Would I stay here again? No! I am not sure who is in charge of ratings but, this hotel is more like a 3.5 star hotel. In this rating I want to try to be as fair as possible. The location is amazing, the beach is clean and breath taking, other than the managment, most of the staff is quite friendly. Unfortunately, the rest of the stay was not up to our standards. The hotel is outdated, the hallway carpets are full of stains and even worse, their are sewage/mold smells throughout the hotel and room. The worst part of the whole stay was the experience I had with the managment. I spoke with management and told them our flights had changed to a later timing and that we would like to extend for another night. The manager on duty, didn't seem to care if we stayed another night or not. I found it quite odd because the hotel seemed to be at 60 occupancy. I explained to her about the rates I found online and that we were hoping we could get a discount. She proceeded to offer me her discount which, turned out to be more expensive than the rate I found online. I couldn't believe it but, I kept my mouth shut. We then proceeded to ask for a late checkout because we had a couples massage booked for 1:30 from the previous day. Please keep in mind these massages cost $200 per person. Our request was again turned down and I had to call up and argue with the managment for them to get the point. It's unfortunate that the managment here or the Shangri La organization do not understand the importance of customer satisfaction. Their goal should be to accomadate the guest with in reason, in hopes that the guest will visit again and spread the word to tall of their friends & family about the wonderful experience. Small things like a late checkout or a discounted rate would go along way! The should especially take into consideration the fact that we already stayed two nights, we checked into the hotel at 9:30 pm and we spent over $500 at the spa and resturants. I hope Shangri La change their practices and train their management the practices of 6 star treatment. This is a free piece of advise from me to the Shangri La Organization. It costs your company a lot less money to retain a customer then to find a new one. Pros: Beautiful beach and setting Nice breakfast Cons: Management does not seem to care if the customer comes back carpets are stained everywhere Hallways and our room smell like sewage or mold We had to fight with management to get an extended check out Currency Exchange rates are high

The hotel was clean and well located. We enjoyed the stay and I would definitely return.

We enjoyed are stay even with checking in @ 2am. Did not realize there are three separate hotels under this name.

I stayed at Al Waha August 2014 and it was perfect. This resort is truly a gem of the GCC. The photos do it no justice. Perfect for beachside rest and relaxation. The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious.

Beautiful location, but a bit of a drive to downtown.

It is pretty far from the city, but it was close to the sea, so it was good. It has nice breakfast and swimming pools. I had really good time with my family. I highly recommend this hotel for family vacation.

Stayed in in the Al-Wawa hotel. Great for kids very nice buffet included. Ate at the Moroccan restaurant, food was good, but not a good value for your money. The hotel is remote and it is at least a 30 minute drive to Muscat. This is a great resort if you just want to chill by the sea or the pool.

Overall the staff was attentive and very helpful!.

The view was excellent . the beach perfect. Everyone made the short experience amazing, will definitely come back

20 empty miles away from Muscat where there is not much to see anyway. So you are not missing out if you stay at the resort and enjoy its facilities, 3 hotels in all. We paid US$265 and found this a Bargain for a true 5-star level. Everything in order! Great pools and "river" to relax floating down in an inner tube. Beach looked nice with easy access right in front of the pools. Restaurant food choices a bit bland except the pan-Asian one "Asia", though it's nearly impossible to find (bizarrely, no signs or pedestrian access were built to this new part of the complex). I think the guests are used to more exciting restaurant branding and menu choices when they travel to the Americas, Europe or major Asian cities so why so bland here (same problem in most of the Middle East...) Super relaxing hookah bar under the stars with crashing waves. Fantastic breakfast with quick omelets to order and even excellent Bircher muesli. Coffee everywhere was not good (perhaps again this is a regional problem), but tea was done correctly i.e. brewed.

The good... - Brought to guests while at the pool... cold towels, fresh melon, small igloo ice chests with bottles of water on ice. - Complimentary bottles of water in the room. - Friendly staff - Great service - Complimentary shuttle to the local Souq and shopping center - Ability to use the pool area and beach of the adjacent Shangri-La hotel The bad... - Nothing significant comes to mind.

Hotel was just ok. Not as good as it should have been. Toilet didn't work throughout visit. Requested late check out told hotel was fully booked but stood at reception whist another staff member told a guest that they were empty. Food ok but over priced. Staff good though and very nice atmosphere for children

Good holiday but just ok hotel. Toilet broken throughout and food good but overpriced

Location is excellent. Beach is Excellent. Pools are very good. Watersports are good. Breakfast in the Samba Restaurant is Very Good. I travelled with firends whom some of them had children. For me the room is standard. Theirs were big. I had not encountered any problems, but they had the following: 1. One couple arrived at 2:00 pm after a 5 hours drive from the UAE, and got the room at 5:00. They stayed all the time in the lobby. 2. Other couple had got insects (ants) in the room, and most important is dirty water in the taps which they had to use for shower.

Great hotel, great staff. We asked for a sea view upgrade upon arrival given that it's low season and received one with a smile. The room was great, the view was breathtaking. The breakfast buffet included with the room rate was huge and extensive and kept us full until the late afternoon. Every nook of the resort seemed to have something fun to do-- ping pong, lazy river, foosball, health club, etc. Poolside service with towels and your own personal cooler with ice and water was a great touch. Only two issues: was a bit surprised that there were no lifeguards on duty at the beach at any time despite a strong current and rather large waves, and the food and drinks were quite overpriced, but I suppose that's to be expected at a resort. If this hotel is a splurge for you like it was for us, I'd recommend you bring your own snacks and such. But overall, the Shangri-La made for a really great weekend!!
