The hotel is not close to the city center, but it is close to tram and bus stops. The single room I booked was nice and clean, however, the bathroom was small, and taking a shower was very tricky. The place is not so quiet. Every time other guests enter their room, the noise of the shuttered door is loud and clear. Breakfast is very good, even though the selection of sweets should be wider.
We checked out in the morning and left our bags with the front desk for the day as our flight out wasn’t until the evening. We left two suitcases and backpacks with Passports, cash, laptops in them expecting them to be stored in a back room somewhere out of sight. After coming back from a day of sightseeing we were completely shocked to see our bags were in the place we left them, in front of the counter mere metres from the front door accessible to anyone. “Our store room was full” that’s fine, tell me that in the morning when I dropped them off and I would have maybe taken some valuables out or reconsidered the offer, you’re a Mercure, not an Ibis Budget, no where near the level of customer service or duty of care we would expect from a Mercure. Manager (male) didn’t care, laughed us off. Also woken to the sound of tradesmen working on rooms at 07:30 in the morning. I get it, hotels get renovated all the time, that’s fine, but how hard would have been to mention at check in “oh by the way we have tradesmen working on some of the rooms on your floor” such a small detail would have improved our stay tremendously. Communication was the main issue with our stay. As an non-German speaking person in Germany I get that I’m lucky if I can be served by someone fluent in English and it would be arrogant to expect so. It was clear at the Mercure that some of the staff had a much better understanding of English than others. There’s nothing worse than have someone listen to you’re problem and just nod their head, smile and say “yes sir yes” particularly when there’s a colleague next to you who has a much better understanding of English, would much prefer to wait and have someone listen to me who can understand me when the options available which it was. Such small problems which could have easily been fixed. Complimentary drinks after we raised the issue were appreciated but still don’t mend the trust. Attached photo is where the staff left our bags, halfway between the front door and the front desk for a good 6 hours.
We stayed at this property for one week while visiting Munich. We had booked two rooms and they both corresponded to what we had agreed on accor’s website when we booked. The rooms are spacious and well furnished, the beds are comfortables, nice big TV, modern coffee machine Nespresso style with capsules replenished daily with a wide variety of blends including tea which is great. The bathrooms are small but very functional and also includes all the amenities needed. The staff is awesome really, always polite helpful and smiling. The only issues we had was the A/C and the very slow wifi. We requested to change room because the A/C would only work with the lights on not so good at night but the staff assisted us and reassigned us to a different room but unfortuately it wasn’t working at its best I'm afraid. We gave up after the third night. The property is very well located near 3 lines of trams and buses. Walking distance 200m. The trams will take you to the main train station within 10min and from there 10min walk to Marienplatz. You will find some restaurants within 5-10min walk from the hotel. Also very quiet at night we would recommend this property its not a Ritz Carlton buf I think its a great value for the price paid. Stayed in room 111 and 114
This is one of those Accor hotels which is small and friendly, by comparison to some of the more ‘corporate’ type hotels that I stay at. The room I got was nice and spacious - the bathroom was tiny but this is an old building so they are quite restricted in what they can do structurally - but nobody sleeps in the bathroom so I wasn’t that bothered! The hotel has a nice small bar but no restaurant - that said it isn’t far from downtown Munich where there is plenty of choice to eat in the evening. As an Accor Gold I got my usual drinks voucher, extra points and a bag of sweets with a personalised welcome note in my room. That’s a nice touch. In the evening I tried to charge my bar bill to the room (in order to get the points) but they couldn’t do this due to technical reasons. However, they did promptly respond to my email and sorted that out very quickly - so top marks here. Overall, a nice quiet hotel to spend the evening. I would return here.
I spent two stays at this lovely hotel in period of just a week, so I will be writing one review. The only diffence was the room type. At my first stay I had an old room, while during my second stay I was allocated to a recently refurbished room. So, I will first cover the room topic. Both rooms are really great, there are some pros and cons to both room types. Pros of the old room are (at least in my oppinion) better looking bathroom, while cons are: no safe box and smaller tv set. The new room has rather Ibis looking bathroom, but does sport a free to use safe box and a huge brand new tv set. The quality of mattrace is impecable in both rooms. Really no issue. House keeping worked well, I am satisfied. It seems that the old rooms are located only on the first floor. The old design was totally sports oriented with olympic memorabilia (both rooms and the corridor). The rest of the building is already refurbished and features early 19th century persons. It is charming and interesting. Breakfast buffet was fine, the selection might not be huge, but everything was tasty. One lady was tending the breakfast room, but everything worked out fine. The hotel made pride in presenting "Super bowls" Do-it-yourself breakfast where you can choose various ingredients to make your own muesli breakfast. Reception staff was corteous. On my 2nd arrival, I was granted the room keycard at 13:30h eventough the check-in is from 15:00h. Hotel is neatly located, it takes couple of minutes to reach Leonrod Platz Tram stop and less than 15 minutes by tram to Karslplatz (heart of Munich).
I stayed here with my girlfriend for a long weekend at the end of January. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Munich it is such a nice hotel, very cool place to stay the art work on the walls and doors makes it a really cool place to stay with a really arty and trendy vibe. It’s located in a really quite part of the city but is 5 minutes on the underground or tram to the city centre. With 2 tram stations within a minutes walk and an underground station 5 minutes walk round the corner it’s really handy for getting about the city. Munich is such a beautiful city the art, history and the architecture is breathtaking and the transport network is flawless so easy to use and understand and incredibly cheap. Cannot recommend the hotel and the city of Munich enough had a fantastic stay and I really hope I get to visit again soon!
It's very easily accessible by Public Transport. From the Munchen Main Station if you take tram, in 15 mins you are there. We loved the atmosphere and the room was very comfortable, yet a little bit small. It's in a quiet place, so you won't be disturbed by the street or people noise. Also, there is Pub and Bakery next to the hotel, so you can enjoy having time there. Totally recommended and when we visit Munchen again, we know where to go :)
4-5 tram stations (N20,22) from the city center and from the train station. It is 30 minutes walk. Clean and comfortable room. Warm.I booked the double room. Minuses: Very small shower. Can be a little bit noisy from the street if the window is opened, but only after 9 am. Nights are very quite. I can recommend this hotel. very helpful and nice staff on reception. There is the supermarket near the hotel ( the intersection near the tram station left from the hotel) There is 40 minutes walk to the Nymphenburg palace.
The room was larger than most but the shower was really small. Many dining options in the area and a very short distance to public transport. Staff members were extremely helpful even though there was a language barrier.
Really nice hotel. Good location. Was there for two nights, and its literally a top notch hotel in Munich. Great price. Pleasant, English speaking staff inside. Recommending to anyone visiting Munich.
