It was an overnight stay arrived late and left early in the morning. The location is very close to central station and few attraction, the staff were very helpful and the check in/check out were very quick. The room was a bit dark and did not feel welcoming at night but the beds were ok..
Nice hotel 10 minutes walk from festival 5 minutes from central hbf station. nice room with toiletries iron and iron board fridge and full buffet breakfast for 12 euro, bar in hotel was good value and very helpful staff
I am a frequent visitor to the hotel for th elast 20 years ir so. Ther hotel does not stop showing novelties and management is kee to please the visotrs. Clean dreasonable and good accessebility to all places in Munich. Highly recommended
Rather than writing a full review, I'll just post the letter of complaint I sent this terrible hotel. My colleague and I arrived at your hotel to be told you did not have rooms for us, despite us very clearly paying for the rooms on 7th August. Your solution was to smile, laugh and say 'this hardly ever happens but we've booked you another hotel' If your solution is for colleagues to stay in worse hotels, and for the two people travelling together to not even be in the same hotels, you clearly have not understood the problem. The hotels you have provided are of a lesser quality than we have paid for. The rooms are not of a standard I would, or will, accept. According to your staff these are the only hotel rooms in Munich available. A quick check on Expedia revealed there were plenty. Another search engine gave even more results. So why have you chosen to put two people travelling together in worse hotels and separate locations? And why did you lie that no other hotels were available? I expect a full refund and have also be taken this up with the website I used to book this trip. I have also contacted my credit card to put in a complaint and they will be in touch shortly. Honestly, you could have done better and you know you could have done better. Your solution is terrible and the way you handled the situation by trying to laugh about it and smile was way below acceptable. You just didn't care or want to make any effort. That is not acceptable. Please confirm when you will be processing the refund.
The hotel is close to all the main attractions and near the train station, but the neighborhood is not exactly nice. The room is spacious and clean. Customer service was terrible. From check in to daily interactions. There is a daily charge for internet and it didn't work for a whole day. The temperature in the room was uncomfortably hot and despite calling in daily for someone to turn it down, no one could actually figure out how to do it. After long days of sightseeing, We didn't look forward to returning to the hotel.
The hotel is clean, the rooms a fair size and the bathroom pretty standard. It was Oktoberfest so obviously very busy but knowing that there should have been more than one person on check-in. Eventually more staff turned up and the queue was dealt with but not a great start. In terms of location this is right near the main station in a mainly Turkish area of town. I was able (and happy) to walk into the centre in 15 minutes and about the same amount of walking in the opposite direction brought me to the Oktoberfest itself. I've no real complaints (check-in aside) but there wasn't really enough reason to give a fourth star.
Visited for Oktoberfest, good location for that and being so busy the 'delights ' of the surrounding area can be over looked! Never a 4 star though. Fairly basic, hardly any toiletries, dimly lit room, basic bathroom/ shower. No as advertised daily English newspapers. Booked a double months ago but gave up trying to get in one. Cups went missing after daily clean and it took 3 goes to get some back. Tea/coffee was basic and you need to go to McDonald's to stock up on milk! What's not made clear is that if you book direct with the hotel the wifi is free and the breakfast is 8 euro. For the Oktoberfest, yes as good location ( but very expensive), for a city break not sure, as basic and surrounding area bit seedy.
Stayed for Oktoberfest, 10 minute walk away. 5 min walk from train station and 15 minute walk from centre. Lovely room, shower over high bath, not the best shower, everything clean. Small bar area, good for that last drink.
Very clean hotel, that is convenient to Hauptbahnhauf. Walked to the hotel from the train station. staff are great. The bar tenderder was very nice. breakfast was 12E, and a nice bujffet. The owners sent me a birthday card. I have stayed at this hotel 5 times,
Shout out to Kyra at the front desk who was professional and cordial. However, housekeeping was inconsistent at best. See attached photo of "you forgot something?" Once I asked for conditioner and slippers---the other lady at the front desk said "housekeeping was not in the house" and gave me 1 pair of slippers (there's 3 of us) and body lotion (which I didn't ask for). Another time, housekeeping forgot to leave drinking cups in our triple room. My husband who needed to take his medicine, called front desk who promised to send them up. After 30 minutes of waiting, my husband went down to the lobby to get said cups himself. Not having any, this same lady instructed him to go across the lobby to the bar to get glasses. Unbelievably, the bartender (who we were informed later has had previous incidents with fellow employees and other guests due to his ill temper) gave my husband a horrendous time refusing to give him a simple glass! My husband was incredulous when this guy even threatened to call the police (for what, for shouting and being rude to my husband who is a paying guest?). The elderly couple who were hearing all these couldn't believe what was happening and were only distracted by a rat running around the restaurant! We don't expect to be treated like kings and queens, we just hope to be accorded simple courtesy. The next day, the deputy director, Mr Florian Riethmuller, was very appalled and apologetic at his employee's behavior. We asked him to watch the hotel's CCTV recording of the incident so he can see for himself what transpired. Having been a customer service manager, both my husband and I actually know what good customer service is. We're not going to tell the management of Hotel Cristal what to do. Unfortunately, this bartender's incorrigible behavior will always tarnish our memory of Hotel Cristal and Munich.
