I read about this place and couldn't be happier with the experience. The location was 5 minutes from the train station. It was very accessible for my handicapped mother. The room is not large, but has everything you need. A free mini-bar is included. The breakfast was the best we have seen on this trip. So many options including hot and cold. Coffee is free till 6 pm daily and there is always a bowl of fruit. The reception desk was very helpful and friendly. Check-in and out were quick. Taxis arrived in a few minutes and the desk was always willing to call. Next door is an excellent Italian restaurant. Most nights we were tired on our return and we would pick up food to eat in the room. The tomato soup was amazing, as was the pasta primevera. Negatives: I would have appreciated a warmer blanket. I was very cold the first night, but the next day we mentioned this at reception and they seemed to get the heat on better. The safe in the closet is large enough for a laptop but it's on the ground so you literally have to get on the floor to put things in and figure it out. One day at breakfast we were asked to move from a four-person table to a two-person table. While under normal circumstances, I would understand this, with a handicapped mother who needs access to her walker and bags, it was very inconvenient to sit in the aisle with nowhere to put our stuff.
Great location, underground station very close by and trams, also within waking distance of everything. Fab buffet breakfast and you could even have proscecco with it! Comfy rooms perfect for a city break.
Carat hotel is an okay hotel with at very central location. It’s just about 15 minutes’ walk from Marienplaz. The upside with Carat hotel is good and diversified breakfast, attentive staff, its central location and the cleaning. The downside the room are outdated, and probably from the late 80s or early 90s. The rooms are a bit worn down and have not sufficiently soundproof. So you have to accept some noise from traffic and the outside corridor. I will still recommend the hotel due to the reasonable price; just do not expect charming and luxurious rooms.
It was a solo stay for one night only after studying reviews from internet. But not at all as per the reviews. It's located on the main road and metro station in 5 mins walk away which was s plus point. My disappointment started with the lift itself which can barely fit in 2 average sized ladies and their 2 suitcases. The door to my single room was so small hat I had to struggle getting inside with my luggage. The room was too small. the breakfast variety was nice.. I took a walk in lanes backside Which had few small restaurants having good food..
The hotel is roughly 45 mins by car and 40 mins by train from the airport. It is roughly 20 minutes walk to the main sites in Munich, and a 5 min walk to the underground. Within the vicinity of the hotel there are a couple of excellent restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. The hotel rooms are basic, but super clean, and very comfortable, with a lovely free minibar in the room which was a great touch! We also received a tasty, and good breakfast with a lovely selection, which was totally unexpected for the price we paid. What really stood out at this hotel were the staff, so accommodating, friendly and could never do enough for one, who enjoyed chatting to the guests. It really did feel like home from home. Cannot recommend this hotel enough for a stay in Munich! Great work Carat Hotel!
Unfortunately I was ill and could not make the trip. I did purchase a non refundable rate but requested a refund as I had a doctors note and it was 30 days prior to the trip. Reply stated zero refund. Disappointed.
Lovely hotel in a really good location, 10 minute wak to the Marienplatz and shopping. Room was nice, very clean and bed was comfy. Breakfast was great. The selection of food was fantastic. Staff were lovely. Very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend staying there. Great value hotel.
My partner chose this hotel because of its location and that definitely cannot be faulted. It's a 9 minute or so walk to Marienplatz which is brilliant. The hotel is very reasonably priced, however please bear that in mind during your visit. We have clean sheets, a workable bathroom and everything is tidy. In summary, of you want an easy, comfortable, hotel in a good location with friendly staff without paying ridiculous prices this is it. Just don't expect 5*.
I knew it was trouble when I saw only ONE TINY lift capable of 2 people without luggage in the reception. I was on the fifth floor. Today, after a gruesome 14 hours day at the exhibition I found it out of order. 5 floors with my heavy business bag. The room is single bed 3 x 8 meters Only, including the corridor AND the toilet. I call it toilet with a purpose. The toilet seat is of the new tiny types build in the wall and could not sit comfortably a Vietnamese. I regularly touched the inner wall with my private parts which is totally un hygienic. The shower is small oval and designed for the same Vietnamese. I was ripped off 245 euros a night because it was during the show and there was nowhere else to go. My suggestion? Sleep in the car if there is nothing else.
We were here from Christmas until after New Year's and this hotel served as a good base for our day trips to Dachau & Nuremberg, seeing local stops like the Olympic park and Nymphenburg Palace, getting tour buses to Neuschtwanstein/Oberammergau, and accessing trains to Rothenburg ObDT, etc. It's about an hour train ride away from Munchen airport and requires a transfer either at Marienplatz or at Hauptbahnhof to get to Sedlinger Tor which is the next stop and is only a stone's throw away from the hotel. Room was of sufficient size, clean & the bed/mattress were of a really nice quality. They have welcome drinks prepared and the daily breakfast was probably the best part of our stay. There was just a copious amount of food with very good variety. The staff too were very helpful and professional in their demeanor.
