We arrived to Munich by train and this hotel is located at the base of the city center for visitors. It is also steps away from a metro station, which makes it easy to travel to other areas of the city. Complete breakfast each morning with all around attentive service staff.
We enjoyed this small hotel located in the center of old Munich. The staff was wonderful and the service outstanding. We really felt at home. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay there.
A great family run family hotel. I highly recommend it. Great customer service. Rooms are clean and large. Breakfast buffet is excellent. Hotel is very very well located in the center of Munich. Very friendly service.
Stayed here for 3 peaceful nights at the end of a long European trip and loved it. The Torbraeu is located at the imposing Isator (tower by the Isa River) and is a short walk to everything Munich has to offer. My room was furnished with a free minibar/fridge, a mini Krups nespresso machine, an oversized bathroom with separate shower, soaking tub, large window, hairdryer and plenty of towels, a sitting room with tv, couch and table and a sleeping room with tv, large comfy bed, desk and chair, plenty of electrical outlets and safe. My standard double room (€825 for 3 nights) faced a courtyard and was very quiet. For me, the cost of the room was well worth it. In fact I think the price for the quality of the room and the other amenities at this property was a bargain. The staff here is great. They can direct you anywhere you need to go and you can purchase subway tickets suited to your stay as well. I needed an iron and had one at my door immediately. The front desk staff are always busy but never too busy to give the personal, friendly and efficient service that makes this hotel a cut above. The buffet breakfast is outstanding; the quality makes it one of the best I've had. Fresh yogurt, fruit, smoothies, eggs, bacon, sausages, pastries, breads, cereals and marinated veggies and various cold meats and smoked salmon. And the staff there, especially the lovely woman from Ireland, were fabulous. You can eat either outside on the balcony overlooking the street and tower or inside the spacious dining room. The hotel also has a lounge which I did not visit and a superb restaurant, which I did. The Torbraeu is located on the street Tal, which is a main street leading to the Marienplatz. I walked everywhere easily, including to the Alte Pinakotek museum, which is about a 25 minute walk. And since the Torbraeu is a 1 minute walk to the subway, I took it to the Hauptbahnhof which is a 5 minute subway ride away. This property is a perfect combination of luxury, location and service. I won't stay anywhere else in Munich!
This landmark hotel combines elements of it's historic grandeur with modern functionality. The staff were all friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. They take pride in their hotel's tradition of service. The room was excellent value, being spacious, spotlessly clean, and well laid out. The beds and sheets were very comfortable. The breakfast was the best buffet I tasted in my recent tour of 16 hotels in Europe. Great selection of foods. Great omelette chef. The location was perfect for us, immediately adjacent to a tram station, 3 stops from the main train station and on the line of the tram to the airport. Short walks to great shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. This is a can't miss hotel option, and great value.
I think it was the best service in all hotels i have visited, just wonderful and smiling staff all the way. Very clean rooms and spacious. Great bed and pillows. Best thing too is TOP LOCATION with a delicious restaurant with outside seating facing city centre. Highly recommend
Having traveled to four different countries and 7 different cities during a recent two-week trip, I can say without a doubt that the Torbreau was the nicest of those. It is immaculately clean, the rooms are more spacious than typical hotel rooms in Europe and the beds extremely comfortable. The staff at the front desk were affable, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They gave super clear instructions about how to get out to Dachau, as well as recommendations to others in our trip about what to see and places to dine. It's located just at the end of a pretty party-heavy area of Munich, but surprisingly (and thankfully!) the noise didn't travel in to the hotel itself. There is a train station right at the corner of the hotel, and tons of places to eat and drink down the street and around the corner. There was also an excellent breakfast each morning in the hotel breakfast room. It seems to have a good local reputation, as I met a few people who'd come just for breakfast. I recommend this hotel highly. Would certainly stay there again if I'm ever back in Munich!
Stayed here several nights with my wife and 11 year old son. The rooms were spacious, staff was excellent, location was very good, and the breakfast was great. We enjoyed our stay here, and would definitely stay here again.
We had the change our booking and there was no problem doing so, they were extremely obliging even though it was within the penalty period (through booking.com). Our stay was excellent. Room, facilities, staff, breakfast, location, ambience - all fantastic. The staff are worth a special mention; they were unfailingly friendly, polite and helpful. We can't recommend this hotel highly enough.
For my husband and myself we were a little apprehensive about our accommodation in Munich as it was chosen by our travel agent and not by us, which was the 'norm' for our travels. Once there we were pleasantly surprised. This is a four star hotel with everything you want, little bar out the back, breakfast room on the first floor with a nice verandah looking out over the streetscape, restaurant next door and the hotel is within walking distance of many of the must sees in Munich. We were on the third floor in the back area of the hotel and this meant a quiet room. Our view wasn't the best in town but it certainly wasn't the worst either. The staff were extremely friendly without being falsely gushing. A nice welcoming smile each time we returned from our tourist walks. It has a quirky little room off the stairway decked out in memorabilia from olden times.
