I always thought that "Radisson" as a brand name guarantees a certain level of quality and comfort. I am not sure that this is the case with this hotel. The room and bathroom were very simple and could use some renovation, but were clean and tidy. There was no air conditioning or even ventilation in the room. I understand that summer is short in Murmansk, but in my case temperature in the room was quite high. I could not open the small window, because of noises from the backyard and mosquitoes (in Finland it is common to have a mosquito nett on hotel windows). I really appreciated having a kettle in the room, but after I looked inside it, I decided not using it - it did not look any good. BTW: it would not harm to provide a complementary bottle of water in the room, considering quality of the tap water. Premises in the hotel can use some renovation, but I can live with it. The worst thing was the breakfast, and this has nothing to do with the local cuisine: it was simply and plain bad. The serving was not very inviting either. There is plenty of fresh and delicious pastry to find in Murmansk, so why are you serving something tough and old? Omelette is not supposed to look and taste like a washing sponge and so on. Otherwise, it was quite handy to find a couple of ATMs in the lobby. The personnel were polite and efficient. Location of the hotel is very good and close to the centre. Please, do not misunderstand me: I know that it is not easy to retrofit air conditioning into an old hotel, but it costs nothing to replace a dirty kettle! Improving breakfast experience should be possible too. Considering that the price of the hotel is not exactly cheap (app. 90-100 Euros) even for Scandinavia and combined with name Radisson, one would expect a higher standard.
Poliarnie Zori must have been converted from an old hostel/hotel and there is not much you can do with this type of a building. At the same time, it is clean and cosy. The breakfast could be better and the bathroom larger but anyone, who travelled in this part of the world must agree that you shouldn't expect much. All in all it was a good stay. The bar wasn’t great but there are several good restaurants/bars minutes away from the hotel
The property is in a good location, most locations are within walking distance. The hotel building is quite old & dated, but the management have done well to update the rooms with modern styling, The public areas have not yet been updated - and a well in need for it. Service staff were mostly good, a few minor service delivery issues - but nothing that would stop me returning. I only encountered one problem - at 3am prior to my leaving (this was on my third night), there was no water pressure - I was unable to have a shower. Had enough water pressure to wash myself with a cloth, but its not as satisfying as a shower. The water issue - I'm sure was a "one off" instance - and I still had water to do the necessities.
Nice hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, flexible with payment options (which is important for Russian reality). Rooms clean and have all you need, the view from the room to the bay is wonderful. Food is good as well and there is variety of dishes. Restaurant tries to be responsive to the needs of guests. Very good option to stay and the price is very much affordable. If I ever come back, I would definitely stay in this hotel again.
Stayed in this hotel on a recent business trip. Booked this as Park inn hotels are a chain and generally a good standard. Room was clean, but overall standards were not as I would expect. I looked inside the kettle prior to making a cup of tea, it was disgusting. Breakfast was poor and the setting for breakfast was a function suite. On the last day - it was in the nightclub, which was dark and dingy. The bar area was very dark and according to my colleague had not been renovated since he first visited 15 years ago. On this occasion, I travelled with a male colleague, had I been on my own I would not have felt comfortable in the bar area on my own and there were no other areas you could sit and relax. As a frequent lone female traveller, this is the first time I had experienced this feeling. The staff were also rude and abrupt. Unsure if this was a cultural thing or just the hotel. Again, not as expected from a Park Inn.
This is not only a hotel but also a business! There are many enterprises on the second floor, as well as a variety of diversions in the hotel. A curiosity is that the pool is only available if you rent the sauna for an hour. The building and its decor have clearly been a challenge for management, but they have met it well and made it very hospitable. The staff are well trained and exceedingly helpful, and the breakfast buffet is excellent catering to many tastes. We felt very safe here and that our visit was valued. A very short walk down to town, which was also enjoyable in the good July weather.
Used to stay in that hotel many times I visited Murmansk. It is built in an old-fashioned way, and is not that centrally located as the two other competing hotels, but it is small enough to be cosy and central enough so that you dont need a taxi to go a restaurant or go shopping, and it is quite (good windows!). Very good breakfast. Small, but functional gym. Small swimming pool with counter current (blows you away like ***) and a sauna should be booked in advance, and then it is all yours. Prices at the restaurant are higher than many other places nearby, but food is ok. Depending on which floor you end up on, the rooms will be either very well renovated or a just "basic", without much ado. But all in all, ok place.
We went with a group of guys to watch the polar lights, from arrival to departure we experienced truly great Russian hospitality. Hotel arranged a taxi from the airport to hotel at a very reasonable price, general manager welcomed us in and also other guests arriving. Rooms were fresh and newly renovated. Honestly the best towels i have ever seen and to be expected in a 5 star hotel. A hand written welcome note, don't see that much often anymore, as normally they just print something and just sign. All in all i would say i was impressed, a lot of foreign travellers in this hotel and staff spoke fantastic english. I will go back there for sure, my tip- you rent the banya (sauna) for a couple of hours for private use at a fair price. Only problem was they have the most fantastic showers in the rooms that spray from all sides but it takes time to figure out how they work, not giving minus points as maybe it is my stupidity how it works. Thanks for looking after us Park Inn team.
This was an unexpected stop. I was near the hotel and needed breakfast. It cost 520 Roubles which is expensive in local terms but very worth while. A mix of Russian and European food. The Cow Berry juice was my highlight. Yoghurt, fruit, porridge, fried food or fish with salad. It was all available and very nice.
Friendly hotel, with good upgraded rooms and professional staff. Location is good in the centre of Murmansk and are used by the city's international guests. International tv-channels and ok fitness room. An ok hotel to be a singel visiting guest - also in the Bar.
