a voicemail but never received a call back.
When I returned to the hotel several hours later, I was relieved to find the door had finally been repaired. However, the lack of urgency and poor communication from staff left a bad impression, especially considering I was staying as a VIP guest. Despite the status, I was never offered or provided a room upgrade — though I did receive the 20% discount on food and beverages, which I appreciated.
