My husband and I stayed at Hotel Torbraeu last week. The hotel is beautiful, service is great and superb location - a stone away from Marienplatz. We had a very large and beautiful room - it had a desk area, a sitting area and a big TV (my husband was very happy with this :) The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is nice and big. There is a free mini bar refilled daily with beer, juices and some snacks. Buffet breakfast is included in the rate. We loved it ! a wide selection of breads, ham, cheese, fruit, etc.etc.... they even had champagne ! We ate several times at the restaurant in the first floor (Schapeau). Food is very good and service is sooo corteous !! No doubt this has been one of the best hotels my husband and I have stayed lately.
This hotel offered great location, friendly service, nice comfortable room with minibar and an updated bath with nice shower. Parking was very convenient, easy to access and relatively inexpensive. We would definitely stay here again.
We stayed three nights and enjoyed the location, room with air-conditioning, and a great breakfast. The staff was very helpful and the outdoor seating for the bar/restaurant was superb. Our only problem was a very loud family which arrived late at night and the kids were obnoxiously loud. We should have phoned the desk, however were too groggy to think of this. Fortunately, they were there only that night.
This is such an accommodating hotel. First, the location. It is easy to find even for jetlagged travelers. You can get here by a single train (no transfers) within 40 minutes; the hotel is perhaps five minutes from the station, right behind the big city gates. I had heavy luggage and found it no trouble at all to get myself (and all of it) checked in. Also, this hotel is right on a street that allows you to be dropped off by cab or bus. That's not always true when you get this close to the historic district. Second, the hotel gives you free access to everything in the minibar. That's convenient! Third, My check in was fast, and no charge for being four hours early. Breakfast was exceptional: the full European spread of "practically anything", and the coffee was great as well. The room was very comfortable. Finally, you are within easy walking distance of the river (took me about twenty minutes) and the historic part of Munich (five to ten). Plenty to do and easy to get back to the room in between "doing".
The Torbrau is located in the old town in Munich, a short walk to Marienplatz and the famous Hoffbrau House and close to two underground train stations. It was easy to get to by train from the airport. We stayed for a couple of nights either side of a walking trip in the alps in a standard double room and were surprised at the different sized rooms we had for the same price. The first was a large double room with bath and shower and the second a very small room with shower only, but both rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. There are also complimentary soft drinks and snacks provided in the room and replenished every day-an unusual and pleasant hospitality. Breakfast, if you decide to have it, is a good continental buffet and served from 7 until 10.30, allowing for those who need or want to be up and out early and those who like a lie in. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant but did enjoy a rather pricy glass of wine sitting outside it. We enjoyed our stay here and the location of the hotel is perfect for tourists to the city, but don't expect a large room or wonderful views unless you want to upgrade to the very pricy superior rooms.
This hotel is staffed with wonderful people. When I arrived very early at 9 AM after an early flight from the USA, I asked to store my luggage. They insisted I check in early at no extra cost. Fabulous! They were helpful in many ways including having tickets for the the S and U-Bahn that allow one to easily navigate to the far flung sites of this metropolis. It is just a few meters away from the S-8 stop that will take you to the airport and a few meters in the other direction to the central tourist area marked by the Rathaus old and new. The breakfast is included and it is lovely in quality and encyclopedic in choices. They have international newspapers every morning that reflect the nation of their various guests at breakfast. The in room mini refrigerator is stocked with goodies that are free and restocked every day. How great is that! Best of all is that the attached bar and restaurant on the ground floor is excellent and convenient.
Can't say enough good things about this hotel. The location is superb - walkable to everything. The rooms are not fancy but a good size, well appointed and comfortable. The staff is incredibly helpful. The breakfast is amazing with a wide assortment of breads, pastries, cheeses, meats, eggs, fruits, cereals, and yogurts. If the weather is nice you can sit outside on the balcony. And all this at a very reasonable price. A winner.
Family of 4 -- 2 adults + 1 2-year old + 1 4-year old. We stayed in the Junior Suite. Crib was in the entryway room. 4-year old slept on the couch, which was a little tight. Room was not large but was sufficient. Minibar was included and restocked every day. Nice bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. Bathtub included two German rubber duckies. Gummi bears included every day on your pillow. Location was excellent. Subway stations nearby although the closest one does not have a lift so better to use the Marienplatz station and walk if with your luggage. We actually walked from the main station with all of our luggage and it wasn't an issue. Just a couple of minutes from the market, the glockenspiel, the Deutches Museum. Loved the location. Breakfast was very good with a nice selection of meat, cheese, bread. Kids loved the smoothie. Prosecco also included. Service at breakfast was very good as they quickly remembered your preferences. Definitely recommend.
The hotel is very well located, a walking distance from most places of interest. It is easily accessed by car and has a guest parking (21€). The service, personnel, breakfast were all excellent. And the restaurant Schapeau is a gem. The rooms were rather big, had A/C, free coffee and juices. The rooms were very quiet.
I stayed here with my one year old and three year old, my parents and my father in law. They provided a crib for the baby and gave us an adjoining room with my parents. We really enjoyed the breakfast. The staff learned our children's names after the first day. They were very helpful storing our strollers for us. The location is fantastic, we walked everywhere from here. The hotel itself is beautiful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Munich.
