Lovely classic hotel with very friendly helpful staff in a great location in Munich. Great breakfast too. Easy walk in to main shopping area and all the sights of Munich city centre. I stayed in room 107 which had an excellent large wet room. Very comfortable. Good bar/restaurant with very nice staff on ground floor. Many shops, supermarkets and restaurants nearby.

This is an hotel we have stayed in 3/4 times over the last 15 years. We would stay more often but it is deservedly popular and difficult to get into. It's a few years since we have stayed there and I was very pleasantly surprised to see it has had a makeover since we were last there. The rooms have been smartened up and are very comfortable . Good bathroom as well. Best of all is the new hotel bar on the ground floor. It's stylish and understated with a knowledgeable barman in charge. A good man to get to know. You will learn more about Munich in 10 minutes than you well learn from a book guide. Also , keep an eye out for Gerry the porter who's a Dubliner who has lived there for 30 years. Another great source of Information. A really good place to stop over . Great location as well.

This warm, inviting hotel is in the best part of the city for tourists. Just looking at the lovely flower arrangements in the lobby is a clue that this is a special place. The rooms are old fashioned with the most comfortable beds. Breakfast was delicious and located in a sunny upstairs room. While we enjoyed our complimentary welcome drink in the small lounge downstairs. The staff at reception were particularly helpful regarding restaurants and transportation. Can't wait to return.

A little pricer than some but a truly great location right in the heart of the old city. Very nice continental breakfast with cooked omelette on request. Don't miss out on the evening bar (which alas was closed on our last night - a Sunday) - there is a great gent running it full of good tips on where to eat locally etc if you ask. He also has a truly impressive selection of whisky on offer to boot!

We stayed here for six nights & were very pleased with this hotel. We stayed in a double room, & the breakfast spread in the morning was excellent. The location was very convenient: you just walk up the street, and in a few minutes you're at the Marienplatz! We were very happy to know that the hotel did have laundry service. Each evening, we would head down to the bar to relax and the bartender was very gracious. The reception staff also helped us with booking a day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle (note: if you do end up booking through the hotel, make sure to have cash on hand!) Would recommend to any friends visiting Munich!

I have to admit my hotel experience was kind of strange. The hotel staff was nice, but I wouldn't say overly nice. The lobby barely exists-it's pretty tiny. You can either get to the hotel elevators by walking through the small lobby, or there's another door that seems to lead directly to the elevator from outside. That was kind of a red flag right away. I don't really want people walking in from off the streets and having access to go directly to the rooms, without having to pass any front desk people. It so happened, that night, somebody tried to get into my room. I'm pretty sure it was just another hotel guest who was trying to get into the wrong room. I yelled at him that he had the wrong room, and I heard him mumble that he's sorry and that was the end of that. However given that I was already scared with the security situation, I ended up lying awake for quite some time. Then the room itself was also very strange. It was kind of like a tiny retro dormitory room. But I will say, it was relatively clean, except for a small stain on the comforter. They advertise a free mini bar, but there was barely anything inside the bar. And the odd thing was the next day, I left the hotel maid a tip. When I returned, she hadn't taken her tip, and she didn't restock the minibar! Weird, right? All in all, kind of an odd hotel.

Our excitement to stay in Munich was overshadowed by the front desk manager who verbally displayed prejudice against the gay community and someone with a disability. Unfortunately he boasted about doing his job for "16" years, so many people have probably been affected negatively and without compassion.

Beautiful old hotel. I was in Munich one night during Oktoberfest so it was very busy. The check in staff were lovely and offered a cheque in Beer as part of the festival. The rooms are starting to show a bit of age but were a good size. The hotel really makes you feel at home from check in, to providing an inclusive mini bar and breakfast. Notes from the family all add to the character and charm of this hotel. It is very centrally located near the old town. Breakfast was delicious, I would definitely look to stay here again if I return to Munich.

Munich and Hotel Torbraeu. We had the Suite on 4th room 419. THis room has a great view of the street out in front of the hotel which includes the Glockenspiel. King size bed was comfortable, room included a 3D fireplace. Bathroom was large for European standards included 2 sinks and large shower with Body sprays. Sitting room included couch, chair and refrigerator and mini bar. Hotel is situated in great area, close to lots of Munich highlights. We will be there again. The front desk staff was fantastic. Willing to break euros into spendable bills without a thought. Included breakfast was very good.

Located just inside the wall, Hotel Torbreau is close to so many attractions of Munich. Such as the Hofbräuhaus and the Glockenspiel. The rooms are very clean and extremely quiet. Friendly staff and an amazing breakfast! You won’t go wrong here!
